...See more Hello lovely people! Hope y'all are doing well and staying safe!  Welcome to Day 2 of the "Random Acts of Kindness” Event. Huge shoutout to @Bubbles2025 for organizing this wonderful event and writing this amazing piece!! ♥️♥️ Kindness is one of the most powerful yet underrated forces in the world. It is more than just being polite or saying nice things—it is about showing care, empathy, and understanding toward others. Acts of kindness, whether big or small, have the ability to brighten someone’s day, ease their burdens, and create a positive ripple effect in a community. In a world that can sometimes feel harsh and competitive, kindness reminds us of our shared humanity and our responsibility to look out for one another. One of the most important aspects of kindness is that it does not always require grand gestures. A simple smile, a thoughtful compliment, or helping someone who is struggling can have a meaningful impact. In school, for example, students face many challenges, from academic stress to social pressures. A kind word or a supportive gesture from a classmate can make all the difference. Even small efforts, like holding the door for someone or including a quiet student in a group conversation, show that kindness is about being aware of others' feelings and needs. However, being kind is not always easy. It requires patience, understanding, and sometimes even courage. There may be moments when kindness is met with indifference or even negativity, but that should not discourage us from continuing to be kind. True kindness is not about seeking rewards or recognition—it is about doing what is right simply because we care. Choosing kindness in difficult situations, such as standing up for someone being bullied or offering forgiveness instead of holding grudges, takes strength and character. In the long run, kindness benefits not just the people who receive it but also those who give it. Studies show that acts of kindness can improve mental health, reduce stress, and even increase happiness. When we treat others with compassion and respect, we build stronger relationships and create an environment where everyone feels valued. A culture of kindness in schools, workplaces, and communities makes the world a better place, encouraging cooperation, trust, and mutual support. Ultimately, kindness is a choice that we make every day. It is not about perfection but about consistently trying to be a source of positivity for others. Whether through words or actions, we all have the power to make someone’s life a little better. The more kindness we put into the world, the more it grows, creating a cycle of goodwill that can inspire change in ways we may never fully realize. ...See more Hey everyone, Today is world volunteer day so I just wanted to take a moment to share how much I appreciate each of you.  The way you show up for people in need, offering kindness, understanding, and a listening ear inspires me to be better everyday.  Day after day, you create a safe and supportive space for individuals around the world who are struggling, and you might not always realize how much of an impact your existence and what you do makes. Being part of this community with all of you is such a privilege. Your guys are one of the few things that give me hope a better world is possible and that good people still exist.  Together, we’re not just offering support—we’re giving hope to people who might feel like they have nowhere else to turn. Thank you for being the incredible people you are, for the time and heart and soul you pour into what you do, and for inspiring me every day. Sending hugs, love and lots of cookies sarinn

April 2024 Global Volunteer Month: Let's Talk Self-Care
by Heather225
Last post
April 21st, 2024
...See more Hi, everyone! It’s Global Volunteer Month [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/EventsDiscussions_2666/AprilisGlobalVolunteerMonthCelebratingour7CupsCommunity_326954/] and I’m here to talk about one of the most important aspects of sustainable volunteering: self-care! Volunteering is a rewarding experience, but it's important to remember that you can't pour from an empty cup. Just like putting on your own oxygen mask before helping others on an airplane, prioritizing self-care is essential. As they say, “self-care is not an expense, but an investment.” Here are some things to remember when giving your time and energy to our beautiful community: * Set Boundaries: Be clear about your time commitment and stick to it. Don't feel obligated to take on more than you can comfortably handle. Don’t overcommit. * Mind Your Wellbeing: Volunteering can expose you to challenging situations. It's okay to say "no" to specific tasks or take a mental break if needed.  * Nurture Your Passions: Schedule time for activities you enjoy outside of volunteering. This could be anything from reading a book to spending time in nature – recharge your batteries with activities that bring you joy. * Connect with Others: You have a built-in support system in our community. If you’re a listener and need to unload after a difficult chat or discuss listening challenges, reach out to a Peer Supporter. Here’s what they do and how to connect with them! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/General_2422/PeerSupportFAQHowToConnect_327368/] * If you’re in a leadership position, know that you can take time away from it at any point. Simply communicate this with the respective head of the program/project. We also understand that life happens! The beauty of volunteering is if you need to go for a while, you can always return to us. * Burnout is real. If you ever feel you are at risk of burnout, or just want to learn about what it is, this is one of our best resources for understanding and preventing burnout in growth path form. [https://www.7cups.com/path/playlist/preventing-burnout-at-7-cups/] Lastly, here's our listener resources masterlist, including an entire section dedicated to boundaries and self-care! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/ListenerResourcesMockChatGuides_2381/ListenerResourcesMasterListForumLibrary_228279/] And remember, it’s okay to put yourself first. It’s not selfish—it’s actually necessary to maintain good health so you can be at your best. What are your favorite self-care practices as a volunteer to stay balanced and energized? Share your tips and tricks in the comments below, or link to any helpful resources you've found within the 7 Cups community (forum posts, guides, etc.)  Let's keep this conversation going and support each other in prioritizing self-care!

April is Global Volunteer Month: Celebrating our 7 Cups Community!
by Heather225
Last post
April 11th, 2024
...See more Hey everyone, and happy Global Volunteer Month! Here at 7 Cups, we're incredibly grateful for our amazing volunteers who dedicate their time and compassion to supporting others. You are the heart and soul of our community and at the core of what we do in providing listening, leadership, and a safe space for members to cope, heal, grow, and thrive. I have several forum posts planned to cover different aspects of volunteering on our platform (and I invite you to make forum posts as well!). For starters, let's kick it off by reflecting on our purpose, and our foundation: Why do you volunteer? What motivates you to give (or give back) and support others on their journeys? Let's use this month to appreciate our helping community and share the stories that inspire us all. Looking forward to reading your replies! Bonus 💗 please tag fellow volunteers to share their insights, too!

Coping Through The Holidays - Forum Discussion
by Bubbles2025
Last post
December 31st, 2023
...See more 🌟 Hello everyone, I hope that you all are doing well. I know I have not followed the schedule, and I truly apologize! I had a family emergency that needed my full attention, but now I am back and ready for us to continue this event! 🌟 ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧ 💛 Today we are going to discuss how to cope with the holidays. Coping through the holidays can be a callous thing to do. It can be so hard when we don't always have something to celebrate, or we don't get along with family, or simply the holidays make us feel worse. These are all completely valid and common things to feel during this time. I know that coping can be so painful, but hopefully after this discussion, it becomes a little bit easier. 💛 ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ˳༄꠶ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ 💬 So of course the first question we ask ourselves is, what is triggering these emotions/feelings towards the holiday? A lot of people don't like the holidays because it reminds them of loved ones that have passed, they feel lonely, or any other reason. Being able to pinpoint why we are feeling the way we are is a great place to start.  The holidays can stir up feelings of grief if you have lost a loved one. Naturally, some of us attempt to push these feelings away and try to avoid them altogether. However, these reactions are normal, and burying them will just create a spill over and begin to impact your mood and behavior. Instead, acknowledge the way you feel. Just the act of stating how you feel can be therapeutic and may help you move through the various aspects of your grief. 💬 Once we have been able to pinpoint the feelings and triggers, we can then find ways to help us cope and get through them. The first thing we can do is plan. If we try and make a plan and stay busy, it can make it easier to cope and give us less time to think about the negative parts of the holidays. Being able to make plans and have a routine can potentially make coping a lot easier. Staying busy and active are ways to help us be distracted.  "Think about what was stressful about last year, and make adjustments. Create a budget for what you can spend and stick to it. Carve out days/times to shop, cook or clean. Plan out how you will manage that annoying relative. If your aunt seems to always criticize you, find a seat at the opposite end of the table. We can’t always control what people say or do, but we can try to set ourselves up for the best possible scenario. If she still manages to make a dig, manage your reaction, pull her aside and tell her how it makes you feel. Let her know what you would like to see happen instead, i.e. “If you have a concern about my boyfriend, will you bring it up after he leaves next time?” But most importantly, and if you can, plan to spend time with the people who make you happy." 💬 Preventing burnout is such an important part of the holidays. we need to be making sure we are taking care of our bodies and understanding when we need to take a break and so something for ourselves. For many, the holiday season brings joy, but it can also bring more stress and some conflicting obligations. It is important to prioritize what brings joy and emotional recharge (people or activities). It’s okay to say no to situations that stress you out, whether it's attending a party with people who have mistreated you or missing a party in a week that's been too intense at work. ₓ◦。˚○┈┈┈୨˖  ͘ ☆ ͘ ˖ ୧┈┈┈○˚。◦ₓ 🌼 These are just a few of the many things we can do to help us cope through the holidays. I appreciate you all taking the time to read this post and joining in on our discussions.
