Hello Leadership Crew!
I am having a blast with you all. This leadership program is a lot of fun and Im glad we are doing it. I think itll help across many fronts. Shout out to @aleks2 and @quietmagic for their help looking at the first batch of results on our leadership composition. ÃÂ
Here is a summary:
Here is a summary from @quietmagic on what our collective - all of us together - strengths and weaknesses might be:
Leadership Crew Strengths:
Altruism/motivation: Having a deep passion for helping people that drives all we do and creates a feeling of purpose and meaning
Idealism: Having inspiring dreams and visions of just how unbelievably powerful and beneficial this site can be: imagining all of the good we might be able to create, all of the suffering we might be able to help heal
Kindness: Being able to create a kind, cooperative, culture that is gentle and considerate with people's feelings
Compassion: Being able to understand, connect with, and feel an urgency to resolve the needs, concerns, or problems of the people that we serve
Relationship: Feeling a yearning for deep, meaningful connections with others, creating a community where people are able to be authentic and feel a sense of belongingness
Leadership Crew Weaknesses
Practical implementation: Developing and optimizing systems, managing the fine details for concretely achieving our broad goals
Risk-taking: Being willing to take risks or make drastic changes to existing systems/practices where needed
The above analysis feels/seems right to me. This new leadership program in fact can be seen as one way that we are attempting to address a growth area by optimizing our leadership systems! And, zooming back, if there was going to be a team of people that was going to try to pull off the impossible (a free emotional support system), then I think itd be with the leadership composition described above under strengths. Itll take a lot of optimism and kindness to make this a reality!
Okay, lets transition to the next exercise and discussion.
Begin by taking the Big 5 test and answering the following questions. You can also read more on the Big 5 here ÃÂ and below.
1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please check out the next post here! You must take part in the brainstorming/activities given in all of these posts to successfully complete the program.
This post is brought to you by the Leadership Development Program Team, find out more information about the program here.
1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I earned high scores for Open-mindedness (77th percentile), Conscientiousness (80th percentile), Extraversion (94th percentile), and Agreeableness (95th percentile). I also earned a low score for Negative Emotionality (22nd percentile). All of these scores culminate into several personality traits, which include being relatively open to new experiences; being very well-organized, and can be relied upon; being extremely outgoing, social, and energetic; being good-natured, courteous, and supportive; and being generally relaxed. Before this test, I didn't know very much about my personality traits. This test made me realize how many positive traits I have, which can help me develop into a great leader!
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
According to this test, my top 3 strengths are my agreeableness, my extraversion, and my conscientiousness.
3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
By identifying my strengths, I will be able to better support my friends, family, and myself. I'll be able to use my traits to discover the different abilities that I never thought I had.
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
My strengths can help me to become a more confident contributor to the 7 Cups community once I get into a leadership position. Eventually, it can also help me effectively communicate with my co-workers once I jump start on my career adventure.
@Nerdtastic01
Hi there Nerdtastic! You're right on the money! I think sometimes it's easy to overlook the team dynamic of being a leader. Because not only are you leading a group, you are also working together with many people to make something possible. It's important to have good communication skills with your team and be inclusive as well. I'm sure these qualities will help you work together better with your team!
@Nerdtastic01
Hi Nerd, you seem like such an amazing person! You have a super high score for agreeableness, which must be really helpful in building relationships and connections with people both in your personal and work life. It sounds like you have many great skills of being a leader, and will make a great one!
@Nerdtastic01
Fantastic! You will really succeed in your leadership roles.
@GlenM
1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I learned that I am extremely open-minded, which I was not expecting, but I also don't think it's a bad thing for a site like 7Cups with so many different nationalities! Also, I learned that currently I'm quite high strung. Usually, I am not, but these days I have so much work! I should try my best to give myself more free time to alleviate stress as well as participate in enjoyable activities when I have time.
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
My highest scores were in Open-mindedness, Agreeableness, and Extraversion!3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?
These skills can help me in my social life to get along more closely with friends and family, as well as remain very grounded about myself. Since I'm open-minded and agreeable, I will always try my best to listen to others and consider their opinions, which can help mitigate irrational behaviours
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
All of these strengths are extremely helpful for mediation and approachability, being open-minded and palatable makes it easy for people to approach me, and my extraversion can help even the shyest members and listeners to participate more and be open ^^
@LavenderFlower
Hi Lav! It's so cool that you've learned so much about yourself, and being an open-minded person is definitely an amazing trait to have, especially as a leader on 7 Cups speaking to such a large variety of people. It sounds like you're amazing both in leadership positions and together with a team of people.
@LavenderFlower
You have wonderful strengths as per the test. Amazing!
@LavenderFlower
It's great that you can utilise your strengths such as extroversion to provide a safe and comfortable environment for others to open up to you ❤️
@courageousheart96
I agree on extroversion to provide a safe and comfortable environment for others to open up
@LavenderFlower
Good points... Open-mindedness, Agreeableness, and Extraversion
Open Mindedness: I scored 48 percentile which says I don't typically seek our for new experiences. It's somehpe true I always seek for a partner to experience new things. I an kinda person who would not prefer to go alone.
Conscientiousness: it says that I must have a messy desk and that's true. But I see it as a creative mess 🙈
Extraversion: I am neither particularly social nor reserved. So yeah I think so I am a modest person. I like talking but at times I trouble initiating a conversation when I don't know other person's interests
Agreeableness: I won't mind if someone doesn't share same believe I have. And I won't mind listening to others opinion neither I impose my opinion on that person. But there will be a difference of opinion in the end.
Negative Emotionally: I am not particularly emotional nor calm. And I believe I am not an exception.
Great! @LavenderFlower
@LavenderFlower
1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I learned that I am loving, humorous and spiritual. It was not a surprise to me. I tell my parents I love them all the time and my friends as well. I always try to make others smile, especially when they’re having a tough time. And my faith in God is what gets me moving when I’m having a hard time. People think I don’t have any issues with anything because I’m always smiling. But the truth is I worry about things. I keep smiling so others around me can be happy, but I’m starting to think they believe I’m always bubbly and cheerful. Well it’s not bad for them to think that way at least I make them happy.
2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?
My highest scores were in Love, Humor and Spirituality.
These skills can help me in my social life by getting others to open up to me. By helping others focus with their inner selves. By practicing peace and love.
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?
I can be kind to my team members. I can always make someone smile if they’re having a tough time. I can show compassion when things don’t go as planned.
1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?I learned that I am a creative and open-minded person, and also that I enjoy finding new experiences and finding new and different ways to look at things. I also learnt that I'm a very introverted person, which goes along with the advocate personality I got from the other test - being quiet and softly spoken whilst still feeling strongly and speaking up for the things I believe in.2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?Conscientiousness: I tend to be reliable, well-organized, self-disciplined and careful in the work I do. Open-mindedness: I tend to be original, creative, curious and complex in the things I like to do. Agreeable: I tend to be good natured, sympathetic, forgiving and courteous when interacting with others.3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?Being conscientious can help me to be motivated and organised to achieve my own personal goals, and being organised can help me maintain a healthy work/life balance. Being open minded can help me to think up new ideas, and listen to other points of view. Also, it will help me think of more abstract and new solutions to help with any problems I face. Being agreeable can help me form good relationships with those around me and keep close with my friends and family. It also helps me when meeting new people to build connections. My insight helps me to set personal boundaries with myself, to avoid things getting too much, and enable me to balance my work and school with time for myself and relaxing as well. My altruism enables me to care deeply for those around me and want to improve the places I go. It helps drive me to move forward and make a positive impact. My passion helps me to do the things I enjoy, and gain skills in the things I like to do. It drives me to keep going and achieve my goals.
4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?Conscientiousness can help me when leading sessions, in staying organised to be a consistent host, and also enable me to work hard to develop in my roles. Being open minded helps me to take on board new ideas as 7 Cups is constantly involving, and also to think of improvements I can be making to improve my skills. Being agreeable helps me to build connections with other listeners and members on 7 Cups, and take into account their views and opinions to ensure everyone feels supported and welcomed. Being insightful helps me to see the improvements I could be making as a leader, and will enable me to improve, and in turn the work I am doing to also improve. Being altruistic gives me drive to work on 7 Cups and continue to make a positive impact and develop my skills so I can help in the best way I can. Being passionate gives me interest and helps me become motivated to continuously improve and become the best listener and leader I can be.

@GlenM
Some things I learned about myself: I learned that I love trying new things and how I act towards people differs depending on the situation.
Some of my strengths are: Being able to stay well-organized, reliable, creative, love trying new things.
Being able to stay well organized will help because I can locate things easily and not have to worry about looking for things. Being reliable helps for trust as in from a boss or coworker. being creative helps in the choices I make in life to stand out from others. Trying new things is helpful with going out of my comfort zone and learning that i may like new things that are better for me than other things that may not have been the best for me. this will help on cups because i can step out of my comfort zone and talk to more people.
@GlenM

@GlenM
One big thing that I learned is that although I am accepting of people and ideas whose beliefs differ from mine, I am actually more conventional than I thought. This is the main thing that I learned because I’ve always considered myself to be more open-minded, rather than conventional, as the test states about me.
According to the test, my top 3 strengths are that I’m reliable, agreeable, and very well-organized.
In my personal life, my highly conscientious personality is a strength that I can use to practise proper time management in my academics so that I have enough time to relax in the evening and throughout the weekend, as well as keeping on track with my school work. That way, my stress levels don’t get too high from cramming all my studying and assignments.
Being highly conscientious means that I am very reliable, well-organized, and self-disciplined. These traits are very useful for me in a leadership role both on 7 cups and in my career because people can look up to me as a reliable leader that they can count on. In addition, since I’m self-disciplined and organized myself, I can make sure everyone is on track with their tasks, especially in a career setting.
