...See more Hello lovely humans! I hope you all are doing well. I wanted to share 6 study habits that have helped me a lot in managing studies and planning things. As a student, we have to look after so many things. Projects, homework, assignments, class tests, notes, and the list goes on……..Whether you are a school or college or university student, forming healthy study habits is quite difficult. We feel lost when we are under so much pressure. Everything looks scattered. But practicing healthy study habits can help a student in improving concentration and eventually grades. The most important thing to keep in mind regarding effective studying is to study smarter rather than studying longer. Here are the 6 effective study habits that are extremely useful when beginning to study: IDENTIFY YOUR LEARNING STYLE First and foremost, knowing your learning style can help you in enhancing your learning and understanding process. Some are visual learners. They learn through flow charts and diagrams. Some learn better by listening to videos and lectures. They are called auditory learners. Some work on problems and learn from them. They could be kinesthetic learners. Figuring out your learning style can determine how you can understand the concepts well. USE MNEMONIC DEVICES Mnemonics refer to methods of remembering information using a simple association of words. If a topic is difficult to learn, you can use visual images to understand it better. Taking the first letter of every word in a sentence is a simple mnemonic that can make it easier for you to learn. STAY ORGANIZED AT THE DESK If we spread all the books on the desk which are unimportant at that moment, it is going to give us some sort of tension. We would not be able to study one thing at a time. Even bringing a phone or laptop which might not be required at that moment can distract us easily. Hence, keeping only important things on the desk while studying affects how we learn and understand. TAKE HEALTHY BREAKS AND REWARD YOURSELF Taking short breaks in between is important. It helps to improve focus and attention. Studying for four hours continuously with no breaks does not help at all. Studying for one hour and then taking a 10 minutes break to reward yourself can be very enjoyable. Making a target for the day and rewarding yourself when you achieve that target enhances your studying and learning capacity. Rewards could be listening to your favorite song, grabbing your favorite snacks, etc. CHOOSE YOUR STUDY AREA Lots of students study in their beds. It is distracting because that is where you sleep. Chances are that you may sleep instead of studying. If you study in an area where there are lots of gadgets, they are going to distract us. Studying in a place where there are lots of distractions is a waste of time and makes everything boring. A quiet place such as a library where no distractions are present can help you a lot in concentrating. HAVE A GOOD SLEEP That is my very last tip. I mentioned it at the very last because it’s the most important tip. Studying for the entire night before the exam is highly damaging and risky. You would forget most of the things the next morning and would be sleepy for the whole day. All-nighters do sound fun but to be honest, they are not effective. Hence, having a good sleep is crucial to study in the best way possible. That’s it. These are my 6 tips. What are your healthy study habits? I would be really glad to hear from you. Please drop comments so that I can also incorporate some of your healthy habits.
