Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Wednesday 10th January 2018

TheHoneyDoll January 10th, 2018

Hello lovelies! heart

How is everyone's day going this Wednesday?

I'm in school today which makes me think of other students who might be having a tough or stressful day so I'd like to share some tips to help with student stress! heart Hopefully these help you get through school or work a little easier today ^^

Tip 1: Drink plenty of water through the day!

Tip 2: Be sure to get lunch and if possible, get a good breakfast!

Tip 3: Find a quiet environment and listen to stuff music to help with focus.

Tip 4: Don't hold yourself to really high standards. It's okay to not get a perfect score! It's a learning experience :)

Tip 5: Don't do so much to the point you burn out. Do what you know you can tolerate and stop there. It's great to have goals but don't push yourself too far! ^^ Baby steps!

Tip 6: Give yourself time to rest at some point!

Tip 7: Ask for help if you need it!

Tip 8: Stay organized and follow a study schedule. A planner can go a long way!;

Tip 9: Eat a healthy snack when you can to help with energy! (Salad, oranges, sushi, etc). You could also reward yourself for getting things done!

Tip 10: Chew gum to help relax on exams and take deep breaths.

Did any of these sound helpful?

What do you use to destress in a work or school environment?

Hope everyone is having a nice day! I can't wait to hear from you all ^^

I realized that I was in so much denial even still about my past experiences.Now mind starts to remove this denial and it's very hard.Breaks me brain but I try to hold on.It's very overwhelming and scary but I don't have to be all alone and I am able to let others in so that's a relief.Today managed to be quite productive even despite having a breakdown so it shows that I'm getting even more strong and resilient.Got triggered a few hours before so now just taking time to recover and feel safe.Days like this tests me in a way that I don't like.

@Morfo66

There is no denying that it is hard work going through this process. It is amazing that you broke through that wall and have started healing. I am sorry that you are facing some triggering events.

I must also congratulate you on being able to bring yourself back to the present moment in a busy environment. That alone is a milestone worthy of a lot of self-compassion.

You are doing a tremendous job. All of your hard work is inspiring as you are seeing the benefits while processing very tough experiences 💛.

Great ideas! I usually try to de-stress by taking deep breaths and relaxing my shoulders.

That is a wonderful addition. Our bodies hold on to so much stress. A nice walk to relax and take deep breaths is my rescue remedy!

Great things to remember to do. That has been a pitfall of mine is taking care of my self, and rewarding me for the small steps.

This has truly been a trying week with my husband has been in the hospital with the heart blockage. He is home now. I am still running back and forth to the doctor with my feet and legs swelling up so big. Finding out that this is related to heart stress they are ordering a stress test to be done. They did an ultrasound on the leg to make sure I did not have a blood clot. The test was negative. My husband hit a deer in my car Friday before he had his heart episode and I have not had the time to contact the insurance company yet. Now I had to take a break and let everyone hold his own weight while I catch my breath. Self Care is vitalheart

I wouldnt want to be anywhere else. Take good care of yourself. Being a caregiver is very rewarding (I care for both of my parents), but it is also stressful at times. Even those we hold close to our heart must understand that to be at our best we need a little time for ourselves. In my experience, anyway. So love yourself and be well ❤️ Thinking of you daily.

Today my only goal was to get my online banking sorted out so I have access to my business funds. Sh1$ It was an exercise in futility. At least I have access to the account now, but they still won't let me add my account to pay my salary.

And this week has been stressful. I'm avoiding my lawyer because I'm scared of her and it's bringing up things that cause me more stress. Just the fact that I have to be involved in doing work and finding solutions instead of finding someone who can do that for me. Adds stress to my plate instead of her removing that stress like she was supposed to.

Because she hired this intern who doesn't understand what I do, and then I have to find ways to explain what I do. I'm a doer not a talker. And I can't explain mulitvariable calculus to someone who doesn't understand algebra, figuratively thinking. Because the advisor I got to help me with this said I should use storytelling. But then stuff comes up that is traumatic triggers for me.

I don't like having to tell my story because it brings up parts of my life that are stressful to talk about. Like the guy who entered my house last summer. Who always tells me to move to a different city, even though I never ask his opinion. And his father who wants me to be influential, but doesn't provide any support for my lawyer to resolve the stuff. These are topics I want to block out. So when people make me defend myself, account for my skillset and experience and how I got them, these experiences are part of that, and it isn't good for me emotionally or mentally to go into the rabbit hole where I have to open those chapters. Why can't people just leave them closed???

Hi Orange,

You are always so incredibly supportive of everyone. I truly wish that I could make things a lot easier for you. I am sorry everything seems to have hit you at once. Be gentle with yourself concerning work. Stress of any kind does tend to increase dissociative episodes for many people. Just remember you are doing the best you can with so much happening.

If it would help be sure to have several objects, pictures or other items close by to help you stay present and grounded during work.

I must say that you are already doing an incredible job. Remember we are here and be sure to call on any other resources who have proven helpful in the past.

inventiveOrange1 January 12th, 2018

@Compassionatelistener108 Thanks listener. You are as always, intuitive and very compassionate.

I know what caused the feelings of dissociation and the nightmares that came last night reflected it.

I was dealing with a gynae patient going through being admitted for a distressing condition. I found it trigerring but was asked for advice for meds information on dosing of the chemo drug that is used. No one else was there to give it and then couldnt locate the patient. Spent some time worrying for her state and had to get the gynae reg on call involved. In end we kept the injections and went home hoping they would find her.

I know i have a choice to work here but the hospital and others in the UK are so stretched right now i cant just call in sick if i feel a bit off. The flu is making things so much worse. We havent stopped being on black alert in weeks. I dont like complaining and im trying very hard to be logical when i know im not coping. Am resisting sh when i can though its been the only way to push myself along recently here. I guess its better than the alternative i have urges to do. I know the borderline crap is flaring when it happens so im trying to be careful to keep things away at work which is quite difficult.

I am in awe of everyone in this community overcoming so much and trying their best to heal. Safe hugs and love.

25 years of endless suffering. Will i ever be able to have a good life?

1 reply
Compassionatelistener108 January 14th, 2018

@PeacefulLife2

Peaceful,

I just came across your post and wanted to let you know that someone truly heard you. There are indeed days when it feels as though the pain will never end. They are the most challenging times and test our strength. You have already proven how strong you are by simply being here, expressing yourself and working so hard to heal. For me personally, the most difficult thing was to allow myself to be vulnerable, acknowledging the pain with a wonderful, supportive professional and treating that part of myself with the compassion and love everyone deserves.

You, too, deserve to let that vulnerable part of yourself feel loved. You deserve validation and compassion. You deserve to heal and live a good life.

It is out there and you are in my thoughts. With compassion, my dear friend. You are not alone anymore.
