What motivates you to keep writing?

I'd say the fact that I have a story inside of me that no one else will ever have, it's a one off opportunity. What about you?

This is one of my favourite answers.

The fact that each of us have our own unique stories that NOBODY else has feels awesome!

This is such a gold. I love it!

I think what keeps me motivated to write is the desire to share my story of my life.

Same ...

I frequent support group type of websites to let my story be known, though, anonymously.

It's nice to find others too, that can relate to my own situation...

That feeling similar to the one that motivates one to eat or drink. What motivates me to keep writing is some kind of a survival urge, I think. Thanks for this thread! x

@CheeryMango what motivates you to keep breathing? XD I write because I can't live without it! It brings me so much joy and it's a form of self-expression. But I only write very short blurbs and stories, it might be different for people who write novels (I've tried, and given up, it takes sooo much willpower). And plus it gives me so much freedom - I can write anything I want and make a whole new world appear, and I just find that so cool, don't you?

@CheeryMang

The feeling of exploring new worlds and making people see how I view the world and making up new worlds. I have always been drawn to writing and reading because it makes me feel like I can be anything as long as I just keep pushing on. I have found that people sometimes use my story's as a way to cope with what they are going through and it helps me to be more positive because that feeling I get whenever people tell me that they enjoyed something I wrote makes me keep going. It's like nothing else in the world matters because they see me and they see what I am trying to say. It is just powerful I feel.

What motivates me to write is a need to escape. I am trapped in a lonely world. I have no friends or family so writing for me is a change to have a life, even though it's only a fictitious one. My characters are brave and courageous and all the things I'm not. They have things I will never have, go places I will never see, do things I will never do. Writing fills the empty silence and engages me in a way that mindlessly watching Netflix never can. I need to write.

This makes me miss writing fictional stories so much...

I used to draw comics too, make a world to escape my own.

Have characters that have supernatural abilities that I don't have.

Have more confidence and bravery than me as well.

Sometimes, live a life I wish I could've.

Or dealt with problems better than I did ...

I love this comment so much, thank you for sharing @FrozenGhost.

@CheeryMango I have to feel something

@CheeryMango

I get haunted by good and weird ideas... Ideas of settings, ideas of happenings, characters that become voices in my head.

It so happens that I have a gift of putting those ideas into words sometimes, and it can be a lot of fun. I rarely like what I write but I get surprised by how much other people do.

Well I love writing, mostly stories... What motivates me is the desire to learn. I love making research to make my characters move more real, and the same time I'm learning something new. ❀️

@CheeryMango

It is a great way to process emotions and escape to your own little world when reality becomes too much.
