Course 3: PL 102 - One Key Metric (Discussion 5)
We've been talking about denial and distraction in this course. It is pretty easy to get knocked off track in life. One way to stay on track is to have a core metric that guides you. If you have a north star that you are working towards, then you know how well you are doing. It is harder to be in denial or to participate in activities that are less helpful in meeting that goal. Â
There are 2 parts to this discussion. Â
1. Work with your team or mentor and identify the key metric you are hoping to help move. Post daily (or the cadence that makes sense) in the  3 key things thread to highlight what you are doing to help us move 7 Cups forward. Please post here why this goal of choosing a single metric is important. Think of how this is important in your professional life, but also how this can help you personally as well. Â
2. (TW: themes that deal with death) Read chapter 12 and do the exercise where you imagine it is the end of your life. If comfortable, post what you imagine people saying to you at the conclusion of the exercise. If not comfortable, then please share how the exercise impacted you. What you imagine them telling you is your compass. If you are acting in a way that is consistent with what they are saying, then it is very likely that you will end up living a meaningful life. Remember to listen to and follow this compass so as not to be distracted by the clock. Â
After completing the requirements of this post, please proceed to this post!

once due to the stupidity of a man, my acquaintances received the news of me that I was dead. my acquaintances started talking to each other in a joint chat about whether I was really dead? a few hours later one of them managed to call me on the phone and reassured that I was not dead. then I read in a shared chat my acquaintances talked about my death. it was wonderful to see how lovingly they talked about me.
@Mankka
Fun !
@Mankka That's great to hear! It was indeed a very interesting and thoughtful course!
@GlenM
Hi! How are you?

I post often on the 3 key things and I do chat with my team and my mentors and I am a Chatroom Mentor Myself. Global Mod . Peer and Chat supporter and a few other roles .

The chapter 12 can hit a person right where it needs too !! What do want people to say about us once we are gone and what legecy do we leave behind..Will people say nice things and have really good memories ..Were we good to people ..
People no matter what will always have something to say good and bad about someone and this is their right but I do hope that people can be truthful on the day we are gone.. I hope they remember the good times more than the bad times.I want people to remember me being silly , funny and entertaining lol .. I am not gonna be remerbered for being smart ... hahaha and that is okay. I am also gonna add here sometimes we have to say to ourselves I really could care less what some say about me because they are not really nice and they always look for the bad in everyone and if they can not fund it they will sure make it up. I am all about what God thinks about me and my family and friends and yes course my fellow team mates on the site and when i was able to work having good work ethics .
The Qudrants are very good exmaples of how to manage things... what is important and what isn't but very true in stating that what is not important to us may be important to someone else and vice versa... so it does take some time and really thinking how to better manage and deal with the importance of each..Also being careful while figuring out what is ane what is not important..
Peace and Love. Tye
@Tyedyedbutterfly65
Great work with answers, Tye
@Tyedyedbutterfly65
Kee up the great work!
@Tyedyedbutterfly65
I like how you added in there that not everyone may have something positive to say about us in the end. We don't have to care what they say. "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." Keep it up!
@shiningDay80 Thanks so much !!! appreciate your kind words !! Good Luck to you too !!
@Tyedyedbutterfly65
I congratulate you that you post often on the 3 key things and chat with your team and your mentors.
I didn't even know about the "3Tings" Forum...
@Tyedyedbutterfly65 Very thoughtful answer, I loved it!

I have actually posted in this thread in the past. Good to know - might write more in the upcoming theres on there.

I do possess an entry log and primarily pen my thoughts on there. I will keep this in mind to consider other perspectives. Afterall, it makes more sense to view ourselves in terms of how others think about us - so this might increase self-awareness.
@SynSavory
A key metric might be self-awareness, as it takes a lot of discipline and practice to identify how others perceive us.
@SynSavory
Self-awareness is a good goal because I want to make sure I can speak to people in ways that heighten their overall perception of me.
@SynSavory
Yes, self-awareness is a great goal to strive for!
@GlenM
Hi! How are you?
A key metric is important because it moves us.
It makes me think of what I want to be, and what I dream of.
@Daf8
Very true, like a goal!
@rebecca947
Ohhh, thank you!

I posted in that thread (glad I found it! I'll be using it more!) and the metric I need to work more on is balance. I've actively started setting up timers to help me gain more balance.

While details aren't important, I hope that they tell me that my compass was always fighting for what was right. For being a good parent/friend, even when it hurt me, and that I always honored my 'open door' policy.

Big, big hugs <3 Your last answer struck a sad chord. I'm sure you did your best under the circumstances that you were in, and that's what matters in the end. xx

I often post in 3 key things, I love that we get to see a snippet of what others are doing on Cups!

That was very hard for me to read and then to think about. I have been faced with my own mortality several times, and my family's too, and I do not like it. I am not ready to think too deeply about what others might say. But I did think deeply about what I wanted to have achieved and what I want to do. I have read this before and it swallowed me up with emotions.
