My Migraine Journey - Share Yours, Too!

...See more I thought it might be nice to share our migraine journeys. I first remember complaining of headaches to my mom in 6th grade. She didn't believe me. It took a while for her to believe me, and my grandmother had to tell my mom that my great aunt suffered from migraines exactly like mine, and they left her bedridden for days on end. My migraines wouldn't stop. I'd have them 3-5 days a week. We saw specialists, discovered I have a Chiari, and finally found a medication that worked, until I hit about 20. I had a migraine that made me go deaf for 2 weeks. This led me to the medication rollercoaster all over again, until finally my doctor suggested Botox (which was NOT FDA approved yet for migraines, but he tried it in a last ditch effort). It was a new lease on life. I went from having migraines from 3-5 days a week again like before to maybe one actual migraine a month, and just a few minor headaches every month (which are typically triggered by being out in the sun too long, going on a roller coaster, not enough sleep, etc.) But I always know when my botox is wearing off....because they start coming back. But this is the only treatment that has actually helped me without terrible side effects or simply not working at all. I'd love to hear other people's journeys as well!
