@Heather225

I stumbled upon 7 Cups while reading about the role of online platforms in mental health and I was intrigued by how technology could create accessible spaces for people to share their struggles and find comfort.

When I explored 7 Cups, I was impressed by its genuine commitment to building a supportive community. So I jumped right in with the idea to connect with individuals from all walks of life and be a source of comfort. Soon I realized that listening to other's stories not only helped them but also broadened my own perspective.

And what keeps me here is the genuine connection I feel with others. Every conversation is a reminder that we’re all navigating our own challenges and being able to support someone in that journey is truly rewarding. At the same time, it is also a chance for me to learn and grow alongside them. It creates this beautiful cycle of connection and compassion that I find endlessly fulfilling and inspiring!

I can sum it up in three words: chronic illness; depression.

I hope those two are more under control right now because of 7 Cups. Keep going strong! I'm with you.

@TogetherForeverAlways The latter is definitely more under control these days; the former...sometimes. 🤓 Cups has been one factor among a few in my progress.

What amazing replies so far! Really inspiring, saddening, uplifting, heartwarming, and truthful. So many different reasons and yet we all landed here, together at 7 Cups!

My reason for joining was curiosity. I was taking part in a meeting and one of the students asked if anyone had experience of 7 Cups; well that was it, I had to Google and investigate lol. I was lucky. I was in a good place and able to offer my experience and support, and I loved it!

I am still here and about to celebrate my 7th year as a listener 🦋🎂♥️😁 But I stay because of the members. I know I have managed to help quite a few now, through their ups and downs, health problems and breakups, marriages and births.

Group hugs to those that want to join in 🌟🤗🌟

Hi, Heather,

Thanks for asking what brought us here to 7 cups.

I was seeking online support and at that time (four years ago) NAMI (National Association for Mental Illness) had an online chat. It was very infrequently responded to and there were only a few folks on there. One of them pointed me to 7 cups and the rest is Herstory (speaking for myself she/her). (NAMI no longer has an online chat; therefore there is no conflict of interest in publishing this.)

Kindly,

Patience

@Heather225 I was talking to AI on WhatsApp on how to be a more submissive girlfriend as I’m going into a new relationship and I want to be able to be the best version of myself for this man and my kids. However I’ve suffered a tremendous amount of childhood traumas from abandonment issues to neglect to SA and the list goes on. Born and raised in Jamaica and wasn’t born with a gold spoon in my mouth but I made the best with the cards life gave to me. I’ve recently ended a 5 year relationship with my kids dad and coming out of a long term relationship can feel almost like time stopped and so I’m new again to the dating world and I’m scared I might project the trauma I experienced all my life and from this recent relationship. I was used and abused in every form from my kids father while actively being his biggest support financially, emotionally and in every way you can think of and I did this all while raising our 3 kids and I’m just 25 years of age. I feel so angry with myself for allowing this so long and wasted so many years. But yea long story short AI on WhatsApp suggested you guys to me. And I’m excited to see where this road leads.

Hey! I'm pretty new here 😊. I was looking for volunteer opportunities since I've been home sick now with anxiety, depression and burn-out. Starting to feel much better, but not quite enough to volunteer in person yet, so this seemed like just the perfect opportunity. I'm a psych nurse and I love to listen and help. I always wanted to improve my listening skills and all the resources here are awesome.

I'm still checking out the guides and information before I take on 1-on-1 chats because I want to do a good job! I still have quite some brain-fog so it's awesome I can take things at my own pace. I'm really grateful for this place and everyone here, there is so much kindness and understanding going around 🥰.

I was looking for a listener and became a member. Eventually, I became a listener as well and find things in common with everyone in order to be empathetic and compassionate

For me, it was because I was doing through depression and phases for almost 2 years now and talking to myself wasn't helping. So AI advise em on some sites and 7 cups just felt right ❤️‍🩹
