@Heather225 Around 2020 I went through a really dark time and wanted therapy but I was broke and didnt know where to go. I dont remember what I googled or how I got here, but I think (and im probably wrong) may have been through *** or something, anyways I got on here and started to speak to a listener. Over the years I've used this place as a place to my feelings, especially different feelings, on paper. At times it's really easy for me to get in my head, sometimes I just need feedback and sometimes I just need to know im not going crazy and this is a really good place for it.
When I first joined 7 Cups in 2017, I was gradually coming off my anti-depressants, and I figured I needed to find some support for me to move on with life without medication. Since counselling and seeing a Psychologist is costly and is not a long-term solution, I turned to searching online for a platform that supports mental health. This is when I came across 7 Cups.
Ever since becoming a member here, I have received lots of empathy and compassion from fellow members, as we share our experiences and paths to recovery. We support one another, come to an understanding of each other, and we listen to each others' problems. Sometimes there are good advice, other times, it's just a good feeling to make a post and have people resonate with our feelings. A relief to know that we aren't the only ones who struggle with life, on a mental, physical, and/or emotional level.
During my years here, I have tried the Forum Support role in the past, but with a busy schedule with work, I had to step down. I think I enjoy more being an active member and contribute to subcommunities that I have experienced myself. 7 Cups has been a continuous platform where I learn about all facets of mental health, loaded with many useful information for anyone in all walks of life to benefit from.
I've even shared this platform with my GPs, and they've said it will be something they'll recommend to their patients who want to seek support online. Especially helpful to those who do not have financial support to see a Certified Counsellor or Psychologist. A lot of the times, people struggling with mental health just wish to have someone to listen to us, as we vent our situations and feelings we've bottled up, to people who will not judge, but show compassion, empathy, and understanding. At times, that is all we ask for.

During 2019 I was in major CPTSD with a lot of flashbacks and serious depression/ anxiety. My therapist was great but I needed more support. I was able to connect with some great listeners who helped me through some rough episodes. I still see a therapist and occasionally stop in to cups to chat and support others. I'm grateful for such a good supportive group here .

I was in a very dark place and seriously thought the worse. I scrambled all over the internet trying to find help. None of my friends seemed to care and family kept saying, "Oh this and that have it worse" which you NEVER EVER tell anyone that is depressed. I found 7 Cups and immediately signed on and so far I have met some wonderful people that understand and care.
@wjglory
I'm so happy that you joined 7 Cups in such a dark and challenging period of your life.
Kudos to you for acting out on your depression and proactively seeking help. It takes courage and strenght to do so.
You are in the right place, and never alone.
Stay strong and kind as you are, fellow writer friend!
@TogetherForeverAlways Thank you for the kind words I hope you have a wonderful day.
@Heather225 I was going through really bad anxiety and panic attacks. I didn’t want to bother my friends or family with my triggers. I came across this site and it is nice to not feel alone.
@toughCup4675
7 Cups really does that, filling our loneliness and promoting love and compassion.
I hope your anxiety and panic attracks are least a little better by now.
Happy Cupsing!
@Heather225 I don’t have a good relationship with my parents due to my gender identity and my mental health has been getting worse
@Heather225 Well at first I came because I wanted to learn to be a good listener which I still can do, but I ended needing support moreso throughout my journey. I've helped and I've healed here. It's been a blessing.
@indigoJet3460
And we're blessed to have you with us! 😇
As a listener it's for a class. I love it though. Which means I'll keep doing it even when the class is done.
@compassionateMoon4024
Way to go, keep awesome! ^^
I want to learn how to be an active listener. I am not from the mental health area. I knew 7Cups from AI. And, I know this is a really warm place now.
@ANyein
This is definitely a warm place. Welcome in, and enjoy our community!
@Heather225 I thought I needed therapy cause lately i've been not myself and none of my friends or family know this
