...See more Thank you for being a leader on 7 Cups! Community leaders are a significant part of our community. In stepping into a leadership role with 7 Cups, you have agreed that you align with our values and wish to uphold our mission. You have the ability to inform and influence our community members. So, it is important to lead by example and be a role model to inspire others to aspire to be someone like you to extend the support to others. In addition to the community guidelines, rules, and policies [https://www.7cups.com/about/communityGuidelines.php] currently in place, we are including a list of reminders, as well as one new rule. ➡ As a community leader, you may be provided with confidential information to perform your work on a team or a project. Use this knowledge for its intended purpose only. In other words, please do not abuse your privileges. We trust you to be responsible and maintain confidentiality. ➡. Refrain from engaging in triangulation. This is a very common mistake people make without even realizing it's happening. Triangulation manifests itself in our community as one person who will not communicate directly with another person, and instead use a third person to relay communication to the second, thus forming a triangle. Triangulation is damaging because it interferes with healthy conflict-resolution and lends itself to rumor spreading by taking a private situation between two users and exposing it to more people. Read more about this and take the Triangulation Pledge. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/ListenerCommunityampSiteUpdates_38/LaurasOffice_169/WhatisTriangulation3StepstoAvoidingStoppingitfromhappeninginthecommunity_35107/1/] ➡. Community leaders must maintain strong boundaries. Being a role model, and a trustworthy and reliable leader, users may become dependent on you. To nurture healthy relationships with the community, it's imperative that you set boundaries for yourself and respect those of others. ➡. Community leaders accept feedback gracefully. Getting feedback can be hard to hear, especially if it's more of a constructive criticism than a praise. Leaders should be able to accept feedback gracefully if given constructively. We all are human and all have things to work on and grow. ➡ Please honor and follow our social media policies (i.e. no off-site contact with community members). 7 Cups is a safe environment for you to build and create connections. We love that you are building supportive relationships with each other and enjoy connecting! In order to preserve this safe space, we ask you not to solicit off-site contact. Also bear in mind, once you take interactions off 7 Cups, we are unable to assist you in the event something happens outside of our site. ➡ Reporting is our responsibility. You are the eyes of our community. We have several ways to report incidents that cover all areas of the site, and we rely on you to direct users to those channels. We also rely on you to use them as well. As the slogan goes: if you see something, say something. ➡ We respect your right to use whatever sites you'd like. However, since we launched, we have discovered that some of our leaders have also been working with non-crisis sites that are similar to 7 Cups. We are all for competition, but we want the intention behind it to be solving broader emotional health challenges. We don't want the competition to be a negative interaction between companies. To protect our community and its ongoing progress, we ask that if you would like to pursue leadership with us that you do not affiliate yourself in leadership positions with non-crisis sites similar to 7 Cups. (When I say similar sites, I am referring to any site that offers the same services as us. This would not include therapists, AA, NAMI, and assistance programs that share our broad goal to provide support in the healthcare industry but are not set up to operate like we do. They all offer different components that work in tandem with us.) Leaders: please reply below if you have read and understood these rules! If you have any questions, you may PM anyone on the community team (@Hope, @ASilentObserver, myself).

They are dedicated individuals passionate about sharing their knowledge and experience to help and support their focused projects reach their full potential and support the community. Please join us in welcoming @izzy528 and @JustSophia. @Izzy528 Izzy is stepping up as Teen Star Leader for the Verified Listener Program. They will be supporting efforts to increase the number of verified listeners in the teen community, so that as a result more and more support can be available for teen members to feel heard, comforted, and supported better. Izzy has been part of 7Cups since 2021 and is always thoughtful and resilient in supporting the teen community.     @JustSophia Sophia has also stepped up to become a Mentor Leader for Chatroom and Member Group Support to oversee the Resources track. They will be helping to organize, create, classify, and modify the resources related to group chats so that whether listeners or members, they can utilize these resources effectively and get the right information. These resources would include FAQs, guides, articles a few names as examples. Sophia has been part of 7cups since 2022 and went above and beyond in their efforts to support the community. Her efforts to keep Chat Support FAQs up-to-date made a huge impact on the listener community and helped them support the members effectively.   I believe their expertise and commitment will undoubtedly make a significant impact on making things better for everyone. Congratulations to both and I can't wait to see what all new accomplishments they achieve.

Enhancing Interactions: Balancing Professionalism and Personal Connection In 1-1 Chats
by MindfulJourney22
Last post
July 28th
...See more Hello everyone, today we are going to start a discussion on how we as listeners can make our interactions with members sound more humanely, so the members can feel more supported and validated! As we aim to enrich our interactions here as a listeners with members, it is crucial that  we infuse our conversations with both humane touch and professionalism. Striking this balance ensures that our interactions are not only empathetic but also resonate with an understanding. Here are some steps we can ensure to keep our interactions more humane- Incorporating Personal touch: One effective approach is to weave in personal experience or anecdotes when appropriate, for example if the member shares their struggles with 'Anxiety', Acknowledging their emotions and letting them know that they not alone in this and it does get better with time without going into extensive detail, we can give our example. Such as "I hear you it might feel like this right now but know I have been there and I think it does get better with time, how do you feel about that?" can offer hope and relatability this approach helps members to feel understood and supported in their own battles! Tone & Engagement: The tone of our communication in the chat is vital, whilst maintaining clarity and respect, varying our language to keep the conservation engaging can make a significant difference. Adopting  a conversational tone that reflects empathy, encouragement, especially when in a chat that includes sensitive topics, fosters a supportive environment.  Personalization: Addressing members by their usernames whenever possible can enhance the personal touch of our interactions. This simple practice demonstrates that we value their individuality and are engaging in the chat with them personally rather that responding in a generic manner. Maintaining professionalism: Professionalism remains essential. Our responses should be accurate, non- judgmental and aligned with the community's Guidelines. Providing members with opportunities to explore their emotions through open ended Questions further supports their journey and aligns with our mission. In summary, by combining empathy, personal anecdotes, and a friendly tone with accuracy, clarity, and respect, we can create interactions that are both humane and professional. Let’s strive to make our conversations not only supportive but also enriching, contributing positively to the community’s goals. At last i would like to ask you all a question, feel free to Answer that! Q.  what are the ways you as listener try to maintain both humanly and professional tone and 1-1 chat with a member? ------------------------- Tagging- @Annasilverberg @Asilentobserver @Hope @GlenM @Littlebirdie30 @Sunisshiningandsoareyou @Sparkygizmo @Hopieremi @AmiablePeace77 @Dancat1128 @Daydreammemories   Team work makes the Dream work!

7 Cups Mentors: All About the Program QnA
by Heather225
Last post
March 7th
...See more Hello, everyone! This article aims to provide clear and comprehensive information about the mentor program at 7 Cups. This was written by @Suryansh for LLJ last year and we thought it'd be helpful to clarify the mentor roles here for all budding mentors and be a refresher for our present mentors. - How can I get in touch with a mentor? To begin with, here is the mentor page: https://www.7cups.com/listener/listenerMentors.php [https://www.7cups.com/listener/listenerMentors.php] Here you will discover a list of all of our amazing Teen Stars, Teen Star Leaders, Mentors, Mentor Leaders, and Ambassadors, along with a brief summary of their responsibilities. All you need to do is message a Mentor/Teen Star who you think you would like to learn from or sign up to be paired with a mentor using the link towards the top. If you directly message a mentor, be sure that their status says, “Currently accepting mentees”. If people are set to “Not accepting mentees”, they may either have enough Listeners to support them or prefer to concentrate on immediate mentoring rather than long-term mentoring. If you are looking for a Teen Star/Mentor or Mentor Leader in a specific track, you can click “Select Track to See Mentors” to open a drop-down menu of the different mentor types. If you would like to become a mentor yourself, feel free to read this post thoroughly or visit THIS [https://www.7cups.com/listener/training/leadership/] link to explore all the leadership roles at 7 Cups, including mentor roles. To get the applications, you may simply check the applications attached to this post. Why should I get in touch with a mentor? We understand that having your first chat, exploring the website/app, and being capable of using all of your Active Listening abilities brilliantly may be challenging, and that you frequently have questions. Our community leaders are here to help you develop into the greatest Listener possible! In general, every mentor is capable of providing assistance with active listening skills. This is because each mentor mandatorily goes through the chat support training. Feel free to read more about it here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/ChatSupport_101/ChatSupporttrainingisnowCompulsoryforMentorsofAllTracks_268257/]. So any and all the mentors will be able to help you grow further as a listener. Exception: The general rule does not apply to members who can be community mentors too! It's because their training isn't the same as listeners who are mentors. So they shouldn't be reached out for chat support nor do they show up on the mentor page. But do reach out to them about forums/communities! They likely know more than the average (non-community) mentors about these areas, especially the community(ies) that they lead in. What is Chat Support? Tell me more. Chat Support is specifically for helping with an ongoing chat with a member or for member chat-related queries. One can reach out for chat support in the Listener Support Room or Teen Listeners Room. In the event that no chat support is available at the time, we encourage the use of the Chat Support FAQ [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jf7BqGrwkY0zFhU3PKaAaRVCoEd6O2TD0vNhuiRHRD8/edit] [also available in Rules 1 and 17 of the Listener Support Chatroom]. If you need more help than what is mentioned in the Chat Support FAQ, please feel free to fill out the Listener Support Request form [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc2yFIiL6az6UEOc5LNqOOERpM7D0g8F49x0qjbIq7QwhJOBQ/viewform], and a Chat Supporter will get in touch with you shortly. If you need help regarding the Chat Support team, have feedback for Chat Supporters, or have queries, suggestions, or ideas, please feel free to message our GS Ambassador (Suryansh [http://www.7cups.com/@Suryansh]). What about the mentor tracks? We have domain-specific mentors (mentors that specialise in certain domains), in addition to the basic active listening mentoring that every mentor is capable of offering. The different domains and mentor tracks are: * Chatroom Mentors: They are responsible for assisting in the moderation of the Listener Chatrooms and helping listeners in the rooms with their queries. More Information! They are accountable for completing the duties given to them, helping academy interns and trainees, and hosting AMAs. More Information! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/academy/AcademyTeam_2313/Applytobecomeamentorwith7CupsAcademy_303162/] Apply Here! [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScVqIemWcH8D2MY21jkQK_oClijrK368Jf7wog1SfZ8Wzzbbg/viewform] * Teen Transitioning Mentors: They support teens as they transition to adulthood and lead Q&A discussions in our teen listener Chatrooms. More Information! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/agingup/TeenTransitioningMentoringProgram_2492/ApplytobecomeaTeenTransitioningMentorhere_271407/] Apply Here! [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfoPnC0iqqydNkRnRH3efPj0I-_QNBpyyetBdn6SumrPkabfw/viewform] 👉 As mentioned, as a general rule, every mentor is capable of providing assistance with active listening skills so you can contact anyone (I recommend checking out their bio first though). The above are just the mentors' ✨ specialty areas.✨ Should I have one mentor or many mentors? Approaching one is a good beginning! Feel free to check out this article for some questions you may ask a mentor to improve as a listener. [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/ListenerResourcesMockChatGuides_2381/QuestionstoasktoImproveasaListener_267294/] You are then welcome to contact more mentors to see who would be the best fit for you. The best-fit mentor is one who will support your development and lead you through each stage of your listening journey. Who are the Teen Stars? Teen Stars are the teen version of Mentors! They are mentors themselves, just in the Teenage Group! They attend the same mentor training and are appointed mentors based on the same qualifications, experience, and other parameters. I wish to become a mentor myself now! How may I become one? It's wonderful to hear that you'd want to mentor others. Please start by selecting the mentor track you want to follow from the list above. Please be aware that completing the qualifying requirements and having adequate experience are prerequisites for applying (every track has its own set of requirements for mentors). Also, be willing to accept the feedback positively if you are not approved to be a mentor on your first attempt. Now that you have decided the track, met the requirements, and read more information about that mentor role, please feel free to apply. The leader of the respective track will reach out to you soon!

...See more With the release of the JITT tool [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/GlensNookCommunity_547/JustInTimeTrainingJITTNoniHelp_309758/]to help new listeners get their bearings as they learn active listening, the subject of how we can strengthen our community support roles has been raised as a priority for discussion. To get things rolling, Fristo created a post [https://www.7cups.com/forum/projectsandevents/CommunityActivitiesEvents_1908/InvitingideasforIncreasingMenteeMentorCommunicationat7cups_310373/] inviting ideas for increasing mentor-mentee communication and the reception was amazing. We have collected and compiled all of your suggestions and have been reviewing them to determine what’s viable. We’ll have a more comprehensive list when available, but for now, I can tell you that we’re conceptualizing a revamped Training page which will include a dedicated space for information about the mentoring program, resources, mentor list, and more. Here’s where we’ll need some help! I’ve pulled all the items out that can be done on a community level that need writers and collaborators: ⭐ Guide about mentors and the importance of a mentor in a listener’s journey (to be added to the Training [https://www.7cups.com/listener/training/courses/] page). Need someone to write some content for this updated page. Contact: me! ⭐ Mentorship Tests: Develop tests for mentorship growth, similar to AL Tests. Tests need to be drafted and written. Contact: @Fristo [https://www.7cups.com/@Fristo] ⭐ Volunteers to think through the redesign and overhaul the aforementioned Mentor page. Contact: @Jon7Cups [https://www.7cups.com/@Jon7Cups] If you have any questions, let me know below. Thanks for your help!

Hello! Welcome to the community. We are currently restructuring the forums and other aspects of the community - we appreciate your patience and support. ❤️
