Bio in German/auf Deutsch

Due to my health, I might be offline for some days without a warning from time to time. But don't worry, eventually I'll come back.

Usually, you can expect a response from me within 3 working days. I'm offline during weekends.

About me

Hey, I am audienta (they/them). I have been here on 7 Cups since 2017, so I have had the chance to gather a lot of experiences I am very grateful for. Sometimes life just does not work like we would like it to, but the conversations showed me again and again how resilient we as human beings are.

My own mental and physical health have been challenging me for a while now. I have had to learn how to set boundaries and listen to my own needs. There are days when I can do that and there are others where it does not work. And that is okay. We all give our best to accept and live our life.

I had the honour to be interviewed for the Living with Leaders series, so if you want to know more about me, that might be an option.

Offers and Boundaries

My Offers:

Trained, verified active Listener: I take 1-1 member chats which take between 30 and 60 minutes and listen to you. I am a patient and non-judgemental listener. I cannot give you advice, but I can ask questions and am open to offer peer support and share my experiences if you wish that.

Adult Teen Listener: I can take chats from adults as well as from teens.

Chat Topics that I have experience with and am okay to talk about:

  • Anxiety
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD

  • Bullying

  • Self-Care

  • Student Life

Languages: I can listen to you in English, German and Swissgerman.

My Boundaries:
Only offline chats: I'll respond to your messages within 3 working days, but I'm currently not able to do live chats.

Chat Topics that I am not able to provide support for because of a lack of experience or trigger risk:

  • Family Stress
  • Financial Stress
  • Parenting
  • Relationship Stress/Breakups
  • Self Harm
  • Sexual Health
  • Weight Management

Adult Teen Listener with the Peter Pan, Teen Chat Support, and Teen Quality Mentor badge: I can provide support to adult and teen listeners.

...See more Hello trauma support leaders, I know that our communication tends to be quite informative so I wanted to make this post to tell you that I'm really grateful for all of your engagement and leadership skills. Some of us have learned to be a leader by joining the trauma support community while others already were experienced before joining it and this combination makes the leadership team grow and learn together. I'm really proud of all of you and appreciate your work, your ideas, and your compassion with which you strengthen the community and make its members feel seen and supported.  Thank you, audienta ------------------------- @InsightfulPhoenix @Kieran000 @mytwistedsoul @WillingToHelpU

Trauma Support Community Check-In for September 2024 - National Suicide Prevention Month
Trauma Support / by audienta
Last post
October 4th
...See more Hello everyone, welcome to this month's check-in! This month is National Suicide Prevention Month. The Hashtag is #BeThe1To Ask Asking people if they experience thoughts of suicide and talking about it may reduce suicidal ideation according to research.  Be There Listening to someone without judgement can help a person feel less depressed, suicidal and overwhelmed. Keep Them Safe Making lethal means less available can make suicide rates decline according to a number of studies. Help Them Stay Connected Helping someone create a network of resources and individuals for support and safety can make them feel more hopeful and take positive action. Follow Up A supportive, ongoing contact with a person might be an important part of suicide prevention according to some studies. (Source [https://988lifeline.org/promote-national-suicide-prevention-month/]) And while doing all of this can be helpful to someone else, taking care of yourself is the highest priority. You have to ensure you are okay and safe before taking care of someone else. You can only help others when your own needs are cared for and you have the capacity to share your energy with someone else. If you struggle with suicidal ideations yourself, you can find resources via www.7cups.com/crisis [https://www.7cups.com/crisis/]. ------------------------- Trauma Support Community Check-In for September 2024 1) Name 5 things that make you happy. 2) Which challenges are you facing this month? 3) What are you looking forward to this month? ------------------------- If you have a question you'd like me to ask at the next check-in, please let me know! What to do after a sexual assault
Trauma Support / by audienta
Last post
...See more What to do after a sexual assault If you're in danger, please call your local emergency line. TW: Sexual Assault What is sexual assault? Sexual assault is defined as sexual contact or behaviour that happens without explicit consent. Examples of sexual assault are: * Fondling or unwanted sexual touching * Non-consensual kissing * Forcing a victim to perform sexual acts, such as oral sex or penetrating the perpetrator’s body * Penetration of the victim’s body, also known as rape * Attempted rape What is explicit consent? The consent should be freely and clearly communicated. Also, it can be taken back at any point. You cannot give consent when you’re * incapacitated by drugs or alcohol * feeling pressured, threatened, or intimidated * under the legal age of consent What do I do right after experiencing sexual assault? * If you’re severely injured or in immediate danger, call your emergency line. * If you’re not in immediate danger but do not feel safe, consider calling someone you trust for support. * Know that what happened is not your fault. * If possible, call your local sexual assault hotline or a victim support center. * Go to a health care facility to receive medical attention and a sexual assault forensic exam, also known as “rape kit”. This has to be done within 72h and if possible, you should not go to the bathroom, shower, comb your hair, change your clothes, or clean up the area in which the assault has happened before you have done the exam. * Consider getting Post-Exposure-Prophylaxis, DoxyPEP, or the emergency contraceptive pill to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy depending on what you want and what your doctor recommends. * If you want to, report the assault. If you’re already getting medical attention, you can tell a medical professional that you want to report the assault. Otherwise, you can also call your local police department. What do I do afterwards? * Safety planning Brainstorm what you could do to stay safe and reduce the risk of future harm. Remember that it is not your fault that it happened though. * Therapy Working with a therapist might help with dealing with the challenges you might face after experiencing sexual assault. * Support group Dealing with the aftermath of a sexual assault is hard. But you’re not alone. In support groups you have the option to talk to other people with similar experiences. * Self-Care Making sure that our body and mind are well cared for can make such a difference. Focus on what helps you to feel grounded and safe. * Be careful with media consumption Portrayal of sexual violence in the media can be very triggering for sexual assault survivors. Remember that you don’t have to watch potentially triggering content. Pay attention to trigger or content warnings and read about the content before you watch it. How can 7 Cups help? 7 Cups can only support you while you’re not in crisis, which means, you can’t be actively self-harming, suicidal, in active danger, or planning on hurting someone while using 7 Cups. When you’re safe, this is what 7 Cups can offer: * 1-1 chats with trained listeners You can talk to our trained listeners 24/7. You can browse for listeners here [https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/]. * Open and guided group support chats You can find the schedule of all trauma support discussions here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/trauma/General_2433/ScheduleDiscussionsoftheTraumaSubCommunity_302437/]. * Self-help guides There are different self-help guides available, including one about traumatic experiences. You find all of them here [https://www.7cups.com/supportGuides/selfHelpGuides.php].  * Online therapy 7 Cups offers online therapy for USD §39.75 per week. This includes daily messaging - the therapist responds 1-2 times a day from monday to friday. If you want to have weekly video sessions, this costs additional §55 per week. You can find more information about that here [https://www.7cups.com/online-therapy]. Severe ME Awareness Day

August 13th
...See more Hello everyone, I wanted to post here today as August 8th is Severe ME Awareness Day. (Source [https://worldmealliance.org/2022/08/severe-me-day-august-8th-2022/]) ME is a neuroimmunological multisystem disorder. The main symptom is a severe intolerance to any form of exercise, stress, and stimuli. It also comes with a lot of other symptoms including pain, fatigue, brain fog, orthostatic intolerance, gastroenterological issues, neurological symptoms and so on. ME is categorised into mild, moderate, severe and very severe. Today, we think of those who have severe and very severe ME and of those who have already died of this disease. People with (very) severe ME are mostly or completely bedbound, often have to lie in a dark and quiet room for most of their time, and some are even completely dependent on carers and a feeding tube to stay alive. So far, there is no treatment for ME. The only recommended strategy to deal with it is pacing, which means, staying within your boundaries to not trigger the bad response to exercise, stress and stimuli that I've mentioned before. Healing from ME completely is unlikely at the moment. We can only hope that research finds a solution for all ME patients soon.  Therefore, let's think of the severe(st) ME patients around the world today, hope for a better future for them, and grieve those who we have lost.  Thank you for reading the post. If you want to learn more about ME, here's a link [https://www.meresearch.org.uk/what-is-me/]. MistyMagic has also interviewed someone with ME in the past, so here's the link to the interview [https://www.7cups.com/forum/disabilities/InterviewsDiaries_2664/InterviewLivingwithCFS_328938/]. Trauma Support Community Check-In for August 2024 - Don't Be A Bully Month

...See more Hello everyone, welcome to this month's check-in! This month is "Don't Be A Bully Month"! Bullying can happen to everyone at any age. It can have a massive impact on someone's mental health and can even cause depression, PTSD, and anxiety. Why do people bully? As a few examples, people can bully someone out of jealousy, because they feel threatened, or because they want to express power. Often, bullies have been victims before, which can cause a negative cycle.  You can recognise bullying for example when people claim credit for the work of their target, spread rumours about them, or turn people against the victim. As a bystander, you could try to use humour to redirect the conversation, walk with the victim to help diffuse potential interactions and check in with the bullied person to let them know that you support them. (source 1 [https://www.healthassured.org/blog/dont-be-a-bully-month/]) And if you're bullied yourself, you could try the following strategies: * Decide when you respond; sometimes it might be better to avoid the person. * Make eye contact to signal that you're self-confident. * Try to make space between you and the bully and limit your interactions. * Document the offences to use when filing a complaint or reporting the bully's actions.  * Consider working with a mental health professional to cope with the mental effects of bullying. * Talk to your co-workers/students, friends, and family to feel supported and not alone. (source 2 [https://www.verywellmind.com/how-to-deal-with-adult-bullying-5187158#toc-how-to-deal-with-adult-bullying]) Dealing with a trauma-related mental health disorder can make you an easier target for bullies and being bullied can be traumatic. Therefore, there is a connection between bullying and trauma. If you're reading this and have experienced bullying, please know that you're not alone. We're here for you. ------------------------- Trauma Support Community Check-In for August 2024 1) What is your favourite strategy to stay cool during hot days? 2) Have you ever experienced bullying yourself or as a bystander? How has it impacted you? 3) What has helped you to deal with bullies, as a victim or bystander? ------------------------- If you have a question you'd like me to ask at the next check-in, please let me know!
