What book or talk has helped you?
Hello! We will be reaching out to people to see if they'd like to create a growth path playlist on 7 Cups. These can be authors, experts, or influencers. People that are well known and people not so well known, but have something helpful to say. Any and all are welcome! If a book, movie, or TED talk helped you, then please share here so we can figure out the best way to incorporate their work on 7 Cups. Links to talks or books would also be helpful. Thank you!
Anything by Matthew Kelly! Especially "Resisting Happiness."
@GlenM The Road Less Traveled had a profound affect on my life. I read it while I was still a teenager.

@GlenM
"Year of Yes" by Shonda Rhimes!
It's about self love and saying yes to new things. It's just so amazing, hilarious and inspiring. One of my favourites!
1.) Schizophrenia: Getting Your Life Back Together When You Have Schizophrenia and Diagnosis: Schizophrenia
2.) Extreme Emotions: Eclipses: Beyond the Borderline Personality Disorder
3.) General Self Help: 20,000 Days and Counting
@GlenM There's a ton I know. Brene Brown's Shame book, the first one she wrote; "I thought it was just me (but it isn't)" And her TED talks about shame. Also a lot of books on the site deep-books.co.uk, theyre very spiritual and I understand if people aren't into that but they just might help. Also "Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway" by Susan Jeffers. Also The Teenage Liberation Handbook by Grace Llewellyn is great for teens looking to set themselves free from school and learn the hard old fashioned way that really works and is rewarding, in their own domain of interest. Also Wishcraft by Barbara Sher has been a lifesaver for me and is a self help book that I truly recommend, maybe my favourite of all time (it was mentioned in the Teenage Liberation Handbook). It describes how to find your path your inner genius and let him or her or them grow, to create an environment around yourself as an adult conducive to that growth. Also there's a ton of TED talks I recommend like the one about how stress isn't a bad thing, it's ony bad if you think of it as bad, if you think of it as good and use it it goes away and becomes adrenaline, and the vessels of blood actually dilate in your heart, taking away all the negative health effects of the stress like heart failure and diabetes.
@GlenM
A book I've been reading, called The Book of Awesome lists down a thousand different things that are awesome. It helps to appreciate the little things in life that we often forget, for example, drinking a cold glass of water when you wake up thirsty in the middle of night. It's funny and quite a good stress reliever.
A video by Mufti Menk on forgiveness has helped me stand up on my feet again, after I thought God was punishing me for a mistake I made. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/gFM4r5oO-3c
@GlenM "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie was a life-changing book for me.
"A Grief observed" by C.S. Lewis
He talks about a loss that he went through and compares
it to "amputation". Those of us who lost a loved one whould know.
He never meant to publish these notes that he wrote or
himself.
@GlenM Hi, one book that is helping me is Chameleon Aura by Billy Chapata
Happy: Finding Joy in Every Day and Letting Go of Perfect
Book by Fearne Cotton
The Happiness Trap - Russ Harris
Wherever You Go There You Are - Jon Kabat-Zinn
The Power of Now - Eckhart Toll
The Subtle Art of not Giving a F*ck
It is actually a very good book that makes you think logically. It has helped me focus on the things that truly matter and has boosted my confidence.
@PatBateman06 that's so cool! I tried listening to the audiobook but haven't finished it.:)
Children of emotionally immature parents by Lindsay C. Gibson. Really made me feel less alone, and helped me understand more about my childhood!
The Alchemist has helped me have a broader perspective of things around us

Not a book, but recently a song by Beyoncé called Bigger is just such a glorious song that reminded me of my worth and purpose on this earth. It is just really powerful.
I would say Bounce by Matthew Syed helped me. And Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers also inspired me.
This is not some video or book but my Life experience I guess. When I was in high school I went to a Sikh school that means maximum teachers and students there were Sikhs. Which was really cool I wasn't a Sikh and I came to learn a lot about a religion other than mine.
Our Principal also a Sikh was a tall, well dressed middle age sikh man. He looked really strict and everyone was so so scared of him. He never really talked much. Even on events he would say 1-2lines and walk away.
On my last day of high school I was kindoff anxious if I would ever score high enough to be a valedictorian (A topper ) so I was just standing lol he walks to me and says..So all excited for exams? I was like NO SIR and he looked at me and then I got scared and said Yes sir ! Lol Then he turns to me and smiles ( that was the first time I saw him smile) and says ..always remember "Himmat krne walo ki kabhi har nai hoti" : Which means "If you are Determined to do something , you will never lose ever"
that I think stuck with me. Now I try to do everything with determination and courage.
10 Steps to Take Charge of Your Emotional Life: Overcoming Anxiety, Distress, and Depression Through Whole-Person Healing
This was one of the first books I ever read to gain information about my depression and it helped me greatly
@GlenM
Not really a philosophy book but one book that helped me when I needed to escape reality was the Percy Jackson series, or any Rick Riordan book for that matter.
@probablycomitingtaxfraud I really want to look into Percy Jackson --I started the series a few years ago but wasn't ever able to obtain books further than the first one :)
@charmingdeer909
Man that sucks, its a really good series though and I really suggest reading it when you have the chance, there are also a bunch of books that take place after it that are really cool too :)
@IDontUnderstandBasicMath coolio :)
