World Mental Health Day: Embracing Mindfulness
by ASilentObserver
Last post
October 15th
...See more Hello, community,  I hope you are all taking it easy this week. As we all know World Mental Health Day is observed annually on October 10th. It is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about mental health issues and challenges and promoting well-being. When it comes to promoting well-being, mindfulness is one of the powerful practices to attain it. Today I want us to explore this topic and how it can significantly enhance our mental health.  So what is mindfulness?  It is the practice of being fully present in the moment, without any judgment. It includes paying attention to our thoughts, feelings, and sensations without getting caught up in them. In today's busy world, mindfulness is the key to taking care of our well-being. Some of the benefits of practicing mindfulness are:  * It helps to reduce stress by calming the mind and body. It helps to lower cortisol levels, a hormone associated with stress. * When we are focused on the present moment, mindfulness can help to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. * It helps individuals better understand and manage their emotions, leading to greater emotional resilience. * Regular practice of mindfulness can improve sleep quality by reducing racing thoughts and promoting relaxation. * Also helps individuals become more aware of their thoughts and behaviors, leading to greater self-understanding. By practicing mindfulness in our daily lives, we can improve our mental health and overall well-being. So let's commit to making mindfulness a priority in our daily lives and foster a culture of taking care of ourselves and being compassionate to ourselves and each other. How do you practice mindfulness in daily life? Share your thoughts and tips in the comments below.

Difficult Emotions

...See more Wow life sure is difficult, hard, unfair, just grrrrr sometimes. Right? There are times when we feel anger, anxiety, grief, embarrassment, stress, remorse or other unpleasant emotions.Don't you just want to escape the pain, drown it out or push it away somehow. We may begin a mental struggle with the pain trying to mentally talk our way out of it, or we distract ourselves with activities or drown it out with food or drink or and sometimes very risky behaviors that harm ourselves. All these ways of avoiding pain only mask it in the long run. Avoidance creates suffering and keeps us from living fully, this miraculous and precious life that we have. Through mindfulness you can learn to turn your difficult emotions into your greatest teachers and sources of strength. How? Instead of ‘turning away from pain in avoidance we can learn to gently ‘turn towards what were experiencing. We can bring a caring open attention toward the wounded parts of ourselves and make wise choices about how to respond to ourselves and to life. 1. Stop Turn Towards Once you have become aware of the feeling, stop for a moment. Take a deep breath and then ‘sit with the anger, shame, guilt, anger, anxiety, frustration and fear. Dont inhibit it, suppress it, ignore it or try to conquer it. Just be with it with an attitude of open curiosity and acceptance. 2. Identify The Emotion Acknowledge the emotion is there. If you are embarrassed, you can specifically recognize that feeling. You can mentally say to yourself, for example, I know there is embarrassment in me. 3. Acceptance Of What Is When you are embarrassed, or feeling another difficult emotion, you dont need to deny it. You can accept what is present. Look into how you are feeling with this feeling and try just to be "still" with it and not judge. Now let's all join in on the discussion questions together 1. After reading this post how did it make you feel? 2. Can you share some difficult emotions that you find you are struggling with? (only if you feel safe and comfortable) 3. Mindfulness skills are very important in not controling, but helps you not to have INTENSE feelings, helps you to stop avoiding and judging, but take one feeling on at a time with care which one of these 3 skills are you going to try and why? 4. Is there any other mindfulness skills you do to help you with difficult feelings that you like to share with others here? @awesomerainbow @adocker @adventurousfan @Ady23 @AutumnLeigh @amiablePeace77 @AMusicalSilence @astray @AnActiveListener @AjanMalic @adaptiveLight27 @aifos1976 @agreeablekite4304 @asilentobserver @alfalfasproutdeux @ambitiouschestnut9158 @ambitiouscity3124 @basty @blueocean @BillyWilson @babybenfin @behindhazeleyes @billywilson @BlueberryFriend @blueocean45 @borderinline @BuddhistDracula @blueDiamond @brilliomturtle89 @bluewolf1229 @benevolentOrange31 @callforhelp @char1otte @CrissiArabela @Claito @calmHero86 @courtmarievibes @DarkCoffee @diplomaticShade2167 @Deeperblue @enigmaforte @EnigmaForte @emilyLanes @EmunahHere @EastAfrique @Eccho@Evaparker02 @essdee Fairhouse @FreeSoul1417@fighter23 @Gaara @GhostInTheShellx @Gozzil @happydandan @helpfulHuman4993 @helping2findaway @Harleemoon @honeydinkley @Hereyzzil @hopeless104 @InvisibleAngel92 @Itsybitsyspider91 @inventiveOrange1 @joyoussun45 @kindsoul10 @kirtokun0731@kevan @Kodachrome73 Joe2017 @JustLikeMellie @Jenna0903 @joyoussun47 @JenSee @KatMae @KrinkTheMellowUnicorn @kvo8 @KattPiper @Lionellinu13 @lia345 @Learntolive @LilaGrace @lightforlife @lilynoelle @LilyLila @lightofhope89 @Lovejoy @leothelittlelioncub1 @melliontm @Mikey123 @Musicismyfriend @NoDramaBabyLlama @nourrirvotreame @obie2 @oxfordshiregatsby @passionatepeyton @Pat @peacefulwarrior10 @penguinpower31 @peppermintlove @phoenixAsh @PiecesofYou@pleiades20 @Pininin @PinkMallow @pizzalover1341 @politeAvocado7234 @politelychaotic @Power @princessofcurcus @probius @psalm139 @PurpleSnowflake2310 @politeskies6536 @rachelq @resilience @rumplesteeleskin @rosesway @Rcusick12 @sailorelix @saif1for1 @Saltydog68 @ Samar27 @santysan @sensitiveShade5337 @silverWillow1625 @singblue @smileyPower @Softforesthsp77 @soulrestorer102 @soulsings @Spearstar @sujaypai @SunFern @SunFlower @sweetmango91 @summertimesamness @stillLavender24 @tazcares @tjb28 @tisjme @unicornbunny @victoriia @wildcat85 @Wawas @XxOgSpunBbygrl @yogibear10 @yzxil @zeraphim
Mindfulness & Creativity Co-relationship
by peacefulWarrior10

...See more Wondering whether mindfulness improves creativity, or creativity improves mindfulness is same as wondering whether the hen comes first or the egg! Because it's a reciprocal process, each improves the other. The more your mindfulness helps you focus & better your creation, more your creativity helps you immerse yourself completely in the moment & be more & more mindful. As I write this post, I've put on some relaxing tune on an app & plugged my earphones in since there's a lot of distractions around me at the moment. After all, writing is an expression of creativity as well. No matter how facts & figure centric your content is, your style of writing is what reflects creativity. Today I would like to highlight few aspects of creativity & mindfulness to you & then invite you to join me & try some simple creative activities where you can apply mindfulness very easily & experience some magic! Self-judgement & connecting with yourself : Some people state, "Oh, I've never created a single thing in my life, I'm just not creative!", & then with a wave of hands, they quickly dismiss the very thought of trying something creative, the moment it presents itself. Is creativity reserved for only the Picasso-s, Oscar Wilde-s, Michael Jackson-s & Mozart-s? Or only the great designers, photographers & actors? Creativity is free for all. Your work doesn't have to be compared with anyone else's. Letting go of self-judgement, by mindfully listening to your inner thoughts, is the first step to open yourself to creativity. Because when you judge your creative quotient, your work quality doesn't reflect your true self anymore, & even if you want to improve it, you'll be locked within the confines of your own judgements. But by opening yourself to you, you gradually turn down the volume of your negative self talks & just start enjoying the process of creating something that interests you. In fact, practising creativity is something that you should indulge in every now & then to tune in to your soul & spend some quality time with yourself. Attention over Perfection : Did you like that beautiful dress you saw in the store the other day? Try sketching what you saw or something similar. Use your memory. And where your memory gets weak, support it with your own ideas & experiment with it. That's creativity right there! It doesn't have to be perfect. It only has to express your attention to YOUR creation. That's all the justice you can ever really do to your piece of work. Your work is your personal property & stays only with you until you want to show it to the world. Monotasking & Authentic Creativity : Mindfulness encourages monotasking & when you devote your senses, time & efforts to creating something, no matter how small, simple or big it is, it demands you to monotask. Monotasking helps you be one with your task, focus on it & as I said, your work deserves 100% of your undivided attention. "That's all the justice you can ever really do to it". Monotasking, in turn, brings out the best from you & your creation looks authentic. (Wanted to add in this context that I'm writing this post on my phone's notepad & I actually had to add the word "monotasking" to my phone's auto-correction dictionary! May be you'd like to add it to the dictionary of your life too!) Artist's Block : How do you define an artist's block? Some writers experience writer's block & just can't move on with their work. Well, honestly, it is a moment when you cannot connect with yourself deeply, when you can't focus, when your creativity is stuck due to some bumps on the road, when you can't turn down the volume of your real distractions - emotional, physical, situational. So in a way it can be said that artists experience a block when they're unable to be mindful of their blocks & work through them. Self Care : It is important to note that no matter how novice or pro your work looks like, when you allow yourself to enjoy the process of something, you are embracing self care. Do-It-Yourself : Try to choose something creative and while you do it, be mindful of the process. Cook a special recipe, sing your favorite song & try recording it, give shape to some play dough, choose your favourite letter / the initial of your name & write it on a paper giving it a creative look in as many ways as you can, create a fancy paper boat or indulge in origami, draw easy cartoon sketches to represent how your day has been (you can draw objects that represent or signify your day - bed, ice cream, dress, car, smiles, tears, clock, etc.). Remember, when you're creating anything, do not judge how small or simple it is, it is still a creation & deserves your complete awareness. Also don't judge the results, saying, "oh, this is so ugly..!", or, "told you it's not my cup of tea..!" No matter what you create, learn to appreciate the expression of your work, acknowledge that that's the best you could do in the moment, learn from your own work, & remember, you can always try it again. So what would you like to create today? Get creative with your ideas & share your experience here in this thread. I'll share my experience of my mindful writing, now that I'm at the end of this post. I've been able to find the right words for my thoughts, carefully avoided missing words in between or repeating some, added proper punctuations, avoided typos that are usually caused by my phone's weird auto-correct dictionary, & most importantly, I've satisfactorily written a meaningful content keeping in mind how I want to help my readers with it. It still may have some flaws, but I did my best, that's what matters the most to me, no judgements, but I'm open for improvement! So if I can do it, why can't you? @KrinkTheMellowUnicorn @Pat @Laura @Heather @AutumnLeigh @tazcares @Kason @Power @Hope @kindsoul10 @Mellitm @soulsings @sujaypai @ady23 @rumplesteeleskin @sensitiveShade5337 @basty @joyoussun47 @peacefulwarrior10 @lightforlife @sailorelix @kindsoul10 @yzzil @passionatepeyton @emunahhere @amiablepeace77 @helpingzfindaway @honeydinkley @politelychaotic @fighter23 @Olii

...See more I would like to propose an unusual change in the naming of the days of the week. When working people think of Monday it is often thought of as the start of the drudgery. This is a sad state of affairs. Rather than maintaining this tradition, I propose breaking away and calling Monday a new name: Joyday Reason for change: There is so much to be joyful for. We have a new opportunity to practice being aware of what is happening. No more drudgery doing the same thing over and over again, we live mindfully and every moment can be fresh and new. Rather than seeing ourselves doing the same thing over and over again, we see ourselves as becoming more adept in shifting our awareness to neutral or positive things instead of negative things. Question: What can you find to be joyful about on this brand new day: Joyday? To add or remove your name, please submit this short form http://goo.gl/NQxyyb [http://goo.gl/NQxyyb] @1AlwaysThere1 @303315 @awesomerainbow @adocker @adventurousfan @Ady23 @amicableBlackberry1972 @AutumnLeigh @amiablePeace77 @AMusicalSilence @astray @AnActiveListener @AjanMalic @aifos1976 @agreeablekite4304 @asilentobserver @alfalfasproutdeux @ambitiouschestnut9158 @ambitiouscity3124 @badoinkitydoop @basty @blueocean @BillyWilson @babybenfin @behindhazeleyes @beloved316 @BetterTogether101 @billywilson @blindfaith @BlueberryFriend @BlueMossWeaver27 @blueocean45 @borderinline @brainybrainy @BridgetAileen @brilliantTurtle89 @BuddhistDracula @blueDiamond @brilliomturtle89 @bluewolf1229 @benevolentOrange31 @bk20102kb @butterflycat @busyemptymind @callforhelp @CaringBrit @Catlover1993 @Char1otte @cloudySummer @Zayb4you14 @compassionatelistener108 @CrissiArabela @Claito @calmHero86 @courtmarievibes @Cyanapricot8399 @cyanWater7627 @DanaMH @diplomaticShade2167 @Deeperblue @diplomaticconfucious @discreetOwl14 @elmira73 @enigmaforte @EnigmaForte @emilyLanes @EmOnTheGo @EmunahHere @equanimousCosmos @ErRoach @Evaparker02 @essdee Fairhouse @FreeSoul1417@fighter23 @frozenmermaid @Gaara @ghofrane @GhostInTheShellx @gongoozlersoup19 @Gozzil @happydandan @helpfulHuman4993 @helpfulBranch221 @Harleemoon @houserabbitsrule @HeckhoundBreaker5 @helpfullBranch221 @Hereyzzil @hopeless104 @IcyLight @InvisibleAngel92 @Itsybitsyspider91 @inventiveOrange1 @JayTheBird14 @joyoussun45 @JustMarije @keion @kindsoul10 @kirtokun0731@kevan @klemen @knowledge57 @Kodachrome73 @Joe2017 @JustLikeMellie @Jenna0903 @joyoussun47 @JenSee @Kanzi @KatMae @KokoroHereForYou @KrinkTheMellowUnicorn @kvo8 @KattPiper @Lionellinu13 @lia345 @Learntolive @LilaGrace @lightforlife @lilynoelle @LilyLila @lightofhope89 @Lovejoy @leothelittlelioncub1 @longing4peace @maibock @marsmoon @melliontm @melliotm @Mellietronx @Mikey123 @MistyMagic @motivationalhomegirl @Musicismyfriend @natg @NevaehRose @niceTangerine6642 @NoDramaBabyLlama @NotQuiteBlue @nourrirvotreame @obie2 @onedirection1213 @onwardforevenmore @oxfordshiregatsby @passionateCircle3866 @peacefulwarrior10 @penguinpower31 @peppermintlove @philispohicalShip9444 @PiecesofYou @Pininin @PinkDaisy83 @PinkMallow @pinkpurpleblue15 @Pinnae @pizzalover1341 @politeAvocado7234 @politelychaotic @princessofcurcus @probius @psalm139 @PurpleSnowflake2310 @politeskies6536 @PurpleNina @rachelq @raspberry985 @Ravenclaw7 @Reokiome0928 @RoninSelecta @rosesway @Rcusick12 @rumplesteeleskin @RynnTheBedouin @sailorelix @Saif1for1Resilience @SaimaK @Saltydog68 @ Samar27 @Santysan @SarilinaN @ScarletPear1945 @ScotchTape @seacastle @sendingyoulove @SensitiveApple @sensitiveShade5337 @ShiningSalamander99 @silverIceCream21 @silverWillow1625 @singblue @Sk1ttles @SkolSuper1976 @Softforesthsp77 @soulrestorer102 @soulsings @Spearstar @stillLavender24 @stillplanet @starhawkemystery @sujaypai @SunFern @summertimesamness @SunFlower @supportingearthangel @sweetmango91 @sweetMelody95 @ThePersonYouCanNeverKnow @TheRoseHeartz @TheSciKid @tjb28 @tisjme @TrinnitysLight81 @24x7Awesome @Understandinggirl1990 @uselesscookies @Vargasb @victoriia @wildcat85 @Wawas @westvirginia @wizeakre @XxOgSpunBbygrl @yzzil @zeraphim
"Mind"fulness or "Mindful"ness?
by
Last post
January 8th
...See more Yes! Because what you choose of the above two make a big difference! :D Now what exactly do i mean by the two terms "Mind"fulness and "Mindful"ness? Well, "Mind"fulness is the state where your mind is full or filled with thoughts of maybe the future or past or worries about your children, parents, significant others etc. And this this state is far from the reality of what the term "being mindful" means. The other term however "mindful"ness refers to you being aware of your mind and aware of your thoughts and actions synced with them. You are "minding" what you are doing and know the thoughts crossing your mind, NOT filling the mind with it! Yup, See! youre being mindful while commenting :D Good job! Have a nice day!

Toxins: Rumination and Worry

...See more Dear Readers, As most of you know there are many states of mind that can rob us of our peace. For the sake of this post we are going to discuss worry and rumination. Rumination involves rehashing the past through obsessive negative thought and regret while worry pertains to negative concerns for the future. These can swiftly interrupt our calm and/or ability to bathe in the present moment, stealing our ability to think clearly, and can cost us valuable moments of our lives. Here I would like to share some food for thought regarding our current relationship with these two states of mind. Please take the time to reflect during this exercise and put some thought into your responses. Part I: Rumination What can be done to stop ruminating? Here are some tips that may help. 1. Identify the thought or fear. What is your biggest fear? Maybe you are afraid of getting fired or looking foolish in front of others. Journaling can be a great way to clarify the underlying fear. 2. Think about the worst-case scenario. This may sound like an awful suggestion, but we can often handle the worst-case scenario, which takes away the power of the original thought. Ask yourself two questions: What is the worst thing that can happen? Can I handle that? Most likely, the answer is yes. Human beings are very resilient. Remember, sometimes our biggest hardships can turn into our biggest growth experiences. For example, I once worked with a client who was devastated after losing his job. He survived it, and as it turned out, this ended up being a blessing in disguise. It allowed him to find a position that fit his interests and lifestyle, leading to a more fulfilling and meaningful career. 3. Let go of what you can not control. THIS HAS BEEN A BIG PERSONAL HURDLE FOR ME AS MUCH OF MY ANXIETY AND PANIC STEMMED FROM A PLACE OF THE PERCEPTION OF CONTROL. 4. Look at mistakes as learning opportunities. 5. Schedule a worry break. Schedule 20 to 30 minutes a day to worry and make the most of it. This allows for a time and place to think about all your biggest insecurities while containing it to a specific period of time. At other times of the day, remind yourself that you will have time to contemplate later. 6. Mindfulness. We spend so much time thinking about past mistakes or worrying about future events, that we spend very little time in the here and now. A good example of this is every time we find ourselves on autopilot while driving a car.The practice of mindfulness is a great way to reduce our thinking selves and increase our sensing selves in the here and now. For example, ask yourself what you hear, feel, smell, see and taste. This can help ground you in the present moment. Mindfulness is an important skill for enjoying the significant moments in life. Enjoying coffee with a friend can be disrupted if we begin thinking about all the things we need to do that day. When you notice your mind wandering, gently guide it back to the present. 7. Exercise 8. Try Therapy Review the full article at Psych Central, 8 Tips to Help Stop Ruminating, By [http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2014/02/16/8-tips-to-help-stop-ruminating/]Lauren Feiner, PsyD [http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/author/lauren-feiner/] [http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2014/02/16/8-tips-to-help-stop-ruminating/] Additional Reading: Very Well, Rumination And How It Affects Your Life: Learn How Rumination Exacerbates Your Stress Levels [http://www.verywell.com/how-rumination-affects-your-life-3144940], By Elizabeth Scott, MS [https://www.verywell.com/elizabeth-scott-m-s-stress-management-expert-3144382] - Reviewed by a board-certified [https://www.verywell.com/about-us#ReviewBoard] physician. Part II: Worry On the one hand I believe worry can be an excellent tool when used properly. It can assist in problem solving or avoiding crises. However, worry at great length can be responsible for sleepless nights, anxiety, and depression. Worrying can be helpful when it spurs you to take action and solve a problem. But if youre preoccupied with what ifs and worst-case scenarios, worry becomes a problem. Unrelenting doubts and fears can be paralyzing. They can sap your emotional energy, send your anxiety levels soaring, and interfere with your daily life. But chronic worrying is a mental habit that can be broken. You can train your brain to stay calm and look at life from a more positive perspective. What can be done about it? 1. Schedule a worry break. (see above list for review) 2. Ask if your problem is solvable: Distinguish between solvable and unsolvable worries If a worry pops into your head, start by asking yourself whether the problem is something you can actually solve. The following questions can help: Is the problem something you're currently facing, rather than an imaginary what-if? If the problem is an imaginary what-if, how likely is it to happen? Is your concern realistic? Can you do something about the problem or prepare for it, or is it out of your control? [Dealing with unsolvable worries But what if the worry isnt something you can solve? If youre a chronic worrier, the vast majority of your anxious thoughts probably fall in this camp. In such cases, its important to tune into your emotions...Learn to embrace your feelings. (Self-Care/Compassion)] 3. Challenge anxious beliefs: Stop worrying by questioning the anxious thought Whats the evidence that the thought is true? That its not true? Is there a more positive, realistic way of looking at the situation? Whats the probability that what Im scared of will actually happen? If the probability is low, what are some more likely outcomes? Is the thought helpful? How will worrying about it help me and how will it hurt me? What would I say to a friend who had this worry? Here are some examples of other cognitive distortions: 4. Accept uncertainty: To understand the problems of refusing to accept uncertainty, ask yourself the following 4 questions and write down your responses. Is it possible to be certain about everything in life? What are the advantages of requiring certainty, versus the disadvantages? Or, how is needing certainty in life helpful and unhelpful? Do you tend to predict bad things will happen just because they are uncertain? Is this a reasonable thing to do? What is the likelihood of positive or neutral outcomes? Is it possible to live with the small chance that something negative may happen, given its likelihood is very low? Source: Accepting Uncertainty, Centre for Clinical Interventions 5. Be aware of how others affect you: *Keep a worry diary. *Spend less time with people who make you anxious. * Choose your confidantes carefully. 6. Practice mindfulness: Acknowledge and observe your anxious thoughts and feelings. Dont try to ignore, fight, or control them like you usually would. Instead, simply observe them as if from an outsiders perspective, without reacting or judging. Let your worries go. Notice that when you dont try to control the anxious thoughts that pop up, they soon pass, like clouds moving across the sky. Its only when you engage your worries that you get stuck. Stay focused on the present. Pay attention to the way your body feels, the rhythm of your breathing, your ever-changing emotions, and the thoughts that drift across your mind. If you find yourself getting stuck on a particular thought, bring your attention back to the present moment. Using mindfulness meditation to stay focused on the present is a simple concept, but it takes practice to reap the benefits. At first, youll probably find that your mind keeps wandering back to your worries. Try not to get frustrated. Each time you draw your focus back to the present, youre reinforcing a new mental habit that will help you break free of the negative worry cycle. ...See more Moving along, Another unlikely, but highly beneficial!, space to practice mindfulness is on our daily commute. As the article below mentions, because many of us commute twice a day- this is an amazing opportunity to form new habits. "For those who drive to work, the daily commute is often a tense time of bumper-to-bumper gridlock, erratic and dangerous driving, delays, road closures, and construction. And best of all, we get to do it twice a day. Concerned about wasting time, we often try to catch up on all the little things we think we can do while stuck in traffic or at a red light – jotting down to-do lists or reading email. Id argue that theres a better use of your daily commute: practicing mindfulness. By practicing mindfulness throughout your commute, you can develop focus and create calm and relaxation, arriving at the office refreshed and ready for the day, and at the end of the day, arriving at home ready to enjoy the evening. Since we commute twice a day, its a powerful opportunity to form new habits." *Read the full article at Harvard Business Review, Your Car Commute Is a Chance to Practice Mindfulness [http://hbr.org/2014/11/your-car-commute-is-a-chance-to-practice-mindfulness]

...See more Dear Readers, As an avid reader books are incredibly important to me. Right now I am making my way down the list of classics and while some of them are controversial, I find it very important to always be seeking and searching for wisdom in every area of our lives. I believe literature that challenges conventional thinking is especially important. Also, certain philosophies can aid us in our journey toward mindfulness, meditation, and healing- while broadening our scope and understanding of the world around us. The Mindfulness Center welcomes you to a place where it is okay to just be, and not worry about 100 things. You can observe nature or your own room, follow your breath going in and out, or be aware of your feet touching the sidewalk as you head home. It is all mindfulness.

There are no hard and fast rules on how to be mindful, and you do not have to do anything a certain way. There are guidelines to help us stay on the path of mindfulness, like in the Daily Checkins, where team members share insights and tips about mindfulness. You can join in the discussions there, or in any of the forum threads.

You will also find videos in the resource center that talk about what is mindfulness and guide us on a journey to having an actual experience right now of what it feels like to be free of our “thought train”, as we let ourselves go and relax a bit. If all of this sounds good, join us for hosted sessions in which you can discuss and experience mindfulness first hand.

Stop and breath. Respect yourself and have compassion for what you are going through.

Notice what is happening around you that your senses are telling you. Feel the breath go in and go out.

Feel good about yourself. Life has brought you on a journey up to here. That is reason to celebrate and appreciate all that life offers. And listen and feel the breath!
