...See more Check In for : November 21st to November 24th 2024 When we reset our minds does not mean we are erasing hardship it means we are navigating gracefully.  In the fast paced world we are living in sometimes we feel overloaded and tired. By accepting what we are going through we can reduce any stress and begin to embrace a peaceful way. Resilience is how we recover from things and are able to move on. We reshape and reframe our minds and fix a situation back to being normal. Every so often things have us feel like we are in a tornado. Things begin to get unclear and we have to take a moment to regroup  How can we restart our mind here is a following ways: Accept the chaos - Recognize what is happening and embrace it because we can overcome this. Embrace flexibility - embrace what may be going on, feel the emotions we are in and practice cognitive flexibility. This when we recognize what is happening and prepare ourselves to change it.  Honor Rhythms - Find a way to  support our mental and physical well being. Find a meaning - sometimes spiritually getting in our mind can help us cope. By practicing meditation along with mindfulness can help us become better. How do you deal with setbacks? How do you cope with pressure? ✅ To add yourself to this taglist, press the Post to Thread button below and write the exact words Please add me. ❌ To remove yourself from this taglist, press the Post to Thread button below and write the exact words Please remove me. @4551SP @adventurousBranch3786 @Admirablerainbow2825 @Agent22 @alexandralee @AllAboutThePeace11 @amiablePeace77@asherb281 @avistaco @CaringSub @CatHanderOutNoah  @communicativeJet616 @dapperBeach8823 @daydreammemories @DragonspanAnge @EchoOrAsh @etherealize @Falcon05 @fearlessMaple308 @FloraBelle @ForestZen @frankPark1546 @GentleHealingInitiative @Goldenfox2009 @greenScarf6235 @hardworkingBeechwood6063 @healingsoul4892 @iloveyouxx @indigoBeechwood597 @infiniteforever12 @InsightfulPhoenix @Invisibility101 @JarofSeeds627 @jaywalkk @Kickan75 @kindRiver6 @kivesh @Littlejoy11 @livinggadget @mytwistedsoul @nessapressure05 @NurseJose @NotAllHere713 @onwardforevenmore @pamharley003 @PeacefulBeach3454 @peacefulDovex @PopPunkPrincess17 @Rainboho @rebeccastgo @sincereGrapefruit83  @sky2Ocean20 @Snowy00 @spongbobishappy @sunshineBeauty5741 @Swordpsalm @tallZebra8032 @Tinywhisper11 @toughApricot223 @warmMemory6263 @VKlistening @yellowPineapple3652 @yzzil @Zeraphim
Summary Discussion The Fear of Aging
50 & Over Community / by pamharley003
Last post

...See more Last week in the discussion We spoke about the fear of aging> I would like to add a little more to it of the 5 fears of aging and what they mean. As we all begin to get older we are faced with some concerns for ourselves. I know personally I am going to be 60 soon and wonder do I have my life where it needs to be and to what means can I make to make sure my life ones are taken care of. There are 5 main fear to people as we get old: 1. Losing independence - We fear as we grow older the need to ask family or friends for help because we can not do things like we did when we were younger. We may ask for help around the inside and outside of our homes because we can not bend or carry things we need to do in keeping our homes looking good.  We may ask in helping to take care of ourselves if we are living with our children because we grew to old to live alone. We may have a hard time cooking or just plain taking care of our hygiene.  2. Deteriorating health - As we begin to age we may be faced with medical bot mental and physical health problems. We may have a stroke enabling us not to function with daily activities. We may have a heart attack , cancer or alzeheimer disease. 3. Loneliness - When we live alone because our children grew old enough to leave home or lost a spouse to passing away we experience being sad to be alone. Our children may live in another star or country and seeing them like we did can cause loneliness. 4. Financial insecurities - As we age we begin to worry if we will have money to survive as the economy is changing, forcing more demand on rent, gas for vehicles, food increases and medication increases.  We begin to wonder if our Social Security will be enough to make ends meet or will we have to take on part time jobs just to survive. 5. Death - not a topic I want to think about but it is a way of life and we need to make sure our finances are in place if we should leave it to others to take care of. Many begin to feel if there will be pain and suffering experienced when we do pass.  How can we deal with these fears mentioned above, we can keep a healthy intake of our lives. We can eat and exercise more to prolong a healthy life style. We begin to take hold of our emotional help speaking to family or friends maybe even seeing a therapist to help us cope with it. We can get involved in community activities to keep our time going and not be lonely. Take courses on aging so we can be better prepared for the process.  What are some fears you may have and how can we support each other so we are not alone? to add or remove your name from the taglist Accepting your beautiful self being

...See more Check In: November 18th to November 20th 2024 When you hear the word beauty what does it mean to you? Beauty is the outward appearance.  If we are told we are too fat or negative compliments then we lower our self confidence.  Society lies to us because our beauty comes from within ourselves. Some people show their beauty on the outside while being negative from the inside.  We have been taught through out our lives that the appearance does not matter. When you think beauty think of how you feel simply being you. No one is perfect we all make mistakes in life. When I hear the word beauty I think of beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Beauty comes from my inside, my heart felt commitments to other. Sure I may not be pretty to others on the outside but my heart is their for anyone even those who are not nice to me. Summary of discussion for this week

...See more Check In Nov 15th to Nov 17th Hi my name is Pam and I will be doing posts for this Community. You probably already seen I do Monday to Wednesday. The check in posts for friday to sunday will be a brief summary of what was discussed for the week. I will try to include a link for both discussion so you may further read on them if you would like. This week's discussion topics: Steps in Self Acceptance and accepting yourself - Coming to terms with yourself and how mindfulness can help. Steps in Self Acceptance and accepting yourself: How do we find the necessary steps in finding self accepting for ourselves, fist we must self aware and make a plan to set an intention. By recognizing our feelings, and pain, thoughts, welcoming them and separate ourselves for them is the beginning of how we accept self acceptance. Self acceptance is to forgive ourselves by showing compassion for ourselves  and not to judge ourselves. We understand that in a certain situation we did our best and should not put ourselves down for it but to work on rebuilding this into a positive. When we achieve this goal we can look at ourselves better in the mirror and smile. We can praise ourselves that we did something good and to reward ourselves for it.  The following link are 25 exercises we can practice for self acceptance https://positivepsychology.com/self-acceptance/   How to cope on bad days using mindfulness: Mindfulness can be incorporated into our daily routine such examples drinking coffee first thing in the morning, playing with our children or pets, doing morning chores or just sitting looking outside our windows.  When having as I call them off days tell yourself it is a bump in the road and that we can overcome them. Reflect on the positive things we have in life and smile. A bad day to me is like when I am not feeling well. One thing we can do when having a bad days is breathing skills. We can also try grounding. When we have a bad day stop and do some type of breathing skill and tell ourselves afterwards it will be okay or try laughter.  3 ways to get over a bad day: https://www.wikihow.com/Get-Over-a-Bad-Day Share with us 1 thing from both discussions and we will share our ways also ✅ To add yourself to this taglist, press the Post to Thread button below and write the exact words Please add me. ❌ To remove yourself from this taglist, press the Post to Thread button below and write the exact words Please remove me. @4551SP @adventurousBranch3786 @Admirablerainbow2825 @Agent22 @alexandralee @AllAboutThePeace11 @amiablePeace77@asherb281 @avistaco @CaringSub @CatHanderOutNoah  @communicativeJet616 @dapperBeach8823 @daydreammemories @DragonspanAnge @EchoOrAsh @etherealize @Falcon05 @fearlessMaple308 @FloraBelle @ForestZen @frankPark1546 @GentleHealingInitiative @Goldenfox2009 @greenScarf6235 @hardworkingBeechwood6063 @healingsoul4892 @iloveyouxx @indigoBeechwood597 @infiniteforever12 @InsightfulPhoenix @Invisibility101 @JarofSeeds627 @jaywalkk @Kickan75 @kindRiver6 @kivesh @Littlejoy11 @livinggadget @mytwistedsoul @nessapressure05 @NurseJose @NotAllHere713 @onwardforevenmore @pamharley003 @PeacefulBeach3454 @peacefulDovex @PopPunkPrincess17 @Rainboho @rebeccastgo @sincereGrapefruit83  @sky2Ocean20 @Snowy00 @spongbobishappy @sunshineBeauty5741 @Swordpsalm @tallZebra8032 @Tinywhisper11 @toughApricot223 @warmMemory6263 @VKlistening @yellowPineapple3652 @yzzil @Zeraphim
Judgement and beliefs with Mindfulness

...See more Check In for November 11th to November 13th 2024 Happy Veterans Day to those who celebrate this day and to those who have served in our Armed Forces  or with children in the Armed Forces we thank you for your service. This week's forum post is about judgement and beliefs in Mindfulness. Judgment is defined as the act or instance of judging. The ability to judge, make your own decision and form of an opinion objectively.  A belief is defined as to have trust, faith and confidence in someone.  We as humans are active thinkers constantly thinking about things everyday. It is like the expression " MY mind is all over the place" is because we are not just thinking of one thing, Our minds may have several things floating around. When someone in our life does wrong by us there are many things we begin to think about "why they did or said something"  " Why did they have to hurt me" "what did I do wrong for them to be rude or disrespectful to me". This is known as over thinking because we begin to have things floating around our mind of what happened. The following is a handout of non judgmental mindfulness: https://tinyurl.com/ajv9n748 In the above caption which one have you tried and does it help you? ✅ To add yourself to this taglist, press the Post to Thread button below and write the exact words Please add me. ❌ To remove yourself from this taglist, press the Post to Thread button below and write the exact words Please remove me. @4551SP @adventurousBranch3786 @Admirablerainbow2825 @Agent22 @alexandralee @AllAboutThePeace11 @amiablePeace77@asherb281 @avistaco @CaringSub @CatHanderOutNoah  @communicativeJet616 @dapperBeach8823 @daydreammemories @DragonspanAnge @EchoOrAsh @etherealize @Falcon05 @fearlessMaple308 @FloraBelle @ForestZen @frankPark1546 @GentleHealingInitiative @Goldenfox2009 @greenScarf6235 @hardworkingBeechwood6063 @healingsoul4892 @iloveyouxx @indigoBeechwood597 @infiniteforever12 @InsightfulPhoenix @Invisibility101 @JarofSeeds627 @jaywalkk @Kickan75 @kindRiver6 @kivesh @Littlejoy11 @livinggadget @mytwistedsoul @nessapressure05 @NurseJose @NotAllHere713 @onwardforevenmore @pamharley003 @PeacefulBeach3454 @peacefulDovex @PopPunkPrincess17 @Rainboho @rebeccastgo @sincereGrapefruit83  @sky2Ocean20 @Snowy00 @spongbobishappy @sunshineBeauty5741 @Swordpsalm @tallZebra8032 @Tinywhisper11 @toughApricot223 @warmMemory6263 @VKlistening @yellowPineapple3652 @yzzil @Zeraphim
Befriending our powerful emotions
Mindfulness Center / by pamharley003
Last post

...See more Check In November 3rd to November 6th 2024 It is important to know why befriending our feelings that is everyday feelings, anxiety, depression, fear and grief. It is common to feel a bit anxious or scared before we do things it can be a presentation at work or a feeling of proud after winning something like a competition in school event.  We begin to feel our heart beat faster, being jittery where we can not sit or stand still these our emotions. Some emotions can make us upset a loss of a loved one or pet or child, loss of a job promotion. We hold ourselves to show the outer core of being okay when inside we are really not okay.  We try to find a path that help us move forward in expressing our feelings. It is how we ask for others to help us or we turn to Mindfulness to help us cope with feelings. Feelings simply mean we are alive and human beings not to be judged or criticized for how we feel.  Living life fully means having an open heart. We use all our senses: touch, smell, hear and taste. When feelings are noticed people will tend to become calmer.  examples: is it okay to feel this way?  it's not the end of the world we will get over it?  it's a feeling of being human Above is a primary of emotions. Which of these are you feeling right now? how can we make you feel calmer? how do you feel when your emotions are running wild? how do you calm yourself down. We need as a community to show love not only to ourselves but to others in the mindfulness community. We need to show support and not be afraid to ask for support. ...See more Check In for October 28th to October 30th 2024 Grounding helps us control the symptoms by turning away from thoughts, worry and worries and keep us in the present state of mind. Has anyone heard of the 5,4,3,2,1 exercise? I honestly have not and will explain what it is and to also give an image to help better understand it.  This is a powerful exercise when we need it. A mindfulness exercise helps us to come out of things and to ground ourselves to be calmer.  The exercise is for us to:  * 5 things you can see * 4 things you can feel * 3 things you can hear * 2 things you can smell * 1 thing you can taste * These grounding exercises are both mentally and emotionally helping us for situations that make us uncomfortable.  The following image explains grounding better: Which of the examples above would you try? What is an exercise you use when needing to ground yourself back to the present time? @4551SP @adventurousBranch3786 @Admirablerainbow2825 @Agent22 @alexandralee @AllAboutThePeace11 @amiablePeace77@asherb281 @avistaco @CaringSub @CatHanderOutNoah  @communicativeJet616 @dapperBeach8823 @daydreammemories @DragonspanAnge @EchoOrAsh @etherealize @Falcon05 @fearlessMaple308 @FloraBelle @ForestZen @frankPark1546 @GentleHealingInitiative @Goldenfox2009 @greenScarf6235 @hardworkingBeechwood6063 @healingsoul4892 @iloveyouxx @indigoBeechwood597 @infiniteforever12 @InsightfulPhoenix @Invisibility101 @JarofSeeds627 @jaywalkk @Kickan75 @kindRiver6 @kivesh @Littlejoy11 @livinggadget @mytwistedsoul @nessapressure05 @NurseJose @NotAllHere713 @onwardforevenmore @pamharley003 @PeacefulBeach3454 @peacefulDovex @PopPunkPrincess17 @Rainboho @rebeccastgo @sincereGrapefruit83  @sky2Ocean20 @Snowy00 @spongbobishappy @sunshineBeauty5741 @Swordpsalm @tallZebra8032 @Tinywhisper11 @toughApricot223 @warmMemory6263 @VKlistening @yellowPineapple3652 @yzzil @Zeraphim
Three components of Mindfuleness

...See more Check In October 20th to October 23rd 2024 Mindfulness brings awareness to our attention , on purpose and in the present state without being judged.  There are 3 components of mindfulness:  Intention: by choosing our awareness and cultivating from it. Attention: to be in the present moment feeling our sensation and our thoughts. Attitude: being kind to ourselves and others, curious about our surroundings and not judging others as we would not want to be judged. The following are characteristics of mindfulness. Intention: the first step to mindfulness We set attentions to be in the presence. by setting an intention we are in the presence where we how we want to focus on experience. We want to be kind positive and write down on paper what we intend for ourselves. Once we have this written down we place attention to our breathing and how our body feels. detours and distractions: we try not to let things steer us away from our feelings and breathing. We stay on course to work around them to feel better.  Does mindfulness help you get through hard times? How do you allow yourself not to be stuck or to hit a bump in the road? @4551SP @adventurousBranch3786 @Admirablerainbow2825 @alexandralee @AllAboutThePeace11 @amiablePeace77 @avistaco @CaringSub @CatHanderOutNoah  @communicativeJet616 @dapperBeach8823 @daydreammemories @EchoOrAsh @etherealize @Falcon05 @FloraBelle @ForestZen @frankPark1546 @hardworkingBeechwood6063 @healingsoul4892 @iloveyouxx @infiniteforever12 @InsightfulPhoenix @JarofSeeds627 @jaywalkk @Kickan75 @kindRiver6 @kivesh @Littlejoy11 @livinggadget @mytwistedsoul @nessapressure05 @NurseJose @NotAllHere713 @onwardforevenmore @pamharley003 @PeacefulBeach3454 @peacefulDovex @PopPunkPrincess17 @Rainboho @rebeccastgo @sincereGrapefruit83  @sky2Ocean20 @Snowy00 @spongbobishappy @Swordpsalm @tallZebra8032 @Tinywhisper11  @warmMemory6263 @yellowPineapple3652 @yzzil @Zeraphim
