What does inner child mean ?

Inner child means the understanding and healing of the wounds we have experienced as a child that we may hold onto. How do you process it is by understanding our past behaviors and replace them with positive coping skills and the present -day beliefs we have to accept for who we are today.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is when we work along with a therapist to heal our past traumas we went through and to rebuild ourselves from it.

Is there a past trauma you would like to share where we can support you into repairing that ?

How can you repair a past trauma?

@pamharley003

Thank you for that useful thread pam!

How can you repair a past trauma?  I believe getting support to process the trauma and learning ways to identify and deal with the triggers is the most efficient way. Trauma includes painful flashbacks so learning grounding skills is very helpful.

A support team is important to us so we know we are not alone in dealing with whatever trauma we are faced with

I agree! 💚

My father was an abusive alcoholic until I was 13 years old.

I don't remember much of my childhood for obvious reasons.

@courageouspanda2006

I can relate after my parent's divorce I wiped out a lot of my childhood to move on in life. It is hard I bet to remember sometime of happiness in a childhood upbringing like that

@pamharley003

for us with DID inerchild is more then one.  the children stuck in like time we had trauma  so need love and to be accepted for who they be. also for their pain. to be given emotional support love and being accepted. we re-parent the inside children'. giving the things they never got when we was young. like emotional support, love. being accepted just as they be.

we found when given this and time to be  just a child. to do fun things and not worry about being yelled at or hit etc

How about forensic! Something is so wrong!

My inner child keeps getting hurt!

I'm sorry for your pain. I had difficult childhood as well. My recovery included mature women who befriended me and they became my inner-child's parents.
