I feel many negative emotions such as anger, sadness, hopelessness etc.
I use some strategies such as praying, journaling, physical activity to reduce these feelings of negativity within myself.
@Admirablerainbow2825
It sounds like you have it covered with how to deal with it. I also do a few of what you do seems journaling really helps me to work on the negative I am dealing with.

@Admirablerainbow2825 You may try practicing forgiveness and mindfulness as well.

Yes, thank you 🙂

How do you feel when experiencing negative thoughts?
How do you work on letting go of any negative thoughts?
There are days when old negative thoughts are visiting me. What helps me to let go of them is
1. Check my physical/mental state
Am I feeling tired or exhausted maybe because of the heat or emotional struggles in my physical life?
2. Where are these thoughts coming from? Are they based on things I was told as a child?
3. Put my thoughts on trial
What is the evidence for them, are there any cognitive distortions? Am I seeing only black and white, am I catastrophizing?
Is it part of being highly sensitive too?

@amiablePeace77 I am writing answer for your questions. Thank you for sharing your questions.
How do you feel when experiencing negative thoughts?
Answer: General feeling is fear of failure of something and self-doubt.
How do you work on letting go of any negative thoughts?
There are days when old negative thoughts are visiting me. What helps me to let go of them is
Answer: Think of one negative thought at a time and see if that is valid and important thought or not. If it is not important just tell your mind to "let it go".
If it is important then think of root cause of the thought and try to find some solutions by yourself or through friends or experts and tell you mind that "it is solved." If it is unsolvable and not affecting much then tell your mind that "I will deal with it later."
1. Check my physical/mental state
Am I feeling tired or exhausted maybe because of the heat or emotional struggles in my physical life?
Answer: You are possibly right that overthinking creates the heat or emotional struggles in my physical life. Therefore find root-cause and use above method to slowly overcome. Also engage with friends and family and enjoy life as much as possible.
2. Where are these thoughts coming from? Are they based on things I was told as a child?
Answer: You can slowly try to find root-cause of those issues yourself with help from family or psychologist. Sometimes those issues are not relevant but it holds fear into the mind. So always talk with family and friend to find solutions.
3. Put my thoughts on trial
What is the evidence for them, are there any cognitive distortions? Am I seeing only black and white, am I catastrophizing?
Answer: If you are thinking too much without recognizing trigger points and root causes you may feel cognitive distortions which is analysis paralysis. You may be feeling catastrophizing but you are good and brave to express your feeling. Such this may not real and that's why out of fear you may be seeing black and mind. So do not hold any toxic thoughts in your mind which do not belong to you. Command those thoughts to go aways. Try to do mindfulness activities and remind that your life is beautiful, and you are a happy person.
Is it part of being highly sensitive too?
Answer: You may be a sensitive person which is fine. I am too sensitive person. We need to understand what issues make us sensitive and then work on them sensibly. You are doing well. Make friends and enjoy life.
