Hello Leadership Crew!
I have just gone through the introduction thread and read about all of you. If you havent yet introduced yourself, then please stop by and share a little about yourself so we can get to know you. Im encouraged by all the great people that have joined. This should be a fun and enriching program!
Let me first zoom back and talk more broadly about your career and how we can help. When you become a leader on 7 Cups, we want you to find the work fulfilling. Fulfilling work means that it is:
a) work you are good at;
b) work that is interesting to you; and
c) work that solves an important problem or meets an important goal (Thiel, 2015).
The sweet spot is that blue area in the middle below.
If you do work that you are good at, but not interested in, then you wont do a great job. If you do work that you are interested in, but not particularly good at, then it wont be great work. If you do work that you are good at and interested in, but it isnt helping to solve an important problem, then we wont be a good fit for you. We need alignment on all 3 things. We work very hard at the beginning of your work with us to match your inherent strengths and interests with needs we have so that we can work together to solve problems that we all care about.
You have strengths â things that you are just really good at when compared with others. Operating out of your strengths feels good, is personally fulfilling, and enables you to hit flow states. As a result, you are much more effective and productive. Operating out of weaknesses is a drain. If you have to do work that you are not good at, then you wont be as effective. Doubling down on your strengths enables you to level up much faster and it helps 7 Cups make much more progress. Â
The next step becomes helping you find ways to identify your strengths, gifts or natural talents. You can learn some of this through self-observation - what do you seem especially good at? Are there things that just come natural to you that are more challenging for others? My wife, for example, is really good at writing; it just comes natural to her. Im pretty good at public speaking, whereas others find it more challenging.
Another way is to ask people you trust. You can say: What do you think Im good at? Or: what do you think are my top 1-3 strengths? Things that stand out to you about me? Note: only ask people you trust because sometimes people can give you feedback in a harmful rather than helpful way especially if they are not trustworthy.
For the purposes of this course, we are going to use personality tests to help you identify your strengths. Some of these are better than others; they are more reliable and have more research behind them. Broadly, we are using them here to help you begin to map out your strengths and to help you find ways where you can naturally excel here on 7 Cups, in your personal life, and in whatever career your are in or choose further down the road.
To start:
Go to this site here and take the test: https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test
Next, in the thread below, answer the following questions:
1. What is your personality type? Include your 4 letters please Â
2. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.
Last, when people interact with one another, it makes the course more enriching and it allows us to learn more about one another. In addition to posting in the thread, please also be sure to respond in a helpful and positive way to at least 3 other comments in this thread.
You can also ask any questions in this thread and well respond to them as well.
Very excited to kick this off with all of you!
After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please check out the next post here! You must take part in the brainstorming/activities given in all of these posts to successfully complete the program.
This post is brought to you by the Leadership Development Program Team, find out more information about the program here.

3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.
🍪 Imaginative; I use insight and creativity to speak to other people's hearts.

@RebekahRebel I defintely like to push boundaries too
@RebekahRebel Sensitive to others! We love that :-). And I wouldn't worry about the egotistical part--I think it's part of human nature to unleash a bit of our egos.
@smilingsnapples
I totally agree, thank you!
@RebekahRebel I really liked reading how you use your creativity and empathy to help others. Getting a positive image reading this!

@thisisirene
Hiya sweet Irene
@GlenM
1. What is your personality type?
I am an INFJ-T (Turbulent Advocate).
2. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I learned a lot about my traits to work on, or weak points. Like how true it is that I am easily burned out. Or that I'm an extremely private person with my personal life. It really resonated with me things I already knew about myself.
3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.
My top strengths are **insigthful (seeing through dishonesty, and see how people and events are connected);
**inspiring and convincing (my style of speech or writing is fluid and connecting. I speak with passion, pride and warmth);
and **determined and passionate (when I believe something is important, the goal is pursued with conviction and energy that can catch others as a surprise).
@AstronomySkies
We seem to have a similar personality. 😊 It is fascinating to see that due to its proclaimed rarity, many of us are here. Which makes a lot of sense considering we are the type to want to help people in an altruistic and creative way. 💖
@AstronomySkies You are so kind and good to people I see you daily being a wonderful listener and leader
@AstronomySkies We've got similar personality❤️
@AstronomySkies its so amazing how you feel about your personality type and the strengths and weaknesses along with it 😁
@AstronomySkies
We have the same personality! I really like the strength of determined and passionate (although I didn't include that in mine) because it shows that when you care for something you put a lot of effort in to it (although self care is also an important thing to remember!)
@AstronomySkies
I can surely see how that resonates with you specifically insightful and convincing, i see your awesome performance in the listener support room , keep up the good work!! 🥳
@AstronomySkies
What's weird is that when I took this test like a year ago, I believe I got this personality. I'm not sure if I have evolved in a year, but it would be interesting how much we change over the years. It is easy to burn out and is important for you to practice self-care when this happens.
@shiningDay80
I agree. Self care is very important when we burn out or even when we feel ourselves getting a bit sluggish or taking on too much at once.
@AstronomySkies
It's good to learn these things, Insightful as a trait is a lovely one! :D
@AstronomySkies
You sound like a very kind and caring person with your traits. I am glad you are here with us!
@AstronomySkies
Hey cool.
We all share the same personality.
@AstronomySkies
I recieved the same results as you! It is very true that us, as INFJ-T's, burn out easily, so it is very important to take some time every once in a while to focus on ourseleves and recharge. Those three strengths you listed are so very important and positive. I'm glad you are able to pick out those strengths!
@AstronomySkies
We have similar personality
@AstronomySkies
We have the same personality.
I love how you described yourself💖
@AstronomySkies
Love the organizing, and it's great to know you wanted to work on not "burning out", it's beneficial for your happiness and health to take care of yourself :))

@GlenM
1. What is your personality type? Include your 4 letters please
My Personality was the Advocate (INFJ-A /INFJ-T)
2. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I learned that my personality makes up less than 1% of the population. That people with this personality tend to see helping others as their purpose in life. I also learned that we have a talent for warm, sensitive language, speaking in human terms, rather than with pure logic and fact. I was reminded that I need to keep taking care of myself while quote: " they're busy taking care of the world". I believe this also confirms what I always thought of myself as, as someone who wants to help others as my purpose in life.
3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.
According to the test my top 3 strengths are 1. Creativity 2. Insightfulness 3. Inspiring and convincing
1. With my strong sense of compassion in combination with a vivid imagination, I use my creativity to resolve not technical challenges, but human ones. Finding the perfect solution for someone I care about, makes me an excellent counselor or advisor.
2. As an advocate I see through dishonesty and disingenuos motives, we step past manipulation and sales tactics and into a more honest discussion. We see how people and events are connected, and as a result is able to use that insight to get to the heart of the matter.
3. As an advocate I speak in human terms, and not technical. We have a fluid, inspirational writing style that appeals to the inner idealist in our audience. We can even be astonishingly good orators, speaking with warmth and passion. Which is especially true if we are proud of what we are speaking for.
Nothing lights up Advocates like creating a solution that changes peoples lives.
@Aleks2 Love your honesty and being Real !!! you are so awesome
@Aleks2
"Nothing lights up Advocates like creating a solution that changes peoples lives." yo
@Aleks2 great to see how despite a rare personality type, people like us can still connect at Cups - I have been surprised at this fact but it is always a great thing to observe.
@Aleks2 Loved your post! I'm an INFJ-A Personality Type too
@Aleks2
Wow, those are really amazing strengths!
@Aleks2
Inspiring and Convincing is an intresting one!
the statement at the end was beautifully said :)
@Aleks2
It is nice to see another INFJ-T, espeically since it is such a rare personality type! All of those things you were able to learn about yourself are so important, it is always good to keep that in mind when you begin to feel like you are struggling. Keeping your strengths in mind will also help with that because they are what you are naturally good at.
@Aleks2
I'm so inspired by how you can discover more about yourself after taking the test!!
@Aleks2
Great Post, as always, Aleks. Thanks for all your great work at 7 Cups
Oh.. a twin advocate, but sadly not available anymore :\
High five for being an awesome person!
wow!! I didn't know INFJ-T is that rare, that's so cool!!
1. What is your personality type? Include your 4 letters please
My personality type is INFP-T! (Turbulent Mediator)
2. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I've learned that I'm an idealist at heart: someone who truly looks for the good in the world around them and seeks to improve things. I also learned that my commitment to my principles and idealism guide me in my decisions and enable me to communicate deeply with others. The test results also reminded me of how I need to focus my energy into a few number projects, or else I'll likely burn out trying to change the whole world at once.
3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.
Idealistic: I am inherently optimistic, and seek to find the good in those around me!
Passionate and Energetic: I pour my soul out and put my energy into projects that I strongly believe in!
Open-Minded and Flexible: I'm always open to new ideas and perspectives, and willing to work around other people!
Ivy 🐑
@IvyL LOVE your strengths !!! you are also so awesome !!
@Tyedyedbutterfly65
Aww thank you! You are awesome as well! ♥
Ivy 🐑
@IvyL You are most welcome and Thank yoo so much for your kind words
@IvyL
The INFP is an amazing personality. Reading how the idealistic and altruistic values of the Mediator enables you to overcome potential obstacles and hindrances of doubt for the goodness in others. This inherent optimism enables you to support others to see the goodness in themselves where they can't. 😊 I believe that is an extremely valuable trait.
@Aleks2
I totally agree! ♥
Ivy 🐑
@IvyL Even thought we don't share the same type of personality, I can feel connected to you. :)
@relaxSea
That's awesome! ♥
Ivy 🐑

@Tyedyedbutterfly65
I’m glad you already knew your personality and accept it! Keep up the positivity!
@GlenM
My personality type is: INTP.
One thing I learned about myself is that I can actually be creative, but may have not identified the small moments this has been shown. On the other hand, (and this is something I never even considered) in relationship fights I may try to find more of a logical solution rather than think about meeting my partner's needs. Another thing is the love for patterns. I am always trying to find them, and make connections; but never stepped back, and thought about how I could apply this to a potential professional career.
My top 3 strengths are: being objective, honest and straightforward, and open-minded. In being objective, I don't focus on the emotional aspect of things, rather of the facts and the truth around it. I try to use information available, no things such as feelings or thoughts without a firm base. As honest and straightforward, I provide information in a manner where it may be considered as 'blunt' or 'unfiltered' which may, at times, be taken the wrong way. Finally, as open-minded I am always excited, and available about learning new things even if it's something I don't truly specialize about. I don't close my mind to one single idea in my head; I rather enjoy reading, and listening to different types of views over a variety of topics.
1. What is your personality type? Include your 4 letters please
INFJ
2. What were the main things you learned about yourself?
I can often be found engaging in rescue efforts and doing charity work and my real passion is to get to the heart of the issue
3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.
Creativity, insightful, Altruistic
