Hello Leadership Crew!

I am having a blast with you all. This leadership program is a lot of fun and Im glad we are doing it. I think itll help across many fronts. Shout out to @aleks2 and @quietmagic for their help looking at the first batch of results on our leadership composition. ÃÂ

Here is a summary:

zIJtYFhsT176H3HLbLj6r3sKUo-Ru8swR4o1QUYkGs94i_8U719UfL1Z2MZoZlqsrAGJJTDxvuwFaV0BMwAMvBtABkLhUNYh2UWdI5yMoD4AC5zfx1fzNJhBspbOrQlLUIS90VeF

Here is a summary from @quietmagic on what our collective - all of us together - strengths and weaknesses might be:

Leadership Crew Strengths:

Altruism/motivation: Having a deep passion for helping people that drives all we do and creates a feeling of purpose and meaning

Idealism: Having inspiring dreams and visions of just how unbelievably powerful and beneficial this site can be: imagining all of the good we might be able to create, all of the suffering we might be able to help heal

Kindness: Being able to create a kind, cooperative, culture that is gentle and considerate with people's feelings

Compassion: Being able to understand, connect with, and feel an urgency to resolve the needs, concerns, or problems of the people that we serve

Relationship: Feeling a yearning for deep, meaningful connections with others, creating a community where people are able to be authentic and feel a sense of belongingness

Leadership Crew Weaknesses

Practical implementation: Developing and optimizing systems, managing the fine details for concretely achieving our broad goals

Risk-taking: Being willing to take risks or make drastic changes to existing systems/practices where needed

The above analysis feels/seems right to me. This new leadership program in fact can be seen as one way that we are attempting to address a growth area by optimizing our leadership systems! And, zooming back, if there was going to be a team of people that was going to try to pull off the impossible (a free emotional support system), then I think itd be with the leadership composition described above under strengths. Itll take a lot of optimism and kindness to make this a reality!

Okay, lets transition to the next exercise and discussion.

Begin by taking the Big 5 test and answering the following questions. You can also read more on the Big 5 here ÃÂ and below.

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

2. My strengths are a) Open-mindedness,

b) Conscientousness,

c) Extraversion.

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

This also allows me to be a great problem solver focussing on positive outcome with the help of original and creative ideas. Conscientousnesss makes me reliable by completing all my tasks within the time-frame allocated. Being relatively extraverted makes me connect with friends and family more easily, so that we can enjoy each other's company.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

4. Being open minded in a professional environment allows me to be a great problem solver focusing on a positive outcome with original and creative ideas. It makes me think out of the box with for more strategic solutions to a problem. As a conscientousness worker, I would be persistant and meticulous with my work. Attention to details at a workplace would create less mistakes and make it more organized. Being relatively extraverted would make me a good team-worker at 7 cups and in my career, a lot of projects involve joint effort and to be able to get along with the people at work would make it less conflictual.

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

That I'm pretty conscious, introverted, and calm/relaxed.

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

I'm conscious and can be close-minded at times, calm/relaxed, and tend to be a little critical.

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

I'm more conscious about my strengths and weaknesses now, so I can be more mindful before responding to someone. I would consider re-thinking about my choices several times before carrying them out.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

I value honestly and that would help me give the best guidance to those who need it. Hopefully others would find me reliable, that would make it easier for me to carry out my role effectively.

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

I am honestly not sure my test is super accurate, but I did learn that I am somewhat conventional - probably because i don't have many artistic talents, so that knocked down my creativity score. I am not sure I learned a lot as I knew this from before, but I am introverted and good natured.

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

I am in the 86% for Agreeableness, 3 for Conscientiousness, and right in the middle for negative emotionality.

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

I think that being an agreeable and conscientious person will help me further relationships and create more bonds.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

Being an agreeable person helps me form bonds and partnerships with others where we can all cheer each other on.

@GlenM

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

I found that the test result was quite accurate when I correlated it with my self-image. I also realized that I'm a well-organized, self-disciplined, and reliable person.

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

My top three strengths are Open-mindedness, Introversion and Conscientiousness :)

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

The strengths can help me maintain my interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships. They also help me stay organized and clear about my personal goals, thereby helping me work on myself continuously.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

These strengths can also help me excel at a leadership role on 7 Cups. Being an introvert, I can observe the unsaid and use my listening abilities to better help both listeners and members in different aspects. Being open-minded, original, curious, and creative would help me in both efficiently carrying out my leadership responsibilities and finding new ways of improving this wonderful platform. Being a conscientious person by nature, my reliability and discipline would help maintain punctuality and trust in my leadership roles/relationships with others.

I can use my strengths to continue to help others! I think my extraversion has helped a lot with my ability to communicate to my peers and other people easily.

@GlenM

My Results:

Open-mindness: 48th percentile (I do not seek out new experiences)

Conscientiousness: 63rd percentile (I am well-organized and reliable)

Extraversion: 9th percentile (I enjoy spending quiet time alone)

Agreeableness: 69th percentile (I tend to consider feelings of others)

Negative Emotionality: 57th percentile (I am not particularly nervous or calm)

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

hmm, generally, I am not too surprised by the results, and most of the questions I responded too, I mainly never put strongly agree or disagree because I'm kind of in the middle on certain topics, which kind of shows in the results ahaha. I really like how they classified me as not particularly nervous or calm because that really fits me, and I think this portion really made me think about how I actually don't feel so nervous or calm right now, just always kind of in between. I am quite surprise that I only scored in the 69th percentile for agreeableness, but it might also be because i didn't put any strongly agree or disagree. The extraversion section could not explain me better for sure. I also learned that the open-minded section doesn't necessarily mean about other possible situations, but more so about myself, and I do agree that I do not seek out more opportunities (I have to say though that I always like exploring, I just mostly don't end up doing it).

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

In it's own ways, all of open-mindness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and negative emotionality are all strengths and weaknesses in its own ways. On one hand, not seeking out new experiences may decrease risks and dangers. On the other hand, not seeking out new experiences may limit choices and perhaps even possible opportunities for happiness. Similarly, being organized and reliable means that things get done faster and people may trust me easily, but at the same time, this also means that we may seek for someone who is reliable to trust yet it never matches our expectations. The same goes with extraversion, agreeableness, and negative emotionality as well!

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

One of the main (I wouldn't say strength exactly more of) characteristics is being introverted and supportive. By being aware of this, I suppose I will be trying to go more out of my bubble in my personal life to see if I can find more opportunities instead of keeping mainly to myself. Knowing that I am more of a supportive person definitely makes me want to go more towards a career that helps others.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

Ooh, ahaha, I just mentioned career and this also popped up (I do believe my personal life is basically my career though). As one of my strengths from both tests emphasized how I love taking note of others opinons and am quite open-minded about that, I think one of the main things I would focus in a leadership role on 7 Cups would be to open up more discussions within the team to get some new ideas and feedback in general. I think I would really like to address my weakness of not seeking other opportunities by expanding my reach and exploring more that may perhaps interest me!

@GlenM

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

That I'm probably more disorganized than I've previously thought. Some good news in the Agreeable and Open-mindedness areas.

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

Calmness, Open-mindedness and Agreeableness

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

I have to explore that. Surely have helped me to surviva and navigate through life, but also made me vulnerable.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

Well I have to work better on my weaknesses but it's good to know that I am fine understanding and connecting with people.

MagicSky28202 August 13th, 2020

@GlenM

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

I scored:

Open-mindedness: 92%

Conscientiousness: 12%

Extraversion: 34%

Agreeableness: 10%

Negative emotionally: 91%

I am surprised to learn that I might not be as organised as I thought I was. While I do enjoy tidying and categorizing things once in a while, it seems that upon reflection, I don't make a habit out of organising, and I prefer to have things a little bit messier.

I also found out that I am critical and somewhat rude. While this trait is indeed rather undesirable, I think that it shows my straightforward behavior in voicing opinions. Also, I think being a little critical of some people allows me to be critical of myself. This will help me identify my own weakness and what to improve.

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

I am open-minded. This means that I welcome new ideas, new experiences, and am curious to explore more about other people's perspectives.

I am introverted. While I sometimes find it hard to be socially active, I often enjoy contemplating deep ideas and spending my time alone. This allows me to be more perceptive in social situations also.

I often worry about things. While I do overthink about minor issues sometimes, I think that my tendency to worry has kept me alert to dangerous or negative situations. I think that in a way, my strength is that I am careful and wary of certain situations.

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

I think that I can combine my open-mindedness and my introversion. I enjoy observing and ruminating new ideas or innovations. I believe that with my open mind, I am able to gain more understanding of different ideas or perspectives during my alone time. This will help me understand people I have personal relationships with and gain insight on issues.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

My open-mindedness allows me to listen to other people's ideas. Being a leader does not mean always taking an authoritative charge, but also letting members of the group voice their opinions and ideas, however different. As a leader, I ensure that everyone is heard and that they play a role in reaching the goal.

Also, my liking to observation will help me figure out the best methods to help the group achieve the goal. My wariness of risk helps to choose the best option for the group.

In general, although the test says I am somewhat critical, I believe I am essentially a caring and understanding person. I hope that it will help ease interactions with others and help me become a good leader.
