Welcome back, crew! We've discussed leading yourself and others. Let's talk about leading ÃÂ within the community!
A car is a ÃÂ system that has different levels of components. Each component is a system in itself like engine, accelerator, gears, clutch, tires, seats, front deck, mirrors, and so on. Each of these components is also a system too. But when they are integrated into one big system, it comprises the bigger picture as a car which facilitates movement from one place to another. ÃÂ
Similarly, 7Cups is a system. A system of small systems that have their own defined set of goals but contributing towards a bigger goal (community goal).
When you are a lead of a project, you are not just leading your own project but also within the community as well. Examples: Verified Listener Program, Active Listening Tests, Listener Coaching, Quality Mentor, Listener Support Chat Rooms, and so on are individual projects that contribute to supporting a user to become a better listener to support the member they listen to and the community at large. Everyone is functioning as an integral part of the system. ÃÂ
To ensure the smooth operation of your system and the whole system, you need to collaborate with other community and project leaders to problem solve and be well synced. ÃÂ
Everything is interlinked and interconnected. You are part of the community and leading within the community. And, when everyone collectively gathers together to achieve one purpose, we are cultivating a sense of community solidarity.
Exercise:
1. ÃÂ Give an example of how you are part of this community and how are you contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community. ÃÂ
2. Please reply to 3 of your peers in the thread!
After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please proceed to the end of Course 4!ÃÂ
This post is brought to you by the Leadership Development Program Team, find out more information about the program here.
1. Give an example of how you are part of this community and how are you contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community.
I am part as a listener, Intern mentor, Mentor Leader/ Forum Mentor (Internship)
As an individual I guide interns and support peers.
As a team I work within my community (Internship) and ensure i support my team members and contribute as much as i can.
As a community as a whole i intigate my roles and work towards making this a better place taking things one day at a time
@Magicallykermit58 Wonderful ways to support others!
Give an example of how you are part of this community.
The main way I am part of the community is as a listener; no matter what roles we end up getting, it really all comes back down to being a listener, emphasizing the phrase "we are where we were from/started." If the question means to address different commitments/projects I am part of in this community, (side note: I'm not very into listing my roles out because it is kind of weird, but here they are) those would be: chatroom moderator, group support PA, verifiers team PA, teen star in the quality/forum/community tracks, AL 3 grading team, listener learning team, peer support, chat support.
How are you contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community.
Individual: Being a listener! The best way I contribute as an individual is as a listener in our 7 cups community through active listening, and through wonderful listening conversations in the listener chatroom as well. Having this opportunity to sign up as a listener and contributing my just listening is something that I hold very dear, and I would say one of the best things that happened to me.
Team: I am more involved in teams to improve quality, and it is something that I feel strongly about. Most importantly, quality really stems back to being a listener and being able to provide the best listening support! As I mentioned before, to me, it is important to remember where I came from as a listener, and to always keep in mind that the basis here on 7 cups is about active listening while there are some other wonderful projects as well! I am contributing as a team member of the AL 3 grading team and the verifiers team in specific.
Within the community: I work with some really wonderful people in the Teen Only Zone to host monthly events and organize the forums in the Teen Only Zone subcommunity. Our main aim really is just to encourage and increase engagement within the community, and really to also support everyone in the forums not just on 1-1 private messages (:

"The main way I am part of the community is as a listener; no matter what roles we end up getting, it really all comes back down to being a listener" ➤ I love this part 💙 And I feel being a listener is the hardest task here as it is a contribution we do that directly and instantly felt by one in need of ears/ eyes and heart to listen.
Best of luck on your roles 🍀
@DayDreamWithYou
yay!
An example of me being part of the community is the part of me hanging out in the listener room and being there talk to people to give it a sense of community and for an open place to talk about their issues there. As an individual, it's me being relaxed so it feels more open to people. The team part is the peer support team and chat mentor mood in the room. In the overall community, it's me being casual and reaching people to make sure that they feel heard with things going on.
I am a part of this community because I contribute to an overarching goal.
I take chats and use my best listening skills.
I work with other room supporters and listeners to provide a safe space.
I maintain safety inside the community by contributing on the Safety Patrol Team.
@SophieWX All great ways to contribute here!

1. Give an example of how you are part of this community and how are you contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community.
When I am in the TL room and I see a listener enter I make sure to welcome them and encourage them to join in with the conversation. If I see that they are new to 7cups I welcome them and tend to send a PM to introduce myself and get to know them, I feel this is important because when I first started 7cups I was a little nervous but luckily I met a listener in TL and we spoke about coming to 7cups and our pets! It really helped me feel welcomed in the community so I make an effort to do that when I see new people in our community.
@bookworm274
Sorry, I slightly misunderstood!
In addition to what I wrote above here is the rest of my answer:
As an individual I am contributing by being a listener and using my active listening skills to listen to members.
As a team, I am contributing as I am part of various teams such as Forum PA, where I discuss tasks with the rest of the team.
As a community, I am contributing as I am part of various community focused teams such as Forum Supporter for the anxiety community where I make and reply to posts to ensure that all members feel heard and have a safe environment to talk or play games and icebreakers!
@Heather225
I provide support to fellow listeners after a hard chat. As an individual, I support members. As a team, I am helping my teammates, making the team more better and achieve the set goal. Within the community, I usually give contributions in terms of view to help others caring about, helping and supporting the community whenever I can, providing emotional support and contribute to the bigger system.
Give an example of how you are part of this community and how are you contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community.
As an individual, I support others in the group chats and forums. As a team, we look out for one another, plan events for the SC, get content put out, etc. Within the community I add in topics that one can find here, give suggestions for inproving 7 Cups and bring to attention things that are not working. All of those aspects are how I am a part of the community plus I get support here too.
1. Give an example of how you are part of this community and how are you contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community.
~ As a verified active listener I provide individual listening support to members. As a LDP student of September cohort I guess I'm in a way working on a team to contribute as a leader soon. As a Safety Patrol leader, I think I contribute within the community by ensuring safety of the community, by removing or improving unwanted or potentially harmful profiles.

I help both Listeners and member with anything they need, I work with others to ensure quality support for both Listeners and members and I help contribute to the growth and encouragement of the community

Every time I log in, I play a different role. Some days, I am a good listener, on other days, I work on the needs reply posts, translation, my LDP course. Let's take LDP as an example, as an individual, I learn more and inspire others to do the same, by replying to others, we encourage each other as a team and we all move forward as a community with this program.
