The first 3 conversations helped us set the foundation for this discussion. The idea that the problem is the path or the obstacle is the way comes from the Stoics. If interested, I also recommend this book as a good overview of stoic thinking. I think there is a tremendous amount of wisdom in these ancient ideas. I'm glad to see much of it resurfacing now. ÃÃÂ
This disucssion is the most important discussion in this course. This is the core insight to learn for your own personal and professional development as well as the key insight that will continue to help us grow and evolve at 7 Cups. Please really take your time to think through these ideas. They matter and they are meaningful. These ideas can help change the trajectory of your life.

Three key points from Chapter 4 that stood out to me were the following: (1) problems teach you to ask for help, (2) problems break you out of distraction systems because they refuse to leave you alone, and (3) problems help you level up and grow.
The three disciplines are perception, action and will. Perception refers to the perceiving and acknowledging of something—”it is what it is.” Action refers to the desire to respond to the problem with creativity and ingenuity. Will refers to building inner fortitude and strength by recognizing that there are things that are bigger than us or beyond our control somehow.

That's so true: Problems refuse to leave us alone. I guess that's the best argument, why we need to face them.

Problems break down denial, problems teach you to ask for help and this starts the path to humility which i love, and problems teach you to open up and care about things, people and certain situations.

Stoicism, recipe for greatness, optimism its how you turn what's in the way on the way
1) perception, deciding to see it as horrible or unfair…if you tell your self you can turn that around
2)discipline of action … respond with creativity and persistence using what you have to the best of your ability
3) discipline of will, we don't control everything. We might not be prepared for it either, and building our strength and understanding that its going to happen and have faith and giving acceptance to it,

I like how you made the connection between asking for help and adding to humility and caring for each other. Those are really things that go hand in hand.

Point 1: Problem-solving does help me as well. I mean, this is kind of obvious, but regarding the biggest challenge, that I'm facing currently, my reason to go on has always been other people. Reading this chapter, I realized, that I should probably make it more about myself.
Point 2: By working through my problems and breaking down denial, I can learn more about myself and the hidden parts of me. Maybe I'll find something in the shadow that I should actually put into the light.
Point 3: Trying to ignore problems and distracting myself from them might be much more exhausting than facing them. Also, from ignoring them, I'll definitely not get a reward, by facing them, I at least have a chance of getting something positive out of the situation.

Perception: While you can't decide what obstacles you face, you can influence how you see them. You can see them as a threat, a burden, a punishment, or you can see them as what they are. Simply an obstacle that you may be able to overcome and learn from.
Action: When you are faced with an obstacle, rather than mourning its presence, you can focus on what you can do about it. You can use your creativity to find a way around it.
Will: There are things and obstacles in life that we can't influence or overcome. To really become resilient and strong, we need to learn to accept or even enjoy the things that we simply can't change.

Problems divert our attention - we can decrease our denial through this as we become aware. They move us away from distraction.
Problems are valuable lessons - and these lessons stay with us, help us to grow, we can use the same concept we have used to solve one problem to solve, or avoid, another.
Problems help us to reach out for help - problems teach us that asking for help isn't a bad thing.
Perception - what glasses we view the world through. Can influence our attitude and behaviours towards something.
Action - our actions/reactions can have effects down the line that may be good/bad/neutral. Some actions we cannot control but we can control out reactions to them
Will - accepting and letting go of things we can't control, and managing and acting on what we can.

The 3 points on my list would be:
1. Face the Problem- As per SC words “As long as your inside the problem, you cannot understand or solve the problem. Therefore come out of it”. This is the simple principle I try to follow. Never run away from problems, as it comes chasing you. Face it, conquer it and that’s the end. Get ready for the next problem. It’s all an experience facing problems.
2. To solve problem, need help- We may need support/guidance to solve some problems. We alone may not be able to solve certain things. Therefore, problems allow us to be humble, subtle and ask for help.
3. Problems teach to open up and care from heart- The line from the book, really very truthful- “Who suffered a lot alone tend to help others”. This is why mainly I am into 7cups. I understand how it feels if no one around you to help or console you when your really in need.

3 components were:
a. Perception- This is about how we see the situation. Anything comes after this perception, as we act according to how we see the situation.
b. Action- Once you see and understand the situation , then it’s all about how you going to act on this problem. We need to respond it. This to be done with creativity, persistence etc.
c. Will- It’s all about inner fortitude. In simple words ‘if there is a will, surely there will be a way”
1. -Denial and distraction develops in childhood and these early patterns teaches us to avoid threatening thoughts.
-The only way to break free is to face your problems and truly care for other people.
-Problems have disguised value.
2 -our actions may be impeded but our intentions, or dispositions cannot be impeded because we can accommodate and adapt.
-we don't control what happens to us. We do control how we respond.
-perception, action, and will are important to deal with problems.

2. Action: Actions we make have consequences.
3. Will: Worry about things you can change, not on what you can't change.

We need to deal with our problems, asking for help can be vulnerable but that's alright, and learning how to deal with them ultimately help us grow.

Perspective is really important, our worldview affects much else.
There are always things we can control, our actions matter.
It's necessary to let go of what we can't change.

1) Here are 3 points from chapter 4 that stood out to me:
- “Problems have disguised value” stood out to me because it is true. By facing a problem we learn valuable skills that we can enhance and develop throughout our lifetime.
- “Problems break down denial” stood out to me due to it being realistic. When a problem begins to become too much it forces us to face our problem and stops us from being in denial any more. Problems force action.
- “Problems teach you to ask for help” was the one that stood out to me the most as if we had no problems there would be no need to ask for help. Problems show us that we need to ask for help. Asking for help is not a weakness and for some problems, we need extra support.
2) The 3 key components explained in the video:
- Perception- this is how you decide to see a problem. If you want to think something is negative, then that is also how you are going to feel and that is what you will allow yourself to think. On the other hand, if you see a situation in a positive light (even though it may be a negative experience) we can still have hope. An example of this could be: I failed a test. One perception could be I am a terrible person which will make you feel low self-worth. Another person may fail a test and think ‘that’s okay I now know what to improve on’ and think ‘the only way is up’ this person is seeing the experience as a way to improve.
- Action- this is what you do after you have perceived something. A person who felt negative may decide to do nothing and instead live in denial. However, the person who saw failure as an opportunity may begin to work harder and spend more time practising.
- Will- What we do about things we have no control over. It is about worrying about things we cannot control. It is about understanding we may not have control over everything and accepting this.
