SNOW CREAM! My mother and grandmother made that too- they used the packages ice cream mix so it could be different flavors - vanilla or chocolate. Wow- that is quite a mattress delivery story. Quality bedding is so expensive. My sister that has meniere's from an old neck injury sleeps with a water pillow that keeps her neck straight and supported - 40 lbs. AW- so sorry about the chicken(s). I grew up with chickens at my grandparent's farm on N.C. , but no goats. They seem like fun to have around.

Thank you so much for the colorful good vibes- Made me smile! I'm doing OK with the food I brought and the hospital sent up bbq wings and tasteless brocolli- they just pulled the stalks out of the freezer bag and put it on the plate and powered potatoes - o well. I have good soup and salad and I'm satisfied for the most part. Stay warm and cozy. I should get out of here tomorrow.

Argh! My son made sugar cookies today and I ate about 10 of them. I just don't have the willpower to resist fresh from the oven cookies even though I have felt gross and stuffed for 2 hours now. I was doing so well. On my exercise/wellness checklist in the kitchen I'm doing a weekly weigh-in on Mondays. I was looking forward to recording a lower weight. It won't be as good now. (I have a daily weigh-in sheet in my bedroom so it doesn't really matter, but the kitchen one was sort of my official new year's goals sheet.) On the plus side, this morning I found a 25-minute gentle yoga video online that I liked, and followed that up with one round of the interval cardio video that I do sometimes (6 minutes per round). So, I did meet my entire checklist this week. Next time I screw up my diet, I'll at least have to make sure it's not the night before my "official" weekly weigh-in.

I hope you got back home!

My eating was back on track yesterday and I exercised but had a little setback in the afternoon. We had a fender bender (my husband's fault but unavoidable) and now my neck is more sore than usual. I have herniated discs and it hurts all the time anyway and I don't think it's much worse but I can feel it. Going to my physical therapist this morning. I see her once a month for maintenance but she had a chance to squeeze me in.

We had been shopping and ironically were going to take the car to the shop on our way home, and trade it out with my car which just had brakes repaired, because this one also has something wrong with it, alternator maybe. Now we have to wait on an estimate for the bodywork from a different shop, which is coming out of pocked because we can't afford collison insurance. Our truck needs work too, so our vehicle fleet is in bad shape. We had our credit cards all paid off but now we are going back into debt.

Not a good week so far! I hope yours is going better than mine!

O my goodness, Sadme, now you are even sadder I'm sure. That is why I refuse to drive in bad weather- there were 750 accidents in RVA- and the roads are just slick. I am sad with you, sometime you just are and you just have to hold on. My fiance has 4 wheel drive pickup and he got me home,, but it was just snow then- now he tells me it is worse since it is just packed ice.

I will say a prayer for you to feel better with your neck and everything else. Keep up with your goals the best u can, but don't be hard on yourself during this tough time. We went to see SING Sunday evening and it is a funny movie with good music. I want to see Hidden Figures and LaLaLand- my daughter says that movie is fantastic. I don't go to a lot of movies, only if it is something funny or true history.

I am back to pre-holiday weight, and I'm going to keep my list handy; that seems to help me a lot.. and your support. You have my best VIBES right now for things to get better real soon.

We were supposed to pick up some accessories for my new bed on Saturday but stayed in because of the weather, then went out in good weather on Monday and wrecked on a clear dry road. MIght as well have gone out in the storm! I think going to my physical therapist on Tuesday was a good idea. I don't feel much of the new neck pain. Mostly back to my normal levels. I went to the Y this morning and just did cardio, and ate well today so I think I'm back on track. Thanks for your prayers and encouragement!

I don't know any of the movies you mentioned. I am out of touch! So glad you had a good time at Sing! I mostly only go the movies with my sons, so it's a lot of superheros and junk like that. I love being out with them, but I could use a good chick flick outing!

Way to go on losing all your holiday weight!! I am a big fan of lists! Mine is on my kitchen cabinet and it's the only reason I've remembered to do my PT stuff.

@SadMe7

I know what you mean about the accident- stuff happens at random and often you just don't know. But I am glad you don't feel too many effects from being bumoed- its usually just the hassle of paperwork and phone calls. I didn't lose a LOT of weight from getting past the Holidays- a couple of lbs. However, for me being short and I guess for you too, 2 lbs. makes a difference. I do feel a little better though since at first I didn't see any difference on the scale. I am staying pretty much on with goals and especially the filling shakes. Quick, somewhat sweet- all my fiber and protein- and filling.

I haven't heard about school tomorrow but I'm sure it will be on, snow is gone Thank God. I'm working at the hospital tonight 11-7 extra but even if I have to teach preschool it's just a couple of hours and I can sleep after that.

I'm glad to see that you are keeping your chin up with the setbacks. Movies- the Hidden Figures one is a true story about African American women who were key mathmatecians with the John Glenn launch- and their struggle with discrimination- I'm looking forward to that one. Take care of your spine and I'll ck. in later.

Ok this is silly but I am really excited about something. We were just talking about movies, and this morning on facebook I saw an ad that Singin' in the Rain is playing in some theaters on Sunday. Turns out one theater in Fredericksburg is playing it. We need to bring my son back to VCU that day, but I decided I'm going to that movie at 2 and we will just have to take him afterwards! A friend said she would go with me and I bought tickets online to be sure. I love that movie and it will be so cool to see it on the big screen!

I know what you mean about being short. Just a couple of pounds and there's 2 more inches on my belly and my work slacks won't fit.

I ate well again today and went to the Y. I also saw an ad there for a lady who is a yoga instructor but is working on becoming a massage therapist so she's doing massages at the Y at student rates - $40/hr. I signed up for one on 1/20. Can't wait!!

I'm so glad your shakes are working! Seems like a good quick way to get a lot of nutrition!

MusicCandy January 13th, 2017

Sadme- that movie is NOT silly. I am a ballroom dancer - that's why I loved Zumba when I first started it- and that movie is so full of Fred n-Ginger beautiful magical music and movement. Enjoy-I'm jealous! Good for you eating well and exercising. Now- since you have been doing well don't get any of that terrible theatre popcorn ( I didn't when I went on Sunday) . I got some sleep today( never enough when you work nights) and then took Ra to the pool and that was a nice relax time for me too. Yea for you getting a massage at a bargain too. My other daughter got certified in MT before she went to VCU and she was good at it , and then she broke her elbow falling on ice, and it was never quite right after that. But she loves her job now ( recruiter for Bon Secours) so it all turned out OK.

I hope you have a fun Friday - I'll ck in later , in betwqeen naps!

SadMe70 OP January 15th, 2017

Singin' in the Rain tomorrow at 2! I will probably eat some candy but will try not to eat too much. When I get back we are taking our son back to VCU.

Exercise was not as much as I wanted this week, but I did at least something every day except Tuesday. My eating was good most days. Tonight was a new dish called "broccoli and turmeric yellow rice bowls," from the recipes desk calendar my sister gave me. It was pretty good. Have some leftovers for tomorrow, in case I don't get a chance to make "tomato artichoke lentil stew" from the calendar! :)

How is your weekend going? You are almost done your 14 days! Did you decide what you want to do after that?

MusicCandy January 15th, 2017

Good for you keeping up with good for you recipes and some exercise. I No Where Near kept up with my index card goals for 14 days - maybe a week and then Life happened -- the snow, messed up work scedules, sleep eratic. I sort of knew what I should be doing, but not to the point of actually doing most of it most days. Yesterday - I ate pizza at work and ..cookies. That is why we can't lose weight, according to David Letterman, too many cookies everywhere.

I am getting back on track though. I will try it week by week and see how it goes. The eating plan is flexible enough that I don't feel deprived even when I stick to it relogiously, and the other goals I just have to check off, but they aren't hard either. Today I had bean and tomato vegetable soup with quinoa and wild rice and peppers- Delish and warm. I did my stair climbing exercise and getting ready to do a meditation, even though I'm at work. I always have some down time. I hope yoi have a lovely time at the theatre and a safe trip into RVA. You will be right down the street from me(at Retreat H.) when you get into town.

SadMe70 OP January 17th, 2017

The snow messes up schedules for sure! Cookies were my downfall two weekends ago also. You have been doing great overall though - got down to your preholiday weight! Your soup sounds good. I made a dish on Friday and have been eating the leftovers. I did no other cooking all weekend despite having an extra day and a couple of recipes in mind, so I'm unprepared for this week mealwise. I will not have time to cook tonight either, but hopefully tomorrow I can put something together to last a few days.

I got to the Y yesterday and did some cardio at home over the weekend but will be missing yoga again tonight. I should get to the Y tomorrow though. Have you been doing meditation long? I have done a little with guided relaxations from this site but have not done as much as I originally thought I would, and not really any meditation.

I had a wonderful time at the movie! I enjoyed that more than any movie I've seen in the theater in a long time. We dropped off my son on Sunday night. I miss him already. I looked up Retreat and I see that we were super close!

Good luck this week! You can do it!!
