@MusicCandy @SadMe70 A place to communicate
@MusicCandy Hello! I have to get ready for work but will post more later!
Sounds like you have done great with your hard days so far! You can make it through these last 3!!
I have had no wine for the last 2 days because I am not feeling well. I think it is just the cold dry air. I had a sore throat and my nose felt like it had been sandpapered inside on Sat night. We got humidifiers going yesterday and my throat is improved but my head feels awful and I'm tired. Last year I took no sick days from work because the only time I got truly sick was over Christmas vacation, much of which I spent in bed! I might be ramping up for that! I am going to the pool this morning and am hoping the humidity in the pool area will feel good to my nasal passages!
My meals have all been good, but again the snacking was terrible. I had some leftover filling from the candymaking so I got more chocolate and made more candy but snacked liberally. This is what I made in case you are interested. Someone posted this last year on a cheesemaking facebok group I belong to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao1OLgqPW-s&feature=youtu.be
The world is lucky for nurses who will work on holidays! People are always saying "thank you for your service" to veterans but there should be something equivalent to say to people who are there to take care of us whenever we need it, Christmas or not. Thank you!
When I was little, my aunt would give our family tickets to the Nutcracker every year for Christmas. I love the show and the music! I have a double-CD set of the music that I play every holiday.
My husband made another recipe with his new spiralizer. Sweet potato "waffles" for breakfast yesterday - spiralized sweet potatoes, egg, blueberries, cinnamon. A little syrup on top when done. Supposed to be cooked in a waffle iron but we used a skillet. It was delicious!
I have a meal in the crockpot for tonight that I found in a slow-cooker thread on ths site! Moroccan chicken. First time trying it but it sounds pretty good! I didn't cook anything else because I felt too bad and I have several things in the crockpot. I am already looking forward to coming home, eating, and lying down for the rest of the night!
Have a great day!
Well dear heart, I have finally finished a very long and tiring and productive,, and satisfying day. I am drinking my second glass of wine and enjoying a Chopin nocturne. i listen to NPR nearly all the time.I got thru a crazy Christmas play rehearsal at preschool- they packed up my bells for school cleaning and i searched thru 20 boxes-- i just said "no you did-n't"!! found them and then the whole set up on stage was different too- but it's just preschool. ?It will be fine. Then packing lunches for threhomeless- that was fine too- 4 hrs; of God's work- kind of like what Christmas is all about anyay. Thrn dinner for Rachael and my fiance and getting her ready for bed... it is just like a toddler- i have to help her do everything though she is 33. /but so happy and sweet.
I hope you feel better soon. i do love my work at the hospital, sometimes it's just a warm blanket- but you have to be called to the profession to take that extra moment to do that simple thing. CT is very high tech, but can give life-saving information and that is great too. Thanks for the cheese site- i may get to that one day.
Have a happy Tuesday- I'll add you to my prayers tonight to feel better.
Hello my friend,
I got thru another very busy day, and I even got my hair cut so i'll be cute for the Christmas program with the preschoolers tomorrow
I will enjoy it and i will be very relieved and happy when it is over. 2 glasses of wine again, but it won't be for long. I took Rachael to chuck e cheese to play skee ball tonight- its her favorite- since she stayed with me at church and behaved quietly while I finished the lunches for the homeless.I hope you had a good day- school is almost over for break- hang in there. thinking of you that you will feel better.
Hello, I felt improved yesterday until the end of the day but not great by the end of the day, and pretty crappy this morning. I still think it is the cold dry air because I have been better with the humidifiers running than without, and my best day was the rainy day. I have been taking raw garlic anyway, which I do when I have a cold, just in case. There are certainly plenty of sneezing, coughing, running nosed children around for me to catch any number of thngs from!
I swam a few laps on Monday but not much energy, skipped yoga yesterday. Not sure if I will get to the Y this afternoon or not. Eating and drinking has not been too bad.
Your haircut sounds great! Good luck with the concert!!
I just got up a half hour ago but I can't wait to get back home and go back to bed!!
End of week 3 of holiday treats at school! I had one cookie today but I'm not worrying about that. I worked out Mon-Wed but not yesterday or today. Yesterday I had my monthly tuneup with my physical therapist so my neck is a little less sore today! I finally broke down and took nyquil last night so I slept pretty well. It was hard to get up this morning with that still in my system though!
Where is Rachael when you go to work? Do you have other children? I love skeeball! That's one of the few things I would still play if I went into an arcade these days.
My son is home from school! My husband picked him up today and they just got back about a half hour ago. He went out to the grocery store but we are going to watch videos together when he gets back.
Good for you with the school treats - now that is over! I can't even tell you what I have eaten the last 5 days - a blur of work and the church lunch packing, and regular life. I did some exercise, but not like usual. Today I went to the Relax spa that just opened near me. and did the vibratherapy machine. That is supposed to be more effective than a plain workout - we will see how my body feels tomorrow. Next week I am going therefor another one of those and a sound therapy abd a salt float. I'm excited to get some relax time.
Rachael goes to a day support center run by the county. I don't pay (thankGod) because she got the medicaid waiver. It is a lifesaver for her- and me. She loves the activities and her friends. Today she was kissing me goodby in the parking lot(COLD) since she knew she was going on the bus to their Christmas party. She likes to say "she go home" when they have something special - that is HER place!. Her sister is the VCU grad I mentioned awhile back. She is 27 and doing very well, great boyfriend and a new job as a recruiter at Bon Secours. So sweet, thoughtful, settled and happy - I'm grateful for that too - we went thru our rough spots.
Enjoy your time with your son, it is special when they start to leave the nest. Stay warm and I'll ck in later. I will get back on track next week.
I have 2 half days next week but I think I can get through them ok foodwise! My husband is going to get me a massage for Christmas. I picked out a place in Fredericksburg but haven't called yet. If I start feeling better I hope to do some (short local) hiking with my son while he's home.
I'm glad there are centers like that around. When I was growing up, my uncle had Down's and lived with family. After my grandparents died, he and my other uncle and one aunt all stayed in the family home and they took care of him, plus we lived nearby. We lived in a rural area and there were no centers or anyplace he could have gone so it was good that someone was always around. The other uncle ran a family business on the property so he was mostly home and my aunt was a teacher so she was around all summer.
I was going to come down there and get my son tomorrow but since the weather was iffy, my husband got him today on his way back from an appt at McGuire. I was kind of looking forward to the trip, but I'm so tired from this cold or whatever it is, that it will be nice to just sleep in and take it easy instead. Maybe I will even get in a little exercise!
I took nyquil last night and am just getting up at 10! It was nice not having to force myself up early today. My body prefers being upright with this drippy cold, so sleeping in is sort of a mixed bonus! I'm going to go have some tea. One of the teachers at school gave me a china teacup with holiday pattern on it. I've never had an actual teacup and I've been having fun drinking from it. It makes it a little more special than drinking from a mug!
I hope your weekend goes well! I will check in again later, and hopefully will be able to say that I did at least some exercise!
It is nice to get up when you feel like it , I know. I was at work last night and got a bout of nausea- I don't know if it's a virus or the leftover shrimp. Anyway, I took a zofran pill this morning and I feel a little better. but still just washed out. It was a hectic week , but I just feel achy too - and I'm back at work. Atr least it isn't too busy. I'll call in someone if it gets really busy, but so far I'm holding up and just resting in between patients. Just ate a few crackers and .. tea. I love tea cups too. Have you ever gone to the Jefferson Hotel afternoon tea? My sisters,me and my mom went when we all got together over Memorial day. It is really special..
Hope we both feel better soon , I'll ck in later.
I did not do any exercise, but I took a nap and had a lovely dinner with my husband and both my sons. My stomach has been fine. My problem is mostly nasal drip and feeling exhausted. I have not been to the Jefferson but I've looked at their website after it popped up in my facebook feed one day. I would love to go there someday! It looks so pretty!
