@MusicCandy @SadMe70 A place to communicate
@MusicCandy Hello! I have to get ready for work but will post more later!
Sorry to hear about your struggles with your mother. My husband went through something similar his whole life with his mother. She was never diagnosed but there was definitely something at least similar to NPD. Add in dementia over the last few years of her life, which took away her reasoning skills and magnified some very negative personality traits, and she was very unpleasant.
I am so glad to hear you are feelng better! I have never tried a detox. If you decide to try it, I am here for you! I can only get on this site early mornings and after work on weekdays, but we can work out another communication plan if you want/need to check in during the day.
I worked more on my plan for the new year today, not the diet part yet but the exercise and some other evening PT and stretching activities that I really need to do instead of watching TV every night. I have a plan and a daily/weekly checklist and I am feeling pretty excited about it. Yesterday was awful, as I ate junk nonstop for the entire day. I could not even stop myself. I am now 10 pounds up from my goal weight. I will try to be good this week, because this weekend is another cookiefest, this time at my parents' house in PA for our Christmas up there. I'm going to be there Wed to Sun, but mainly the weekend will be the bad parts. Today I did do a short but intense cardio workout (I'm really liking Holly Rilinger's videos on healthination.com).
We are headed out to run errands in a bit, then coming home to do some healthy cooking!
Good to hear about your holiday fun , it will be over soon. I exercised a little today and cleaned my kitchen - working so much OT meant it was sadly in need. But it looks great now and smells nice, My fiance went out for sushi and I had one heavenly roll. I only like one place- their rolls are all special, and the wasabi helped clear up my sinuses! So overall good day too. Movie in bed for me I hope. I am on call all night. I also can't get on here every day, but you are always a terrific support for me. I am trying to work up the motivation for 14 strict days/ Exercise alone does not ebeven touch my belly fat , so we'll see,
Have a good night.
Argh belly fat. That is where my goes immediately. I am short and just a couple of pounds gain make all my pants too tight. My work pants were already tight when vacation started and I'm up 2 more pounds so far.
My meals were very good yesterday and the cookie/candy intake was way down from the day before but still too high. It should taper even more today as there is less of it left now! :)
I just got up but am hoping to do some exercise before breakfast.
I'm also short - 61 inches, and with our situation, you can't eat as much period, but with the "bad" stuff, I will get bloated immediately.
Today has been OK - one day of sunshine so I took a walk before work- and housework. Ate a healthy lunch with a good friend and now I'm working 3-11. Tomorrow I'm taking my Mom to a seafood restaurant that is an old restored tavern, very rustic and they bring out a platter of different kinds of breads with the lobster bisque- all good. A few more days off for you - so enjoy!
I am 61 inches also! Maybe a few millimeters shorter with a couple of herniated discs in my neck!
My son and I came up to my parents' house in PA today for our holiday visit. My dad actually went into the hospital yesterday though, so we went to visit him this evening and will go back tomorrow. One of my sisters is coming tomorrow and the other on Saturday. We had a Saturday lunch and present exchange planned but maybe will do at the hosp.
I am so sorry your Dad had to go to the hospital while on a visit ; I hope everything will turn out OK. I did my last holiday thing with my Mom last night at the Inn. Dinner was OK, but the staff seemed rushed and food not quite up to par. Rachael was in a mood with her cycle, so I was just glad to get it over with. I am always on edge around my Mom- she wants everyone to think that everyting is rosy, but you cannot disagree with her on anything. I try to just let it go. Back to work, and honestly, I am still not eating right, and some exercise - just not my routine. Hope you are doing well.
Dad came home today! He had 1.5 liters of fluid drained from his chest cavity for the second time in a month Not sure of the origin. Some docs say congestive heart failure, others say no because his lungs are clear, so who knows. He is 90 and has plenty of other problems too. One of my sisters arrived today and the other comes tomorrow for our holiday lunch. I am going home Sunday. My diet has been awful and exercise non-existent. It will be just as bad all weekend but on Monday, I get down to business!
Did you decide about the diet program you were considering?
I hope you can get some rest before the back to school reality. I am on call tomorrow, monday, and it is considered the Holiday for ther hospital, but I know I'll get called in for CT probably several times. But the crazy part is the preschool is open, so I have to teach there , that is 2 hrs - class time plus set up,clean up. I thought they would take one more day off, but oh well.
Here's is my 14 day play, starting tomorrow. It is based on the Zero Belly Diet that I mentioned before, just because it is simple and foods that I like anyway. I created an index card to check off for the first 7 days with 8 things. 1. Warm lemon water first thing, 2. Shake/Shake 3. Apple snack( can add another fruit or veggie if I'm hungry) 4. Soup or salad meal 5. Workout 6. Rest/Meditate 7. No gluten and last but not least - 8. No wine. The last 2 will be the mpst challenging I think and I have extra wine from the holidays, but I'm going to put in the basement cabinet for the 14 days. There is a less strict plan for after that, but I'm going to do this first.
I have cleared out some things on my to do list and I am caught up on music lesson plans, so there shouldn't be any extra stress- which is the only way I can do this for sure. Let me know your plan and we will get 2017 off to a great start.
Hello, I came home yesterday and will start back to school tomorrow. I went to the Y this morning. Animal feeding, laundry, grocery store, and meal prep are on the schedule for the rest of the day! Good luck to you with both preschool and on-call today! I hope you don't get called in during preschool!
Good luck with your 14 day plan! I know you can do it! Two weeks seems like a good amount of time. Short enough to handle but long enough to do some good and get you into a good pattern.
I like checklists too. I have two for myself so far. One is exercise-based - MWF at the Y, Tues yoga, Thurs cardio at home using online workouts. Every other week I will have to do the Y on Thurs so I will swtich the home cardio to W. I want to actually check off that I've gone because I've really slacked off.
My other checklist is to make myself do some healthy things at night instead of watching TV and drinking wine. Once a week I will do each of these three things: 1) a PT "exercise" that uses wedges to keep my pelvis in line (it gets rotated and then my knee hurts more), 2) stretching, 3) foam roller. My body is so tight feeling all the time and I think these last 2 will help me. The PT thing is short and simple but I stopped doing it for months and my pelvis got all out of whack. The checklist will hopefully help me remember.
Food-wise I need to get my discipline back, stop eating so much junk, and go back to eating more the way I did when I lost so much weight a few years ago. It was not a specific diet, just more plant-based protein, more veggies, less sweets. No soda, no pasta, very little bread.
Happy New Year and good luck to us both!!
Was your Day 1 on Monday or Tuesday? How is it going so far?
I was such a good girl yesterday! I met with my trainer at the Y in the morning. We do a half hour of mostly weights. Everything I ate was healthy and I kept both sweets and wine in check (half a glass). My dinner was a totally yummy soup that I just made up as I went along. Sweet potatoes, red cabbage, red bell pepper, canned tomatoes (no salt or sugar in them), zucchini, and shrimp. I had it for lunch today, dinner yesterday and today, and will have for lunch tomorrow! Went to yoga tonight; my first time in 3 weeks.
