We opening CoVID-19 Support Room w.e.f March 22, 2020. The room will be dedicated to supporting anyone and everyone facing a tough time due to the CoVID-19 outbreak.

Some DOs and DON'Ts to keep in mind -
Dos:

  • Everyone is welcome to share their stories and experiences
  • Validating and respecting everyone's situation as a fellow user
  • Respecting general chat room rules

Don'ts:

  • Passive political and religious statements. Also no racial or discriminating comments
  • Sharing wrong statistics and information which is not valid
  • Advising others
  • Forcing others to follow any specific rule/guideline related to quarantine and precautions regarding CoVID-19 prevention
  • Blame

Also, all support sessions related to CoVID-19 will be hosted in the CoVID-19 Support room.

Well sort of but not really. Cases of the virus have been identified in a town that's super close to where I live and I also pass that town every morning on my way to school. So schools have been shut down statewide (idk if every school in the country has been shut down but I'm sure that every school in my state has closed). I just hope the Nigerian government can handle it before it gets too bad. Thanks for asking though ❤️

I will be assisting with the COVID testing tomorrow for my state which has a relatively low # of cases. We expect this number to increases as our part of the state just started massive testing today. I bring it up so as to not to frighten people. As testing becomes more prominent the number of cases will increase. Right now the U.S. has a high death rate (60+%) because a lot of the cases which are expected to heal are still quarantined. The vast majority of the cases are expected to resolve for the better. Even with that, it is still important to maintain and preserve social distancing.

Thanks for creating this thread about COVID 19!

I feel like the only person in my area actively socially distancing from others. I have started calling my friends instead of seeing them. One of my neighbors was with a large group of people outside and they weren't even socially distancing.

@CaringBrit People just don't follow the guidelines because they don't care about other people dying from COVID 19 and they are getting tired of obv being at home.

Personally, this is they type of behavior that isn't going to flatten the curve of infections and is going to cause us to get a large spike in cases, and as such, more deaths and an overwhelming of the healthcare system.

I personally don't like interacting with people that much, its quality over quantity because I think most people aren't worth your time. I would much rather read a book than interact with others.

@CaringBrit Where would they go at this point unless they are violating some sort of lockdown? They are either going to get COVID 19 or eventually get caught by a patrolman and told to go home anyways.

This type of behavior in this rough time is absolutely appalling and it is a true disgrace to people like you who have vulerabilities. He is putting you and others lives at risk by doing this, and it is not okay.

I hope that he comes to his senses and realizes what he did was very wrong.

The more people do this kind of stuff (and I assume as time goes on, it will happen more often because people will go stir crazy) is not going to help our cause.

@chessman6500 his friends have their own home the uk advice is 2 metres from another person so inside the space my glat is the same size as my neighbours above me living room is not very big there less than 2 metres apart from each other and uk gov advises all to be self isolating and yet there coming over to my neighbours place no patrols have been set yet they havent gone hat far but may have too if advice isnt being followed

@ASilentObserver I'm a bit confused about the advice as to where to get our information from. That seems political in nature to be honest. I like to get my updates from Dr. Hinshaw, as it seems the most relevant to me, why should I follow the CDC when it gives nothing about my city's state of emergency, the province's state of emergency and I doubt little would be said if the country here declares a state of emergency?

ASilentObserver OP March 22nd, 2020

@AffyAvo Affy, I hear you. The primary point is to follow the authentic sources to get the correct information rather than believing in any unsolicited information getting spread or shared in the rooms. I hope that makes sense. It can be CDC, WHO or any authentic source which you believe provides you 100% accurate information.

AffyAvo March 22nd, 2020

@ASilentObserver WHO might be a better resource to list in the OP, as that's international.

CaringBrit March 23rd, 2020

@AffyAvo i agree please o link WHO obs thats where britain gets their info from since cdc is american i know this site is dominantly american butr not everyone is its probs better using international links rather than national
