Mantras To Live By
A mantra is "a word or phrase that is repeated often or that expresses someone's basic beliefs."
A mantra is a self affirmation that you can repeat & think to yourself. Itcan help you be reflective about your personal thought patterns and work on improving them. Pick 1 or 2 that you want to work on and make a commitment to thinking them this week. Say them to youself when you wake up in the morning and before bed.
Let us know how it goes! You can create your own & share them here. Here are a few for you to start with:
I love myself and accept myself in this moment.
I forgive myself.
Keep your head up & your heart open.
My life is a magical gift.
This too shall pass.
I am strong & vibrant. I bring my unique opinions & world view to everything that I do.
I will accept the change that I cannot change.
"Even the weariest river winds somewhere safe to sea"
I guess it could be taken badly, but it got me through high school :)
"everything happens for a reason"
the life lesson that won the contest "a life lesson in 5 words or less." :
"life sucks, get over it."
Every day might not be a good day, but there is good in every day.
I too easily write off a whole day because of a couple of things, so this is a good one for me to keep in mind.
My Mantras are "If I let it consume me it will" and "I cannot change what I've done in the past, I can only change what I do in the future"
I find these mantra's extremely helpful when I deal withintense guilt over what I've done or who I've hurt in the past. If I let the thoughts consume me they will.I also have to remind myself that the past is unchangeable. I can only change what I do from now on
Awesome post! I completely agree that it is important to focus on how we can change or better our future, rather than letting our past define us.
"There's always tomorrow"
I read something online the other day and it completely changed my perspective: "Stop trying to fix yourself and just enjoy your life." Sure, difficult to do at times, but a nice reminder when life becomes too overwhelming.
Mine is "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!" - Dora in Finding Nemo
"Better days are coming" "You'll never change what's been and gone" (Oasis, the song Stop Crying Your Heart Out" and "There is a light that never goes out" which means hope for me (taken from the song with the same name, made by The Smiths)
"be patient;everything will be okay"
I actually madea bead bracelet that says "be patient" on it & I wear it everyday, it's a really nice reminder.
