Welcome to Group Leadership Dynamics & Development Program!

I am excited and glad to have you with us. We are here with you to provide all support and guidance during your learning journey. This has been something we believe helps you get a better understanding of group dynamics. Please find the course description below.

Course Description:

It focuses on the communication and leadership behavior of individuals within group structures. The theoretical and practical knowledge are used to explore the stages of group development, decision-making techniques, group dynamics, group problem and solving, group leadership skills, cultural sensitivity, norms, and interpersonal dynamics within groups.

Please also introduce yourself and let us (if you are comfortable) where you are from and your personality type.

If you do not know your personality type, you can take a quiz here to know it! Share the one strength that you think will help you out in becoming an effective group specialist.

Please remember, you are unique and have personal strengths and gifts that set you apart from others but you can utilize them to gather all and support them in a unique way that others might not even imagine of. You have that strength and personal gift. All you need to identify, acknowledge, amplify, and deliberately use them every day to strengthen yourself to provide support and strength to others.

It will not only allow you to successfully complete this program but also help you to progress and grow on your personal and professional fronts too. You are taking a significant step towards learning and creating a difference.

my personality is Mediator Personality INFP-A / INFP-T

my top strength is being, Thoughtful – Mediators care about other people’s feelings. They adjust their actions if they think they might hurt anyone, even unintentionally. Kindheartedness flows from Mediator personalities, and everyone around them tends to benefit from it.

which is amazing and i hope everyone knows they are amazing and unique in their own way

@iwishuwell Hey Iwish, Thank you for being part of the program. I hope you are learning and having a good experience. I see you are an INFP and being thoughtful is your key strength. I think it will immensely help you to connect with your group in a better way because your responses to them will be thoughtful which makes them feel heard and understood. It allows developing a healthy connection, trust, and comfort between the group and the facilitator to have the best interaction.

One strength that I think will help you in becoming an effective group specialist is that I'm observant. I notice details of what people share (for example: someone mentions that they've started a new job; I notice and remember that so when I see them again, I can ask "How's the new job going?")

@Sher217 Hey Sher, Thank you for being part of the program I hope you are doing well. I see you are an ISFP-T and being observant is your key strength. As well as ISFPs are friendly and get along well with other people. And that would really help you being a group facilitator as you can connect with your group easily and have healthy interaction and connection with them.

Hey. I'm Azula and my personality type is Executive ESTJ-T

My strengths are:

Dedicated – Seeing things to completion borders on an ethical obligation for Executives. Tasks aren’t simply abandoned because they’ve become difficult or boring – people with the Executive personality type take them up when they are the right thing to do, and they will be finished so long as they remain the right thing to do.

Strong-willed – A strong will makes this dedication possible, and Executives don’t give up their beliefs because of simple opposition. Executives defend their ideas and principles relentlessly, and must be proven clearly and conclusively wrong for their stance to budge.

Direct and Honest – Executives trust facts far more than abstract ideas or opinions. Straightforward statements and information are king, and Executive personalities return the honesty (whether it’s wanted or not).

Loyal, Patient and Reliable – Executives work to exemplify truthfulness and reliability, considering stability and security very important. When Executives say they’ll do something, they keep their word, making them very responsible members of their families, companies and communities.

Enjoy Creating Order – Chaos makes things unpredictable, and unpredictable things can’t be trusted when they are needed most – with this in mind, Executives strive to create order and security in their environments by establishing rules, structures and clear roles.

Excellent Organizers – This commitment to truth and clear standards makes Executives capable and confident leaders. People with this personality type have no problem distributing tasks and responsibilities to others fairly and objectively, making them excellent administrators.

My weaknesses:

Inflexible and Stubborn – The problem with being so fixated on what works is that Executives too often dismiss what might work better. Everything is opinion until proven, and Executive personalities are reluctant to trust an opinion long enough for it to have that chance.

Uncomfortable with Unconventional Situations – Executives are strong adherents to tradition and when suddenly forced to try unvetted solutions, they become uncomfortable and stressed. New ideas suggest that their methods weren’t good enough, and abandoning what has always worked before in favor of something that may yet fail risks their image of reliability.

Judgmental – Executives have strong convictions about what is right, wrong, and socially acceptable. Executives’ compulsion to create order often extends to all things and everyone, ignoring the possibility that there are two right ways to get things done. Executives do not hesitate to let these “deviants” know what they think, considering it their duty to set things right.

Too Focused on Social Status – Executives take pride in the respect of their friends, colleagues and community and while difficult to admit, are very concerned with public opinion. Executives (especially Turbulent ones) can get so caught up in meeting others’ expectations that they fail to address their own needs.

Difficult to Relax – This need for respect fosters a need to maintain their dignity, which can make it difficult to cut loose and relax for risk of looking the fool, even in good fun.

Difficulty Expressing Emotion – This is all evidence of Executives’ greatest weakness: expressing emotions and feeling empathy. People with the Executive personality type get so caught up in the facts and most effective methods that they forget to think of what makes others happy, or of their sensitivity. A detour can be breathtakingly beautiful, a joy for the family, but Executives may only see the consequence of arriving at their destination an hour late, hurting their loved ones by rejecting the notion too harshly.

@azuladragon34 Hello Azula! thank you for being part of the program. I see you are an ESTJ i.e. your key strength is focused on high values and standards, rules, and guidelines. And, this is wonderful. Being a facilitator of a group, it is required to ensure groups are running as per the guidelines and rules so that everyone feels included, supported, and heard. And, as it is your natural trait, you can easily facilitate a good conversation between individuals in the group.

As you can help them feel comfortable to share their thoughts and emotions, encouraged and motivated to take steps to progress and heal. It is a wonderful trait any group facilitator can have and you are natural with it.

@ASilentObserver Hey everyone! After reading the requirements of the Leadership program, I have realized that I won't be able to finish it. I need to obtain the Peer Support badge. To get that I need over 100 chats, 6 positive reviews. I won't be able to complete these in time for the program. I will disqualify myself or they will drop me like a hot potato. Either way good luck with the program!

@jessa411 Hey Jessa, Thank you for your feedback and patience for the response. I am sorry to hear that and I can understand how it could be tough. So we heard you and other's thoughts and made some changes to ensure one does not have to focus on chasing roles but work on learning and experiencing group dynamics. Hi! I'm Dino and I'm from the United States.

My personality type is ISTJ- logistician

As a logistician, I think a strength of mine that will help me be a group support leader is my ability to be logical in all I do, to interact with others in a manner that is best for good communication, to ensure that there are no misunderstandings and everything stays supportive. This is an important strength because good communication is important to make sure things are done in a clear and logical way

@Dino12 Hey Dino, thank you for being part of the program. And I see you are an ISTJ which means you are good with reasoning and logics and that is a wonderful skill to have as a group facilitator. Your communication with the group and your reasoning for any thoughts would really help the group to understand points and get better clarity about their thoughts, concerns, and emotions and how to handle them better as an individual or a group.

@kieran000 Hey Kieran, Thank you for being part of the program. Nice meeting you. I see you are INFJ which is a rare personality and being empathetic is one of the core traits of a group facilitator. And you have it naturally so it really going to help you build healthy and compassionate connections with your group and make them feel belonged and comfortable around you to share their thoughts and emotions.

My personality type is INFP-T (Turbulent Mediator)

One of the strengths of my personality according to the INFP-T characteristics is that I am extremely empathetic.

I have found this paragraph to describe the way I think the most: "Many Mediators are curious about the depths of human nature, and they often make an effort to understand other people’s true feelings. This can make them capable of great empathy. It can also enable them to communicate in ways that are sensitive, original, and quite moving."

Debaters rarely pass up a good opportunity to learn something new, especially abstract concepts. This information isn’t usually absorbed for any planned purpose as with dedicated studying, people with the Debater personality type just find it fascinating.

As a group facilitator, it will be really helpful to you to build a group as you will have something to learn about each individual's personality in the group and find common grounds to connect and engage them so they feel heard, supported and belonged in a group environment.
