late-night/early morning thoughts
Why is it that some nights, the old memories come back?...
Will anything change that?
No...not in this life.
Only in the void of non-existence will you find peace. It has always been so.
@slowdecline48 hugs you tightly ❤bad memories are really hard to deal with. It's the time of year I start spiralling into deep depression, but this year I'm not going to let it win ❤ we are all here for you ❤ I'm always here for you
@Tinywhisper11 Thanks, Lo...you're a sweet one. Last night was a bit difficult but I've had worse ones. Today is a new day. Gonna try to fulfill a couple tasks.
@slowdecline48
Bad memories sneak their way into my mind, sometimes during the day, sometimes during the night. But it doesn’t win over me anymore like it used to. I recommend going out on walks or just getting some fresh air/sunlight, watching the sunrise/sunset, being with friends, listening to music or nature sounds. These things often help create positive memories which you can then use to drown out the bad memories.
Reach out to anyone here for help and/or support. We’re all here to give you that along with anything else you need. That’s what this wonderful beautiful site is for.
Support, best wishes, best of luck, hugs, and a whole lotta ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@akunknown Sounds like good advice, I appreciate it.
@slowdecline48
Hope it helps you as it helped me. Good luck ❤️
@Tinywhisper11 You got this Tiny! ❤️
@slowdecline48 Because the ghosts always come out at night. Seriously - it's quieter and there's less distractions so our brains says hey let's take a trip down memory lane. It always sucks
@slowdecline48
It’s not uncommon for old memories to resurface, especially during quiet moments or times of reflection. These memories can be triggered by various factors like emotions, experiences, or even sensory cues. While it can be unsettling, it’s important to remember that it’s a normal part of processing our past.
Healing isn’t about erasing memories but learning to understand and cope with them in healthier ways. Over time and with self-care, the intensity and frequency of these memories often lessen. Finding ways to express your feelings, whether through art, writing, or talking with someone you trust, can be incredibly healing.
Change is possible, and healing is a journey. Each step you take towards understanding yourself and your experiences brings you closer to peace. It’s okay to seek support and guidance along the way—whether from friends, a therapist, or supportive communities like this one.
Look towards the brighter side by acknowledging your resilience and courage. You have the strength within you to navigate through these moments and come out stronger. Embrace self-compassion and allow yourself the time and space you need to heal.
With empathy and hope,
LittleEggHarbor
@LittleEggHarbor Your comment is absolutely beautiful!
@slowdecline48 I was reading something you posted about being an artist, and how you just go places, and instead of trying to fit in you be the scene, and I do the same thing, but no one hardly ever says anything. I go, and draw, and paint in public. I ride my bike places, and also take photos. The problem I have about being an artist is Ive basically drawing, and painting everyday. Most of the day for over 6 years, and nobody likes my art, and I am always trying to practice on what I need to work on, and I have so many styles, and now I reached a point im so frustrated I dont even want to draw anymore. I stopped posting to social media except ***, and now I dont even want to post to *** anymore. I think my depression is starting to get to me a lot more lately. Hopefully I can get back into art. I just feel like no one cares, but at the same time realize you shouldn't do it for other, but yourself. So im trying to keep that in mind. I just feel so depressed that I dont want to draw anymore.
@aimforequality Am flattered, thanks. I never know who will read my posts on here.... But seriously...
If you do your art for yourself, then be clear about your motivations. If you truly make pictures for yourself first (or even only) then it shouldn't matter whether a lot of people like your work or not. The odd thing is, sometimes when you do your thing with no concern about others' opinions, that's when people start paying attention to your art. This doesn't work 100% of the time but in my experience, it works more often than not.
If you have several different styles, it is possible that your efforts are too diffused for you to make any real progress in any particular direction. Maybe try reducing the number of styles to the bare minimum, or the ones you like working in the best. It is concentrated effort that leads to progress.
@slowdecline48 Thank you for commenting. One of my friends mentioned that I do have these moments where I don't draw temporarily, and than I come back better.
I get what you mean by sticking with one style, and normally I would agree, but Ive spent so much time on each style. I can do them all very well, but I know that im not an artist that spends hours, and hours on a drawing. I do give a lot of credit for someone that can do that, but every artist is different. What I usually do is look at something, and draw it my way, but it usually doesnt looks anything like the original.
The biggest problem I have with artist today is how people sometimes treat them like they are special. It makes them full of themselves, and I would never want to feel that way. So im just going to continue drawing for fun, never do it for money, or likes. I have lots of other hobbies also. So when I dont feel like drawing I can do them. My goal is help myself manage my anxiety, and depression.
That's because we are special. 😎
...but seriously, that's a good point. In any field where one can amass an audience or following, if you get one then you can let it go to your head if you're not careful. I consider Andy Warhol one of the more egotistical public figures of the 20th century. (He's also overrated as a painter, but that's for a different thread)
@slowdecline48 So I mentioned how artist are egoitistal to a friend, and she said sometimes that its not that bad because people need to be motivated to make art, and so sometimes that happens, and when I think about it even if they do. Well at least they keep it to themselves usually.
I get bothered when people talk to artist though when they think they are special because I think those people have a low self esteem, and they are disrespecting themselves.
I read basically that in order for people to deal with life normally they need a hobby. IF they dont have something to look forward to they will have no motivation to doing anything.
Anyways I think im started to get back into art at least. I just have had a few bad days lately.
@slowdecline48 hey it's lovely message me... forever chris
Fortunately most of my nights aren't like the above...not this year.
What normally keeps me up is the head pain & the ringing in my ears.
@slowdecline48 yesterday at work I had a panic attack because of the train that is right in front of my job I don't know why I have a very vague idea of maybe the reason but I don't know for sure but it gets me every time I hear the train horn and I shut down. It went by twice yesterday within 15 minutes and then last night trying to go to sleep while I could think of what's the train I woke up probably 5 or 6 times in the middle of the night trying to catch my breath
@TERATONCHRIS The train's horn bothers you, then... Is that it? Or is the noise of the engine & the wheels on the rails also agitating?
Whenever my nerves get rattled I try deep breathing, quite controlled, for at least 30 seconds. Will do it for a minute or a bit longer if I have to. Maybe that'll work for you...
For a period in my late teens & early 20's, I had wanderlust. Whenever I was lying in bed & heard a train going by on those Southern Pacific tracks, I had an urge to run as fast as I could & jump on...get in one of the boxcars with all my stuff in a backpack. I wanted to ride it to wherever it was going, not knowing where or when I'd get off.
@slowdecline48 it's the horn. If I was closer to it all of the above might do it... Disruptive to my natural vibrations perhaps. But I have a morbid story opposite your wanderlust more like a 'trainscend'lust that's was bad I'm sorry lol
@slowdecline48 hiya lovey, depends what thoughts and memories are coming back, what triggering them? It's same for me, I spray my grandmas perfume, open the jewellery bag of ashes that their in. They say times a healer, but I think that's ***. Talking is one of the best medicine ever
Depends with what memories you having from your past experience...my experience is bad but I shut down every memory that is not healthy to me. Like watching movies, surfing or just switch my mind to sleep
