I’d ask what it’s about and what it has to do with me. My reaction whatever it is would be entirely based on what their answers are to those questions. That way I can say that my reaction is completely valid and justified 😂😂😂😂

@Tinywhisper11 In my head, I'd be thinking, "Well, great, you messed up" (even though I didn’t do anything—it's just my go-to reaction- good old self blame). But on the outside, I’d keep it cool, follow the "procedures" and ask, “Am I being detained, or am I free to go?” If they say I’m not detained, I’d just say, “I don’t wish to speak.” But if they say I am detained, I'd ask, “What’s the reason?” and ask for their ID. Then, I’d let them know, “I’m not talking without my lawyer here.”
If they start asking about something like, “Did you see a suspicious person walking down that street?” I’d probably be like, “Honestly, I’m not the best person to ask about what’s going on around me. I’m kind of in my own little la la land.” Not the most reliable narrator out there.

@Tinywhisper11 Honestly, it’s better to make the police bored of you than to catch their attention. You could always read them something like tax laws, just to keep things boring. 🤓

@azurePond I heartily endorse the above procedure, but would add that one should carry it out politely. Stand up for your rights but remember...it doesn't help to antagonize a guy with a badge & a gun.
@slowdecline48 Absolutely. The first thing I was taught when dealing with someone in power is to avoid antagonizing them (cops, lawyers, politicians, bureaucrats.... my parents ... ). You may not agree with their views, but I know , it's important to remain respectful. I also liked your response — simple "okay" then silence and watchfulness. Listening to them can make a big difference. Sometimes, asserting your rights can come off as snarky, but usually, the way they approach you and the language they use will guide you on the best type of response to give. But yeah, I agree with you - A python is dangerous, even when it's not venomous so it is always better not to antagonise them (I’m referring to people in power in general. I have respect for cops and their service.) Well, this took a serious turn.
