Have you taken Anti-depressants? What have you experienced? [Do Not Share Medication Name or Dosage]
I've only tried [meds name removed by FM @RaCat] and got hallucinations from a single low dose that lasted for a few days (my family always seems to get the weird side-effects). I'm going to try again soon with another type, but I'm honestly pretty scared.
What are your experiences?
I want to hear all about it; the good, the bad, and anything you'd like to share!
[MonBon edited title and post for clarification on guideline #6]
I have hypersensitivity to medications so at first I was very ill for weeks however once I found the right medications they began to help. They no longer work though so I am thinking of talking to my doctor about it
I have been on many kinds of antidepressants from age 18. [MonBon edited medication name] was the first one and when funding stopped for the drug on the pilot program I was enrolled in, I had to stop the medication cold turkey which didn't go well. I later was on [MonBon edited medication name] and was tried on [MonBon edited medication name] and had terrible hallucination and nausea and also had a toxic level with poorly monitored[MonBon edited medication name] in another special program. The best results have been with [MonBon edited medication name]. I might have been on other antidepressants for a short time but can't say for sure. I wish they didn't have the side effect of weight gain and fatigue. @MoonOrchid

Been on several, on nothing right now. First didn;t seem to have any effect, next made me a robot - no feelings about anything. The most recent helped with the depression and anxiety but killed my sex drive completely, which wasn't so good for the relationship I was in. Since I'm going thru a bad patch, I've been talking to my doc - he has a few ideas about non SSRI antidepressants but he's wanting me to make some lifestyle changes first.

Wanted to let you know I edited your post title to remind everyone not to share medication names. It is possible in the future this guideline may be adjusted, but for right now the guideline states: " Specific medication, drug names / dosages, or brand names of alcohol are not allowed. "
To clarify, we are allowed to share our experiences and the "types" of medications, ex: when I increased the dosage of my antidepressant / SSRI, I experienced more fatigue and weight gain.
I hope the clarification helps and you are able to get the support that you need! For questions regarding specific medications or dosages, that is probably a question that should be saved for a physician. Best of luck!
My antidepressant SSRI has worked well in elimating the dizzying panic attacks that I would have prior to taking it.
There are some annoying side effects with it, though, such as ...
1. Migraine headaches (not overly painful but very uncomfortable to work through and last for about a day and a half) that occur rught before or during the heavy days of my menstrual cycle
2. Feeling like I have to pee all the time (especially whe I first began taking it but now usually happens only after drinking alcohol, which I still sometimes do although not nearly as much as I used to, drinking coffee, which I refuse to give up, or eating certain foods (probably foods high in "hidden sodium")
3. Some loss of apetite and weight loss - I tend to feel fuller faster and have lost, at one point, 16 pounds since I began taking it
When my doctor put me on an antidepressant, I had to wait for about two weeks before it took effect. My worst problem was lethargy in addition to what I simply call "bad thoughts". The antidepressant, once it took effect, helped me find the energy to get up and do things, including finding a therapist and taking steps towards getting better. I didn't experience any side effects, but then again, my dosage isn't that high, even though m doctor doubled it when I told her the first dosage didn't do too much.
I don't feel like medication does anything for me
I was started on antidepressant(1) 2 months ago and had some side effects for a while but they werent terrible and went after 2 weeks but the med hasnt helped my depression so i am being put on antidepressant(2) once im weaned of antidepressant(1)
Been on antidepressants for about 3 weeks. I notice no difference so far. Makes me a bit sleepy and dizzy almost, but that doesnt borher me much. Im kind of exhausted most of the time, but I was before a started taking them so... But they say it can take a while untill you start notice any differnce.
I tried one AD and I spent three weeks wide awake, couldn
