1) Introduction to Content and Marketing at 7 Cups
7 Cups currently has separate dedicated teams that focus on both Content and Marketing. This discussion outlines both teams and provides an overview of their current focus.
(A) Content Volunteer Team
The Content Volunteer Team was relaunched and redesigned in 2020 and is led by @SoulfullyAButterfly - more information including an application can be found here
Focus:
The team works to improve site content in the following areas:
(i) Questions and Answers (Q&A Pages): Quality answers are researched and written in light of search engine optimization (SEO) and other best practices to ensure that the community gets verified, valuable information in response to common mental health questions and concerns. These answers are considered “short tasks” as they involve quicker content production.
(ii) Expert Mental Health News and Advice Section: Existing, published articles are reviewed to ensure up-to-date information, quality length, expert verified facts and other important topic categories by editors.
In addition, fresh content is produced for:
(iii) Expert Mental Health News and Advice Section: Alongside fresh content provided by experts, the team works to research and produce relevant fresh content articles that help boost information and awareness related to the categories that 7 Cups offers expertise in. Writers are welcome to collaborate with experts to publish co-authored articles or produce content individually to be published under the 7 Cups Community Account.
(iv) All other Content Needs: The team is ready to tackle and undertake content tasks that may come up as other needs. These content assignments can relate to listener guides, upcoming growth path playlists, improvement and support of online therapy-related information as well as many other possibilities!
(B) Team Lightship
As a revamp to the Social Soldiers Team at 7 Cups, Project Lightship was announced in late 2020 as the current volunteer-led marketing team for 7 Cups on Twitter. It is currently being led by @Rebecca947 and @Isentropic
Focus:
The team intends to eliminate mental health stigma by identifying those who need support as presented by social media (Twitter) based messages. The team not only works on bringing awareness by using and promoting mental health-based content but actively outreaches to potential users in need of a safe haven to invite them to use 7 Cups.
The team currently has one track with a focus on:
(i) Outreaching to 20 people with compassionate messages and support per month
(ii) Generating content and posting 5 posts.
As the team is currently testing only one track, we can expect future opportunities with the growth of Team Lightship! Further information, including an application, can be found here
Other Social Media Platforms for Content:
In the meantime, 7 Cups has official accounts on social media platforms that are run by community admins. Students of this current course as well as the Content Team will prospectively add to these content and content marketing efforts!

I am interested in learning to form content that is not preachy and that can provide something new amidst the ocean of information we have nowadays.
Which current area of the Content or Marketing focus at 7 Cups interests you the most? Please feel welcome to share your reasons.
I'm interested in the areas which benefit the most vulnerable and those who struggle to interact or feel like they fit in. There is an area where you can see posts which do not have replies, labelled "needs reply" and would like to see that promoted on the front page again, as no replies can indicate to someone that no one cares. In regards to marketing, I am interested in the plans to promote 7 cups better. Most I speak with have never heard of this, and it is an invaluable site for connecting people with others valid experience or want to listen.
@SoulfullyAButterfly Lately, my main focus has been on content creation for social media, as I also work with businesses in that field. However, I’m really excited to explore areas of content and marketing at 7 Cups that I’m less familiar with. I’m particularly interested in learning how we can use content to connect with people on a deeper level and foster engagement within a community. Discovering new strategies to support and uplift our members is something I find inspiring, and I’m looking forward to diving into these areas.

Team lightship interests me most.
Although 7 cups have its fair share of being well known, sometimes there are still people out there who are yet to have their place on cups.People who are going through hard times mostly post on social medias just to find someone who can listen them.so when there is a team with a mission to help those future cupsies to find their safe place here it's life saving help.
Writing and editing are my forte. Consequently, those—subconsciously—dictate my choices.
Writing articles, therefore, is what I think I’d like to be involved with. That and editing articles written for specific genres to ensure they are crisp and get to the point as quickly as they can.
To me, social media posts are an extension of article-writing. After all, content for posts does get recycled from articles written earlier—with a few tweaks (and hashtags!) thrown in for good measure.
So yes, social media posts would interest me as well. Given that attention spans have thinned down to 15 seconds or less, it would be quite a challenge to develop media to grab the interest/attention of, and educate, that kind of an audience.
@SoulfullyAButterfly I am particularly interested in the content volunteer team. I believe it would be tricky for me to create an answer to the question asked using the keywords provided, which makes me feel thrilled and intrigued, as if I were solving a riddle. Expert mental health news and advice will be really beneficial for me to contribute what I am learning in graduating as I pursue a degree in psychology, which makes me happy about my decision to pursue psychology. I've applied to join the team and would be overjoyed if I was selected. Fingers crossed!🤞

Question for discussion:
Which current area of the Content or Marketing focus at 7
cups interests you the most? Please feel welcome to share your reasons.
Answer:
Although all of these areas look interesting, I’m particularly drawn to the Questions
and Answers (Q&A pages) and Expert mental health news and advice section.
Reasons:
I believe these are direct ways to raise awareness and provide help to people. Also, I enjoy reading and analyzing research articles. I think it’s an excellent way to gain knowledge and share it with others. Additionally, I’m passionate about writing and searching for additional information to enhance content.
It’s great to see all the effort being put into these initiatives.
@SoulfullyAButterfly
I would be interested in editing articles, but I’m open to trying different areas and learning.
@EventHorizons great. looking forward to your contributions

Honestly, I am very interested in contributing to all areas that the 7 Cups CDM team engages in. Among these, the work that excites me the most is generating and posting content for social media. 7 Cups has already built a strong legacy in supporting mental health, and I believe it has even more potential to reach people in underserved regions, helping to spread awareness about the importance of mental well-being. Social media can be a effective tool to work on this goal.
Another area that interests me is developing fresh, long-form content, particularly in the form of articles that imbibes story telling format. Creating high quality, easily consumable and also enjoyable content with the purpose of strengthening the 7 cups community, hits the right spot for me.

Expert mental health news and advice section-what excites me the most is the opportunity for collaboration between writers and experts. This not only fosters a rich exchange of ideas but also leads to high-quality, insightful articles that can significantly impact the community’s understanding and awareness of important topics. The blend of individual creativity and expert knowledge can create a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
