Bio

Hello, I’m Mya! I’m a 24-year-old feminist verified listener for adults and a
community mentor in the Women’s Issues Community. I’m here to offer
compassionate support 💛

Having personal experiences in
navigating mental health challenges, including anxiety disorders,
depression, loneliness, and type 1 diabetes,
I understand the
importance of having a safe space to express your thoughts and feelings
during difficult times. I aim to create that supportive environment for
you.

Please note that I currently don’t take chats about
sexuality, grief and relationships with age gaps
. Additionally, I don’t engage in conversations with individuals who display discriminatory behavior. I am very strict about maintaining these boundaries to ensure a respectful and supportive environment.

While I am here to offer non-judgmental
support, this means respecting all individuals without judgment for who
they are—not ignoring harmful or inappropriate behavior. Addressing such
behavior firmly is essential for maintaining a safe, supportive
environment for everyone.

While I typically respond with some
delay since I’m online during weekdays and don’t take live chats at the
moment, please feel free to message me anytime, and I’ll get back to you
as soon as possible.

I speak both French and English, and I often use an translator to save time and enhance the clarity of my messages.

If
you have a moment, please consider leaving a review—your feedback is
essential for my growth as a listener. Thank you for visiting my
profile, and take care!

The Pressure to Smile: Challenging the Sexist Expectation
Women's Issues / by Mya000
Last post
Sunday
...See more Have you ever been told to "smile, it’s not that bad" or "don’t be so serious"? Society often expects women to smile at all times, regardless of how we’re feeling inside. This pressure can feel suffocating, as it reinforces the idea that women’s emotions should always be calm and pleasing to others. The expectation to constantly smile, even when we're stressed, anxious, or upset, is a restriction on our emotional expression. This injunction to smile is not only unrealistic but deeply rooted in sexist ideals. Women are often expected to appear happy or accommodating at all costs, regardless of the circumstances, as though our worth and value are tied to our outward appearance and our ability to please others. This can lead to suppressing our true emotions, which is harmful to our mental and emotional health. Women should have the freedom to express their feelings authentically, without being judged or pressured to perform happiness. Whether we're upset, frustrated, or simply not in the mood to smile, it’s okay to embrace the full range of emotions and to be true to ourselves. You don’t owe anyone a smile, and your feelings are valid no matter what. How do you handle the pressure to smile? What are some ways we can unlearn this expectation and embrace our true emotions?
I Love My Comfort Zone!

...See more These days, there’s so much emphasis on “leaving your comfort zone” but I want to take a moment to appreciate staying in it! My comfort zone is my sanctuary—a space where I feel secure, connected, and at peace. Here, I can recharge, reflect, and feel truly whole. I’m deeply grateful for this refuge, knowing not everyone has a safe place to return to. Comfort is often seen as something to break out of, but why can’t we simply enjoy it? Feeling at ease in our own lives is a beautiful thing. Choosing comfort doesn’t mean we’re stagnant or afraid of growth, it means we’re honoring our boundaries and respecting what feels right for us. Life is challenging enough without constantly forcing ourselves out of what feels safe and nourishing. Growth can absolutely happen within comfort. We can expand our horizons, set meaningful goals, and discover new things about ourselves—all while staying grounded in what feels like home. We don’t need to shatter our comfort zone to grow, we can gently expand it if it’s not quite big enough for us to feel fully fulfilled in life. So here’s to the power of comfort zones and the beauty of feeling good right where we are ✨

Celebrating Halloween When You're Feeling Low 🎃
Positivity & Gratitude / by Mya000

...See more Halloween can be a challenging time for those who feel isolated or unwell, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find joy in the season! Here are some accessible ideas and resources to help you celebrate Halloween in a way that feels good for you. Cozy Movie Night! Instead of scary horror films that can be detrimental to mental health, opt for uplifting or fun Halloween-themed movies! Consider classics like Hocus Pocus, Casper, or The Addams Family. You might also enjoy Hotel Transylvania, Scooby-Doo, or A Little Bit of Magic. For a cozy experience, grab some popcorn, cookies and a warm drink or any snack you love! Tip: If you're struggling with trauma or anxiety, check out the kids' section on Netflix for a selection that typically avoids triggering scenes. These movies are often enjoyable for adults as well! You can also explore Common Sense Media [https://www.commonsensemedia.org/] for family-friendly movie recommendations. Interactive Netflix Games! If you have Netflix, explore their interactive games for a fun change of pace! These games can provide a unique way to engage with your favorite characters and stories, whether they have a spooky theme or are just plain enjoyable. Personally, I love You vs. Wild, where you can make choices for Bear Grylls on his adventurous journeys! You can find these interactive options directly on the Netflix platform. Fun Quizzes on YouTube! If you don’t have Netflix, consider challenging yourself with Halloween-themed quizzes on YouTube! There are many options with varying difficulty levels and a wide range of themes to choose from. Here are a couple of fun examples: * MOVIE QUIZ | Halloween Edition | Guess the Movie [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Tlm73OT2Ic] * Test Your Halloween Knowledge: 20 Spooky Questions [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0C36TO_qEk] These quizzes can be a great way to engage with the season, either on your own or with someone. Get Creative with Colouring! Engage your creative side with coloring! This relaxing activity not only allows you to express your artistic flair but also provides numerous benefits for your mental health. If you have a coloring book, you can find plenty of free printable coloring pages online. Check out for Halloween-themed options. Disconnect from Social Media! Comparing your situation to others on social media can heighten feelings of loneliness. Consider taking a break during Halloween to focus on self-care and your own celebrations. Join a 7 Cups Group Chat! If you’re looking for connection, consider joining a group chat on 7 Cups. It’s a wonderful space where you can talk with others who understand what you’re going through. You can also host your own Halloween-themed event or quiz by asking a moderator to set up a banner! Dive into a Good Book! Reading can be a fantastic escape! Find a Halloween-themed book or a cozy mystery to immerse yourself in, or pick any genre you enjoy. For accessible audiobooks, check out Audible [https://www.audible.com/] or Libby [https://libbyapp.com/], which connects you to your local library’s digital collection. You can also find free Halloween audiobooks on YouTube [https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=halloween+audiobooks]. Play Video Games! If gaming is your thing, indulge in video games, whether Halloween-themed or not! If you don’t have any games, you can find free options for your laptop like Halloween [https://www.google.com/search?q=gogodl+play+ahlloween&rlz=1CATRIY_enFR1003&oq=gogodl+play+ahlloween&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIMCAEQABgNGLEDGIAEMgkIAhAAGA0YgAQyCQgDEAAYDRiABDIJCAQQABgNGIAEMgkIBRAAGA0YgAQyCQgGEAAYDRiABDIJCAcQABgNGIAEMgkICBAAGA0YgAQyCQgJEAAYDRiABNIBCTE0ODA4ajBqOagCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8] Google [https://www.google.com/search?q=gogodl+play+ahlloween&rlz=1CATRIY_enFR1003&oq=gogodl+play+ahlloween&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIMCAEQABgNGLEDGIAEMgkIAhAAGA0YgAQyCQgDEAAYDRiABDIJCAQQABgNGIAEMgkIBRAAGA0YgAQyCQgGEAAYDRiABDIJCAcQABgNGIAEMgkICBAAGA0YgAQyCQgJEAAYDRiABNIBCTE0ODA4ajBqOagCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8] Doodle [https://www.google.com/search?q=gogodl+play+ahlloween&rlz=1CATRIY_enFR1003&oq=gogodl+play+ahlloween&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIMCAEQABgNGLEDGIAEMgkIAhAAGA0YgAQyCQgDEAAYDRiABDIJCAQQABgNGIAEMgkIBRAAGA0YgAQyCQgGEAAYDRiABDIJCAcQABgNGIAEMgkICBAAGA0YgAQyCQgJEAAYDRiABNIBCTE0ODA4ajBqOagCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8] Game [https://www.google.com/search?q=gogodl+play+ahlloween&rlz=1CATRIY_enFR1003&oq=gogodl+play+ahlloween&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIMCAEQABgNGLEDGIAEMgkIAhAAGA0YgAQyCQgDEAAYDRiABDIJCAQQABgNGIAEMgkIBRAAGA0YgAQyCQgGEAAYDRiABDIJCAcQABgNGIAEMgkICBAAGA0YgAQyCQgJEAAYDRiABNIBCTE0ODA4ajBqOagCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8] or for your phone on the Apple App Store or Google Play. One of my personal favorites is Good Pizza, Great Pizza [https://goodpizzagreatpizza.com/], which is currently Halloween-themed and free to play! Try Something Totally Different! If Halloween isn’t your thing, that’s perfectly fine! Consider doing something completely different, like watching a new show, trying out a hobby, or cooking a new recipe. The key is to engage in activities that you enjoy without feeling pressured to celebrate in a certain way. ------------------------- It’s okay to celebrate Halloween in your own unique way. Embrace what feels good for you and allow yourself to enjoy the season, even if it looks different than what you might expect 💛 What are some ways you plan to celebrate? Please share your ideas in the comments below, and feel free to tag a friend from 7 Cups who might like these ideas!
Understanding Misogynoir: The Unique Challenges Black Women Face at the Intersection of Racism and Sexism
Women's Issues / by Mya000
Last post
November 6th
...See more Misogynoir, a term coined by Black feminist Moya Bailey, captures the specific, often-overlooked discrimination faced by Black women due to the intersection of both racism and sexism. This dual oppression creates a distinct experience for Black women, setting it apart from that of other women of color and Black men. Misogynoir reflects how negative attitudes and actions toward Black women are deeply influenced by both their race and gender, compounding into unique forms of discrimination. ------------------------- The Impact of Misogynoir in Society Media Representation The media often portrays Black women in hypersexualized or stereotypical roles, fueling harmful narratives that dehumanize and misrepresent Black womanhood. A recent study looked back over 400 years, showing how media depictions of Black women have been exploited to reinforce white supremacy and negative stereotypes. Healthcare Disparities Black women face systemic biases in healthcare, impacting their treatment and health outcomes. They are often not taken seriously when reporting pain, resulting in delayed or inadequate care, which can lead to serious health risks. Workplace Barriers At work, Black women experience unique challenges linked to both racism and sexism. Studies reveal that they are often perceived as less competent, and even when they hold leadership positions, they may face tokenism and excessive scrutiny. Violence and Abuse Misogynoir contributes to higher rates of violence and abuse against Black women, including domestic and sexual violence. These disparities are worsened by systemic racism, which often neglects their experiences and needs. Educational Bias In schools, Black girls frequently experience adultification bias, where they are perceived as older and less innocent than their peers. This bias can lead to disproportionately harsh disciplinary actions that impact their educational journey. ------------------------- Why Recognizing Misogynoir is Important Understanding misogynoir is essential in recognizing the unique barriers Black women face, shedding light on how race and gender intersect to shape their experiences. Recognizing these challenges is crucial to building an inclusive feminism that addresses the specific needs of Black women. By acknowledging misogynoir, we can work towards dismantling systemic barriers, amplifying Black women's voices, and promoting equitable treatment across all sectors. ------------------------- Moving Forward with Awareness and Solidarity Addressing misogynoir requires a conscious effort to challenge and change the systems that perpetuate these inequities. Through increased awareness and fostering solidarity, we can create spaces that respect and elevate Black women's voices and experiences. Understanding misogynoir is an essential part of building a truly inclusive movement for justice—one that champions equality by recognizing and addressing the unique, intersecting barriers Black women face.
