1) Introduction to Content and Marketing at 7 Cups

SoulfullyAButterfly January 24th, 2021

7 Cups currently has separate dedicated teams that focus on both Content and Marketing. This discussion outlines both teams and provides an overview of their current focus.

(A) Content Volunteer Team

The Content Volunteer Team was relaunched and redesigned in 2020 and is led by @SoulfullyAButterfly - more information including an application can be found here

Focus:

The team works to improve site content in the following areas:

(i) Questions and Answers (Q&A Pages): Quality answers are researched and written in light of search engine optimization (SEO) and other best practices to ensure that the community gets verified, valuable information in response to common mental health questions and concerns. These answers are considered “short tasks” as they involve quicker content production.

(ii) Expert Mental Health News and Advice Section: Existing, published articles are reviewed to ensure up-to-date information, quality length, expert verified facts and other important topic categories by editors.

In addition, fresh content is produced for:

(iii) Expert Mental Health News and Advice Section: Alongside fresh content provided by experts, the team works to research and produce relevant fresh content articles that help boost information and awareness related to the categories that 7 Cups offers expertise in. Writers are welcome to collaborate with experts to publish co-authored articles or produce content individually to be published under the 7 Cups Community Account.

(iv) All other Content Needs: The team is ready to tackle and undertake content tasks that may come up as other needs. These content assignments can relate to listener guides, upcoming growth path playlists, improvement and support of online therapy-related information as well as many other possibilities!

(B) Team Lightship

As a revamp to the Social Soldiers Team at 7 Cups, Project Lightship was announced in late 2020 as the current volunteer-led marketing team for 7 Cups on Twitter. It is currently being led by @Rebecca947 and @Isentropic

Focus:

The team intends to eliminate mental health stigma by identifying those who need support as presented by social media (Twitter) based messages. The team not only works on bringing awareness by using and promoting mental health-based content but actively outreaches to potential users in need of a safe haven to invite them to use 7 Cups.

The team currently has one track with a focus on:

(i) Outreaching to 20 people with compassionate messages and support per month

(ii) Generating content and posting 5 posts.

As the team is currently testing only one track, we can expect future opportunities with the growth of Team Lightship! Further information, including an application, can be found here

Other Social Media Platforms for Content:

In the meantime, 7 Cups has official accounts on social media platforms that are run by community admins. Students of this current course as well as the Content Team will prospectively add to these content and content marketing efforts!

I was a part of the Social Soldiers team for about two months before they stopped that project. I would be intersted in this aspect as I have some interest in learning about content writing as it pertains to social media.

Hello, I'm interested in creating content to be used on here since I don't want to get new social media accounts.

Thoughts: So I could see myself . since my main motive is to get out of isolation, so I'm allowing myself to drive around on a daily basis, so I could picture myself doing it for longer than the Team Lightship, though that was my decision earier, prior to ever considering this program. So, I think to express some accountability purposes, it would be to really give myself that time and consideration, maybe to try Both.

Decision-making process: I think it would be something social media related. The third one because I'm in isolation. But I'm definitely subscribed to the last one, perhaps the Teen one. I'm not sure what I would have to contribute, but that one is definitely calling my name. So, I think I would choose the third one because it's getting me out of isolation, and I'm already doing the work of healing from my high school experiences through meeting with friends and making small isolated connections for others to see. <3 💓

Both the content and marketing focus at 7 Cups seem fascinating to me, and I am interested in both areas. However, if I had to choose, I would go for the content focus, especially the Q&A section. I'm passionate about writing and research, and I believe the Content Volunteer Team could help me sharpen my writing skills. I have past experience writing answers for the Q&A section, which I greatly enjoyed. Apart from that, I find researching content related to mental health particularly rewarding, as it allows me to produce knowledgeable content. Thus, in addition to the Q&A pages, I could contribute to the Expert Mental Health News and Advice Section by editing and evaluating existing articles to ensure they are updated and of high quality.

@SoulfullyAButterfly I’m especially interested in A, cause I would like to focus on SEO and data analysis in marketing.

@SoulfullyAButterfly I would be interested in (A) The Content Volunteer Team because I enjoy researching, writing, proofreading, and editing. I like things that are creative and intellectually enriching. I have a brief experience in content writing, albeit in other niches. I am sure this program will help me hone my writing skills and pitching styles. I would love to leverage my skills to make a positive impact in my readers' lives, and meaningfully at that. I have never been a fan of social media per se. I have always liked the text and the print.

I am most interested in the Q&A, as that is something I was involved in way back in the day.  I really enjoyed responding to the questions.  I feel like time is a factor, and this would be where I have the most ability to help with the least time commitment based on what I'm already committed to.

@SoulfullyAButterfly What interests me the most is the educational content, awareness campaigns, user engagement initiatives, partnerships and collaborations, and community building.

Well, I don't know if I can choose both, but to be honest I can't choose between them, The (B) Team Lightship is something I can do well in because I'm active on that platform and already have experience. Plus, promoting apps and encouraging more members to join is my thing. But (A) Content Volunteer Team sounds great too because I love editing, creating articles, and producing new content—it’s been a dream of mine. Honestly, both interest me equally, but I'll be happy with whichever position I get.

@SoulfullyAButterfly

I would like to be in content volunteer team because i wish to answer all the questions as well as create awareness related mental health problems. It will also help in increasing my knowledge in the field as well.
