Bio
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my profile! My name is Quincy, and I am a trained listener, counselor, and founder and Executive Director of a 501c3 nonprofit mental health organization known as National Alliance for a Mental Health & Substance Abuse Recvery (NAMHSAR). We offer a wide variety of mental health and substance abuse recovery resources to those in need and specialize in providing services to those who are uninsured, underinsured, and/or reside close to the poverty line. I have several certifications including 4 in suicide prevention, psychological first aid (with an emphasis on treating those experiencing traumatic related experiences), integrative mental health, adolescent trauma and substance abuse, skills for psychological recovery, TeleMental health, and providing a safe and welcoming environment for traumatized LGBTQ youth. I also offer pastoral counseling and am currently a doctoral candidate for a PhD specializing in Transpersonal counseling as well as a PhD specializing in Comparative Religion. I don't identify as any one religion, however, I recognize the importance of Faith to some and the benefactors it can have in aiding one in their recovery. So, when utilizing pastoral counseling, I modify it so that it is aligned with the belief system of the person I am speaking with. Psychology and philosophy are my passions and I believe my purpose lies in helping those who deal with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. For the past 4 years I have been a member of the US Medical Reserve Corps, which is under DHS and FEMA, where I serve as a medical incident responder, crisis intervention counselor, and case worker. In my spare time, I like to read and study any thing psychology or philosophy related. I am a 29 y/o male from Houston, Texas. I enjoy reading, pets, nature, and playing pool, even though your 7 year old sister is likely better than me!
