Bio
I am Alice, and here to listen. Nothing in my biological, psychological, and anthropological coursework alone qualifies me to talk to you. What qualifies me is my experience in the areas of expertise, both personal and professional. Among those I have counseled in my time employed at an inpatient treatment facility: victims of abuse and trauma, those who have been through the prison system or constructed prisons of themselves in drug and alcohol abuse. Years of employment in healthcare and clinical exposure interacting with patients + volunteering, paying visits to those with prognosis <6 mo. Leaving behind a small town in NJ, full of people and friends fraught with depression and the use of self-medication for the big city and a BA did not allow me to forget what I left behind. I am interested in understanding behavior from both a biological and sociological perspective, but at forefront is desire to be there for others going through what I have been through, or what I know how to help through.
