Healthy living helps me climb my beanstalk

...See more I must admit, one of the things I’ve struggled most with in life is stuckness.  By stuckness, I am referring to a complete and total non functioning in life. Unable to work towards my goals, knowing what to do to get better, but just, for some reason, not being able to do it. I was stuck at the bottom of my beanstalk.  So how did I take my first tender step, trying to move up? The step wasn’t to hoist myself to the next leaf on my stalk, no, it was much smaller than that. It was more of a, standing up on the leaf I was already on. And then taking a step towards the stalk, wrapping my arms around it to steady myself. And finally, I could swing my leg to the next leaf and prop myself on another level.  What is this a metaphor for? Each tiny, little movement I make, is a small habit of healthy living. Creating healthy sleep patterns through sleep hygiene, fueling my body with nutritious meals to sustain my energy, taking a short walk outside & breathing in fresh air, doing a stream of consciousness journal entry.  It’s revolutionary how much of an impact these “small” habits can make.  I tell my story as an offering of encouragement. It didn’t happen overnight- it took time. Each of these self care behaviors created a new way of living which supports my physical, mental, emotional & spiritual health.  It feels pretty nice to be up in the air, birds eye view from my beanstalk.  QUESTIONS: What kinds of healthy living habits help you to stand up on your leaf? How is the view from your present beanstalk stalk leaf?  Or, alternatively, if you’re at the bottom of your beanstalk, what one healthy habit would you like to try today?

Weight Loss Goal

...See more Hello everyone! I have a goal to lose 18 lbs. by May 31st, 2023. This is when the warm weather will be coming, and it is near summer. I will reach 160 lbs. if I meet this goal. This is in 9 weeks. It will be a loss of 2 lbs. a week to meet. I will eat small meals, in order to meet this goal, and engage in light exercise. Does anyone else have a weight loss goal? Understanding Emotional Numbness

...See more Many of us often deal with or experience emotional numbness, which might not be the best practice for good mental health. Emotional numbness is a coping mechanism where we don't confront our emotions and try to shut down and neglect the feelings that make us overwhelmed. It can be considered normal when it is short-lived, but it can become a pretty unhealthy thing to do in the long run. Restricting ourselves from feeling and confronting the emotions we feel at the moment can add up to and lead us to not function properly and can hinder our ability to feel genuine and true. To have good mental health is to be emotionally healed, which can happen when we start acknowledging our emotions without shutting them or neglecting them. https://yourmentalhealthpal.com/what-is-emotional-numbness/

...See more @MusicCandy Hi! I decided it was easier to just start a new thread. I can't figure out the old one. I am headed to my mom's tomorrow until Sunday night. Today is the fifth anniversary of dad's death. I couldn't get up there today, so it's the first time I won't be with her on the actual day. I won't be on here this weekend, so I'm writing this on Wednesday. Yesterday I made my first trip to the mountains in a long time. I hiked to Mary's Rock. It was not crowded and was great weather. It was kind of funny hiking in a t-shirt with snow on the ground! Today we are celebrating my DIL's birthday. The actual day is Saturday but I'll be at mom's. I am going to make the Korean dessert that I made for New Year's, since their dog ate all the leftovers and she didn't get to try much of it. Then I have some cleaning to do, and some errands to run, and then pick her up 45 min away because my son is here at work near our house. I'm going early enough to drop by my other son's house first to meet his new dog. He and his fiancee are adopting a 2 year old. I need to do laundry to prepare for my trip, and need to write detailed instructions for my pet sitters. I have an old note to work from, but I have a new lady coming one day and I need to make it extra-detailed for her. She is a pet sitting company, so it will cost me, but I need another person in my rotation of feeders. So it's a busy day today! I am grateful for my spring break this week that allows me to do all these things. I spent the weekend doing very little because I knew the rest of the week would be very busy! I don't like getting home the evening before I have to go back to work, since I won't get laundry, shopping, or cooking done, but it couldn't be helped! I hope the new thread works out, and that I tagged you correctly so you will see it! I hope your week has gone well, and here's to five more years of messages to come!

Cravings can be one of the biggest hurdles in weight management, but with a few smart swaps, you can satisfy your taste buds without derailing your progress. Here’s how you can replace those common cravings: * Salty: Instead of chips, try air-popped popcorn with a sprinkle of nutritional yeast or lightly salted almonds. Another great option is cucumber slices with a dash of sea salt and vinegar. * Sweet: Ditch sugary snacks for fresh fruit, like a bowl of mixed berries or apple slices with a bit of almond butter. Sleep is such an essential activity in our everyday life that it can immensely affect our brain functions. The importance of undisturbed sleep has been discussed repeatedly to imply its significance on our mental health. Many reasons, including stress, overthinking, distractions, and many other things, can lead us to sleep poorly. But having a good night's sleep can have such a positive impact on our bodies and minds. Heart problems at almost 18?

...See more I am kind of worried, I had to go to the cardiologist last week and now have a heart monitor for a month, i have had blackout spells since 4th grade, no one can figure out why or what it is, first it was ocular migraines, then it was neurological, now its heart related, theres no rhyme to reason, it can happen anywhere or anytime, if im sitting, standing, working out, sometimes i go months without one, sometimes i have at least one a day, i get dizzy anytime i so much as stand up from the toilet, i eat healthy, workout, drink 80+ oz of water a day, take vitamins, i just dont know what else i can do, and im frustrated cause my drs go months inbetween appointments, have made me go almost 2 months without my ADHD meds to which the cardiologist said there was no reason to, never got me in for the MRI they said they wanted  im just frustrated
