As negative and as cynical as I will probably sound, hugs are a physical gesture, not something that can be imitated over the screen of a computer. I say this because ''sending free hugs'' is equivalent to ''liking'' a picture or ''sending a kiss'', the meaning is different to each notion but there is no sense of genuine compassion or sincerity. I would not go so far to say it causes any harm but, it definitely does not solve a problem or the issue of wanting a hug. False forms of physical gestures can to a degree be more degrading than bring tranquillity and serenity.Of course not everyone is affected by this however, be cautious as people are fragile beings.
@SweetMango111. I would have to disagree, for someone like me who doesn't get anyone in real life to hug, except my kids, I am grateful and feel people given them are sincere, I an sorry you feel that way, but for alot of us here,even some us married, we miss that feeling and having someone who is kind enough to listen and give "virtual hugs" can make a difference, especially when someone is depressed and feeling worthless. Like I feel 90% of the time.
