TIPS FOR NEWBIES ON HOW TO USE 7CUPS - links to all the main things to do here
Here are links to all the main things you can do here at 7Cups...
1) Chat one-to-one with a Listener: by either...
a) get on general request list and chat with whoever picks you
or
b) find Listener you search for here https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/ who is online now and chat...
or send them a message and ask if they will schedule a chat when you are both available
or Chat in a chatroom with multiple people https://www.7cups.com/connect/groupChatrooms.php
or Chat in a chatroom at a pre-scheduled chat session (by finding the schedule on the calendar page
https://www.7cups.com/home/communityCalendar.php or schedules in subcommunity listings)
2) post a thread to a forum sub-community (like you already did)
or reply to other people threads
3) subscribe to a forum sub-community so you know when new things are posted
4) search forum sub-communities for topics or resources you are interested in for your own development... search by browsing through sub-communities or use the forum search box https://www.7cups.com/forum/search.php?searchForum=
(always click the "+ Read More" expansion link in a sub-community to see hidden overview information about that sub-community)
5) use Noni as explained at the bottom of my bio page https://www.7cups.com/@7motivation
for learning Self-Care, Setting Goals, Setting Reminders.
6) use the growth path tool https://www.7cups.com/path/

11) get unstuck using ideas on my profile page https://www.7cups.com/@7motivation
12) see questions others already asked (besides in the forum sub-communities)
or ask your own questions https://www.7cups.com/qa/ (but I like asking questions in forum sub-communities better that using that link)
13) read resources on the wiki pages https://www.7cups.com/wiki/
14) get on "check-in" message lists and get regular check-in questions from the forum support team to see how you are doing and share your feelings with others to feel part of a community
15) get crisis help external resources https://help.7cups.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026238093-Crisis
Please forgive any typos above.
@7motivation
great resources. thank you!
Hello! I'm a new listener and I was wondering if we could access the listener platform on the App as well? Thanks!
@floatingsnowflakes Yes you can! Just sign out of your member account and sign in again when logging into the app. Or if signed into your listener account it should be seamless, just download the app and then sign in on your listener account.
@MistyMagic Thank you so much! Another Listener helped me with it earlier through the group chat and I didn't get around to updating so on here.
Your response will be helpful to many new listeners who will be joining and perhaps may wonder about the same thing. Thank you! :)
New member: what if we need advice and post to a forum in a community, but we get no responses? I know it says no double-posting, but what if you posted in the wrong community, whereas another community might have been more appropriate?
@intellectualSquare829 You can ask a forum mentor to move it for you (or I can do it too, but you cannot message me, you would have to say so in the forums).
It's also ok to seek support in multiple communtities with similar posts, especially if some time has passed after posting the first one.
@Mel - are there any updates to this? I think this rule was made before subcommunities were a thing, I wonder if we need an update under the clarification, as some things like welcome posts are fairly common to have similar things across communities.
@7motivation Thank you so much for posting this!
@7motivation Thank you for this!!

How do we private message someone?
@Eltona You can only message adult listeners. If you click there name to go to their profile you can either send a message if their status is offline or busy. If they are online chat now appears, clicking that will send them a personal request to chat.
