It gets really dark along the way but it is also a very well made show and touches on so many important topics and issues that teens and young adults face today.

I am watching the old Shogun tv series from 1980, with Chamberlain. Looks old, but the Japanese culture of that era is so fascinating.
@tommy A friend told me about "Loudermilk." It came out five years ago but I never heard about it. It's on Amazon but I watched some episodes on YouTube. It's a drama/dark comedy. The subject matter may be very difficult for some people to watch because the main character leads an AA-type group and their lives are very messy. The main character is played by Ron Livingston.
