Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Wednesday 28th February 2018
Good day loves!
Sorry for the late post ^^|||
Today I'm going to address something that means a lot to our community: not pouring out of an empty cup.
When we try to give when we have nothing, we won't be able to give to our fullest potential and we even risk becoming empty, tired, and eventually breaking down. So the question is, how do we refill our cups?
My go to for that question is rest, rest, rest. I burn incense, take a hot bath, take time away from work or other people, and do my best to just make time for myself. So the questions of the day are:
1. What drains your cup?
2. What fills your cup?
3. How has your day been going?
I hope everyone is having a pleasant day! I can't wait to hear from you all!
@TheHoneyDoll
1. My family, not eating, not sleeping enough
2. My friends, my boyfriend, surprise! school because it gives me something to do
3. My day has been mostly good
@FangsInsanity
Hi Fang, yes "family" can be extremely draining, as family relationships can be complicated. Not getting enough sleep or food can leave you feeling emotionally/ physically drained. It's nice to hear that your friends, boyfriend and school fills your cup.
There
@TheHoneyDoll Hi It's Teresa and I'm checking in because I noticed to join this group for my internship program though I usually working with self-harm recovery support😅 I do listen to members who are suffering from serious trauma for my daily lives, so I do hope I can be some help for people in here💕
I myself is a crime survivor and watching the news about similar crime is energy-draining for me. I do fill my cup with listening to music and doing some mindfulness exercises. I think my day is going pretty well now.
Hope you all would have a great day💕
@TeresaGreninja91
Hi Teresa, Welcome to the trauma family, it's a pleasure to have you on board . You mentioned that you are a crime survivor, I can appreciate how difficult it must be for you to watch news reports. For many survivors of crime/trauma, media can be quite triggering, so I can see how this can be draining.
Listening to music is a good way to fill your cup, as well as mindfulness exercises. I hope you have a lovey weekend.
1. What drains your cup? Negative, writers block
2. What fills your cup? Positive vibes, encouragement, writing, music
3. How has your day been going? Really well I got to vent to someone who understands
@Rebekahwriter13
Hi Rebekah 💗 yes negativity can be draining, I remember an old friend of mine who was nicknamed by her sister as "the joy thief". I would have a really good day, but after speaking to her would feel slightly discouraged 😕.
In terms of Writers block I read in a magazine that when writers put their pens down, and switch their " Writer's mind" off. Through day to day events and conversations, scenarios start to build and form in the mind. I don't know if this is true!
Positive vibes, writing, and music are all good ways to fill your cup, and glad you were able to vent today. Just being able to vent can help to fill our cups, because pent up emotions are released.
