3 Key Things!

GlenM November 18th, 2019

Please post here 3 key things you have done to help move 7 Cups forward. I will be doing this on a daily basis. Feel free to do it daily, weekly, or monthly. Right now we've got thousands of people doing a lot of work on the site, but we don't have a clear way of being able to support one another. The goal of this thread is to help all of us see all the good work that is going on. Please ask any questions or share thoughts!

@GlenM

1 - Familiarized myself with the vast amount of content on 7 Cups (and reveling in it!) - this will make me better at refering users to resources

2 - Started taking chats again after a hiatus due to the semester

3 - Highly considering taking a sponsee for long-term listening

@scarletPear1945

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Just feeling exhausted and yea, sometimes it does trigger anxiety/worry when like i have nothing to come up with...

Almost like the feeling of a obligation. - You know for example, my phone that has this app that tracks daily inputs... (luckily i turned off reminders)

My 3 key things for this week:

(1) Led a discussion for the anxiety community's holiday event.

(2) Conducted 3 mock chats for listeners who have applied to become verified.

(3) Learned that I passed the application to become a group mod 🎉 🎊 (Just waiting for training!)

@MrsAshleyMarie that's so great! Good job.😍

Also, could you tell me how to conduct mock chats for to-be-listeners? I would love to contribute to that too!

@TheOneWhoDreams Hello! 🙂 Before you can conduct mock chats you will need to become a Verified Listener. Becoming verified as a listener involves meeting certain criteria and then completing a mock chat with someone on the Verified Listener Team!

Here is a link to view a list of the requirements that you will need to meet before submitting an application for a mock chat: https://www.7cups.com/forum/ListenerLearningJourney_149/VerifiedListenersProject_1839/IWanttobeaVerifiedListener_46935/1/

And here is the link to the application which you can fill out and submit after you have met the criteria: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1xVRwAc-afFGsFOp4pkJ06FzCig6CW4s4FLzJxpMcALY/viewform?edit_requested=true

Becoming a verified listener will allow you to obtain different roles within our community, including becoming a verifier on our Verified Listener Team! Please feel welcome to reach out to me if you have any questions! Happy new year! 🎊

@MrsAshleyMarie

I think I know what you meant but at first blush it looked a bit confusing. Great job for giving these links for others because they can be hard for people to find.

Once becoming a verified listener, this does not mean that we are allowed to conduct mock chats with other listeners. To become a verified listener, we set up an appt. with a verifier that is the one that conducts the mock chat for us. They will then determine through that mock chat if we pass or fail and also give us constructive feedback on how to improve either way.

My understanding is that the only people allowed to conduct mock chats on this site are verifiers (not verified listeners) or mentors in an effort to help you if you are having trouble or to get you ready for your appt. to become verified. smiley

@SparkyGizmo Hi Sparky. You are correct, only members of the Verified Listener Team (aka verifiers) can conduct mock chats. I myself am on the team and conduct mock chats for listeners who have applied to beomce verified. Becoming a verified listener is a step a listener will need to take if they want to join the Verified Listener team and start conducting mock chats for listeners whom have applied. My intention was to help this listener through their application to become a verified listener and then inform them of the next steps to take if they are interested in joining our team. Thank you for helping to clear up any confusion. Prehaps I should have noted that you don't automaticlly join the Verified Listener Team once becoming a verified listener. You will need to meet a certian list of criteria, attend training, and submit an application. Thanks again! And Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you as well! heart Thank you for taking the time to verify the rest of us! I can only imagine the time you have invested to become a verifier as well as the day to day scheduling and the time you contribute here to help us all through this process! smiley

@SparkyGizmo correct got to be on the team to do verifications however we do not tell them pass or fail graders do that verifiers only give feedback they cannot tell a listener they failed or passed
