An Experiment In Gratitude - Dare You To Try It!
I'd like to share with you all a video that I really love. It's an experiment in gratitude! Check out the video here.
Did you know that gratitude is scientifically proven to increase your levels of warm, fuzzy happiness? π That's why we have exercises in gratitude built into the Growth Path on 7 Cups! Members, you can access your Growth Path here.
It would be really cool if we could try out our own 7 Cups version of the experiment in the video and experience some of the goodness for ourselves. This is my challenge to you!
Here's how you can join in:
β Who is your special person? Think of someone who has had a positive influence in your life. It might be a friend, relative, teacher, health care professional, or even someone on 7 Cups! You can share who it is below in this thread.
β What would you say to them? Write them a letter. Again, you can post it here in the forum if you'd like to share. We'd love to see!
β Do it! If it's possible to do so, send them the letter! You could post it, mail it, or phone them and read it out, just like in the video.
β Post here to let us know how it goes! What was their response? How did it make you feel?
BE BRAVE - I dare you!
Post below to let me know if you're joining in!
My special person is my friend is joey, and im falling in love with him
I would have to say that I'm grateful to all the people who pop into my life who have a fearless approach to celebrating and leveraging their own unique style and drive. I also march to the beat of a different drummer and doing so is not always understood nor kindly received.
I'm particularly grateful to my friend Lindy who has shown great trust in our friendship by sharing with me some of her most sensitive personal information - this opens the door for me to do the same, which I have done and will continue to do. She wrote me one of the most beautiful letters I have received in my life when I was in the middle of moving a great distance away. In it she detailed all the many ways she appreciates our friendship. This letter is like a warm breeze on a cold day.
Matter of fact I should read it again now!
@HappyJoy Love the sketch
I must say, this is an amazing idea. So what I'm writing here, I will most definitely tell that person... Once I gather up the courage. In fact, there are a whole bunch of people that I feel incredibly thankful to.
But first and foremost... I must thank Matthew, a new found friend of mine, who lives far away, but nonetheless, he has dragged me out of some of my worst moments. He is the most honest and sincere person I've met, and even if the truth is harsh, he says it, and in the end it makes things better. He is incredibly patient and compassionate. Hard-working and optimistic. With the sort of hardships he faces... His optimism is like a lighthouse in the storm. His inner light is brighter than that, even. Also, he is extremely intelligent, whatever he says is most of the time thoroughly thought through. He's the sort of person who listens to you, and gets to know as much as possible before saying anything. And I'm so thankful for all the times when he just suddenly appeared when I most needed someone, saw through that and helped me immensely. And to some extent, I believe this person has saved my soul from dying. I don't know if I can ever repay that...
I am grateful that I have my sisters to correct me when I'm wrong and they never gave up on me even when I've been mean to them and only thought about myself but I promise I will try my hardest to not just only think about my problem but to also put myself into your shoes. I wish I could have the strength to tell everyone of my sisters how grateful I am but I can't because I feel that I still haven't accept my mistakes yet.
@JeanaGriz24 It sounds like you have great sisters. I hope you are able to tell them how grateful you are for them some day when you feel ready :)
I am grateful to have a job that pays enough money to support my family
I love this! Truly amazing.
I look back at life and I am so grateful to the people who gave me a chance. I wish that they were around to tell them.
I am so grateful to have a dog. She's my best friend. She listens without judging and accepts me for who I am.
@braveKitten4951 ... Yes. Yes! YES! I wish my dog could read 7cupsoftea shout outs cuz his name is all over! I love you my Buddy. Dogs are just plain amazing!
I am grateful for my job. I work in a preschool with 11 3-5 year olds. They are wonderful and show me how to live life to the fullest. They don't know it, but they help show me the beautiful things in life, even on some of my darkest days. I will never be able to thank them for what they have done for me.
