The flawless security system on 7 Cups
Hello everyone!
It's known that 7 Cups isn't perfect, there are points that need improvement. One of the points that seems to be most importantly flawed is the security system. Harassers, bullies, they seem to be reported over and over again, and they always come back. And they bypass the bans like the system doesn't even exist.
I know. I know. It does seem that way.
But what many people overlook is that there is a system that protects you from trolls at 100%.
Everyone has a personal Mute/Report button in the chatrooms and a personal Block button in 1-on-1. No one can ever take that away from you. Maybe they won't protect everyone fro the bullies and the harassers. But they'll protect YOU and whoever uses them.
So don't block someone just because you don't like them. But if you see someone whom has been reported, banned, and who has come back to make your 7 Cups experience really difficult, and they won't leave, and they make threats, they doxx you, they do whatever they can to hurt you: don't be afraid to use that button. The block button is your best friend. And then get in touch with a friend whom you can talk to about it.
But Blaze, they spread rumors!
I know it's rough, but those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. Your friends will believe you. You'll see, with time, this is the truth. And it also helps if no one spreads the rumours. You, yes you can help stop them by refraining from gossiping. There's more to life than rumours.
But Blaze, that doesn't keep them away forever! The system still isn't fixed, they still get no punishment!
I know it doesn't ban them, but it keeps them away from you. If you want to protect your friends, share this with them as well.
I'd like to end with a story you can read here. Please come back to this post after you're done.
...Done? Perfect.
Yes, there's a lot of negativity, yes there's a lot of things on 7 Cups that can be upsetting. But right here right now, you can macke a choice. I won't ask you to ignore what's wrong. I want you to choose which wolf you're going to feed.
And do you want the system to change? Do you want to see better listeners, moderators, mentors, leaders? Become one. Be an example others can follow. Show it's possible to make positive change and help people. Change the system from within by helping make 7 Cups a better place. Be a beacon of light. Feed your white wolf, and everyone else's.
Be the change you want to see in the world.

@GodOfWarMars ... thank you
@GodOfWarMars can you please remove me from your mass tag list? thanks
@AiluraBlaze
I agree with everything you said on the chatrooms.
But what about posts or replies on the forums? Today for example I didn't know how to report someone that replied to a thread I did. It was sexual and genuinly innapropriate. But I didn't find a way to report the person? Either that or I'm dumb/blind
@Booklover95 That's a very good question! There's a little flag button next to "Reply".
@AiluraBlaze
Oh thank you :)

Thank you for the amazing post, Blaze. It is so well-worded and simple to understand. I am sure a lot of listeners and members would benefit from it.

I think this is the most important thing we should notice here. I am a huge supporter of the belief that if we want to see a better change, we should start that change ourselves. It is sometimes easier to act based on the emotions we feel at a given time, rather than just use our personal " mute " button and remove ourselves from the situation, before it escalates . Where in life, we do not have that " mute " button, here, on 7 cups, we do. And we have it for a purpose.
Let us all be the example that we want to see, the mod that we want to see in the chatroom, the motivator that we need, the support we want to see from others - change is possible, when we all start from ourselves.

Great post! I love how it brings out the reality that though we cannot control how others act, we can choose how we react to it. Here in 7 cups, I advocate constantly for empowering everyone I meet. We try hard to make the experience here a good one for everyone, but sometimes the power to have good experience here its on each of us <3
@AiluraBlaze
Thanks Blaze :) Unfortunately many members know this but still argue for the sake of entertainment with the bullies and trolls, but its always a good thing to be reminded of.
It's not flawless though...
1) You have to experience the trolling to even know to mute them in the first place. The damage is already done. Multiply that times the number of times they create new accounts, and the amount of times the muting randomly undoes itself for no reason, and you've got fear. Fear that you will run into these same people over and over again and the only thing you're being told by the ones in charge is to shut up and press mute, over and over again.
2) Other people will continue talking to/ about the troll after you mute, particularly within the first several minutes, so it's kinda pointless. It's not a case of "I can't see you so therefore you stop existing entirely".
3) There's nothing you can do in the forums! Oops! No mute or block feature whatsoever! But ya know. Other things are obviously so much more important, I guess?
@Phthalo I hear you and I'll reply according to my experience. Please know that I'm not an Admin, nor an Ambassador, nor a Forum Mentor, as of today.
Damage is already done before the harassing behaviour can be confirmed as such. I'm not saying this is normal, nor that I'm ok with it. I'm stating a fact. I know the fear you talk about, I've been there before. I've been doxxed too, although not on 7 Cups. So I'm not saying this out of nowhere. I'm not saying the system doesn't need to be improved, but saying that while things don't improve, there are devices that help everyone stay safer. And they're not used by a lot of people.
Yes, people talking about what happens is a problem and it will continue to be a problem. One way to make it a smaller problem is to do the sensible thing and not perpetuate the rumours and comments. Another way is to divert the conversation by talking about something more interesting. What harassers want, most often, is to be talked about and feel the have power over people. If people don't talk about them, they lose power. People need to know this.
