Welcome back, crew! We've discussed leading yourself and others. Let's talk about leading ÃÂ within the community!
A car is a ÃÂ system that has different levels of components. Each component is a system in itself like engine, accelerator, gears, clutch, tires, seats, front deck, mirrors, and so on. Each of these components is also a system too. But when they are integrated into one big system, it comprises the bigger picture as a car which facilitates movement from one place to another. ÃÂ
Similarly, 7Cups is a system. A system of small systems that have their own defined set of goals but contributing towards a bigger goal (community goal).
When you are a lead of a project, you are not just leading your own project but also within the community as well. Examples: Verified Listener Program, Active Listening Tests, Listener Coaching, Quality Mentor, Listener Support Chat Rooms, and so on are individual projects that contribute to supporting a user to become a better listener to support the member they listen to and the community at large. Everyone is functioning as an integral part of the system. ÃÂ
To ensure the smooth operation of your system and the whole system, you need to collaborate with other community and project leaders to problem solve and be well synced. ÃÂ
Everything is interlinked and interconnected. You are part of the community and leading within the community. And, when everyone collectively gathers together to achieve one purpose, we are cultivating a sense of community solidarity.
Exercise:
1. ÃÂ Give an example of how you are part of this community and how are you contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community. ÃÂ
2. Please reply to 3 of your peers in the thread!
After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please proceed to the end of Course 4!ÃÂ
This post is brought to you by the Leadership Development Program Team, find out more information about the program here.
1. Give an example of how you are part of this community and how are you contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community.
I am part of this community in the ways I need its support and very much want to see it thrive.
I contribute individually by supporting members through 1:1 chats and replying to forums.
As a team, I am a forum supporter for a couple of different communities and I contribute certain things like posts for example, on a schedule, to make sure we have the resources needed to create interest and the momentum going.
Within the community, I continue to learn and grow by attending trainings that are offered and available to me. That way I can learn the skills to be able to contribute and help keep this community safe, supportive, healthy, and to continue growing.
@FlourishingDimensions
Thank you so much for sharing how you help our community become a better place. I am very grateful for all our members and listeners here. :)

1. Give an example of how you are part of this community and how are you contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community.
I am a part of this community because I always follow all the rules and support as many people as I can. I respect everybody's beliefs and if I didn't understand them I would try my best to do so and I would put myself in their shoes in order to get a better picture of the situation. I schedule appointments so I can make sure that I am devoting my time to no more than two members at the time. I am really grateful for everything that I get to do in 7 Cups. I am also a community moderator so I get to support people in groups and make sure that rules are also being followed.
I did give this answer in course 2 but I feel it also fits well here.
I'm loving giving my support to others, contributing to the rooms. In fact, because I am 49 I kinda feel like I do have a mothering hen role for the younger ones supporting them.
I have also stepped in to help support new members, welcoming them, and explaining the room when Mods are busy. Also trying to hold the peace in the room.
I'm currently trying to plan a weekly thread for healing in one of the sub-communities.

I am contributing to the community by being a good listener and making sure each member is heard and supported during our 1 on 1 chats. As a team, I am helping other members feel welcomed when they enter the group support chats! I always make sure to say hello to them and ask how they are!

@Heather225
Currently I serve as a Peer Supporter, Forum Supporter, and Room Supporter as well as being apart of the Care Team + Outreach Team. I firmly believe that in whatever role I am at one moment it is important all our members/listeners feel supported and cared for. It may be something as simple as welcoming a new community member, or to the other extreme it could be supporting a listener after a rough chat. We all come from different lives so I always keep an open mind to things and to support others no matter what.

▪︎ Give an example of how you are part of this community and how you are contributing as an individual, as a team, and within the community.
~ I am part of the community as an active listener and a leader.
As an individual and first of all as a listener on 7cups, I try my best to help and support members, offer long term support, help them however and whenever I can and just be there for them, providing a listening ear. I support fellow listeners and peers and encourage and support them to the best of my capability.
Within the community, as a leader in group support setting, I offer support in chat rooms by providing a safe and inclusive environment to the members, use active listening skills and foster healthy conversations. Also, help fellow listeners navigate around the site by answering basic questions in the Listener support room and offer support as a trained peer support and chat room supporter.
@unique73 you're an important part of the work we do here B)
@Heather225
I am a verified listener and have completed all the available training guides available. I'm also a discussion leader and a forum supporter. I give back to the community everyday :)
@milkoreos that's great!
@milkoreos
Great job! Keep up your good work 😊
I am contributing as a listener that supports individuals 1-1 and as a forum supporter that primarily replies to member threads to provide support. I participate in various programs that help increase the quality of support I can provide. These are part of systems that help create a supportive place for the members.
@sereneButton43
very true... All the items you mentioned are required to support members better.
@sereneButton43
that's a great mindset to have. your presence is vital to the growth of 7cups.
