Good job for pointing out how passive aggression does not help the situation at all, and could in fact make things worse for everyone. Thank you for sharing!

@Heather225

What are the 5 signs of passive-aggressive communication?
Silent treatment - Not communicating,
Subtle Insults - Intentional indirect insults
Procrastinating on purpose - Display of power over operations
Sabotage - Causing problems for a person on purpose
Keeping Score of favors - Doing a favor with selfish gains in mind

What is one example of passive-aggressive behavior you have experienced in your life?
I have been at the receiving end of Silent Treatment and I won't lie I was a part of it too. But over time I have come to realize it doesn't really pay off. I have learned the importance of communication for conflict resolution.

Why is passive aggression so damaging to our community?
It is highly damaging to the 7Cups community because we cannot afford to bring in any gaps in communication among the leaders, listeners, and all.
Insults are bound to degrade the performance. Sabotaging helps in contributing to the formation of members with ill feelings.

@wishfulMoment42

It's awesome to know that you've learned how the silent treatment doesn't help the situation. You're also absolutely right that insults and sabotage really hurt the community as a whole. When members don't get the support they need, or when listeners end up hurting each other due to passive aggression, it brings everyone down. Thank you for sharing!

What are the 5 signs of passive-aggressive communication?

1. Silent treatment

2. Subtle insult

3. Procrastinating on purpose

4. Sabotage

5. Keeping score

What is one example of passive-aggressive behavior you have experienced in your life?

I have had a couple of friends who would randomly stop speaking to me. I didn't understand why they were doing that, and it was really hurtful. The worst part was when our mutual friends would tell me that it was normal and to just let her be, which made me feel like I had somehow been overeracting.

Why is passive aggression so damaging to our community?

Passive aggression fosters confusion and hurt, expecially if no reasons are given. I see this happening when members report that listeners have been disappearing during chats, often blocking members so they cannot be contacted. Having just shared some very personal things to seek peer support, members are always distraught and feel cheated, especially if they had just left a good review for the listener. Some of them stop trusting listeners because they feel that listeners are simply taking advantage of them for reviews. This really hurts our community as members don't get the help they're here for, and are discouraged from seeking help in future.

•Silent Treatment
•Subtle Insults
•Procrastinating on Purpose

What is one example of passive-aggressive behavior you have experienced in your life?
I've personally used silent treatment when something upsets me, not always found it bad but often the silence gets misinterpreted by others and results in an escalation of the matter

Why is passive aggression so damaging to our community?
Passive aggression could result in lesser understanding as not everyone would pick on it and it could erode trust in the community

What is one example of passive-aggressive behavior you have experienced in your life?

I have experienced the keeping score one; there have been people in my life who have always reminded me of each favours they have done for me, in order to make me feel like I owe them a lot.

Why is passive aggression so damaging to our community?

Passive-aggressive treatment is damaging because people can get easily hurt by it, which would lead into a decrease in their self-esteem, which would have a direct impact on their performance and on their personal path to improvement.

Keeping score.

Why is passive aggression so damaging to our community?

It is damaging to our community because it creates an environment that is hostile, and tense. Passive aggressive behavior can cause so much confusion for everyone. If this happens with responses in forums or chat, it creates a negative environment for all those present.
