The positivity of having a growth mindset

AnnaSilverberg December 13th, 2023

Hay everyone!

I’m so lucky to be taking part in this amazing IDG Course.

I have not only learned a lot from it, but I have also learned things about myself whilst going through it.
The thing I want to talk about today is the beauty of having a Learning mindset and openness.

‘Having a basic mindset of curiosity and a willingness to be vulnerable and embrace change and grow.’ In order to achieve this, it's important that your self of self is not based on identifying with a certain set of beliefs as that can hold back your curiosity.

The thing about me is that I’ve always been willing to learn, to know more, to embrace all changes that come my way and to look at every feedback I get as an opportunity to learn.

Because that’s what feedback is, it’s someone sharing what you can improve on, learn better or even feel more confident in your abilities.

And if we make mistakes, do not look at them as failures, but rather an opportunity for growth.
There is an amazing Forum post on How to Cultivate a Growth Mindset to Increase Overall Well-being, I do recommend reading it, it’s very informative and helpful.

I consider myself to do my best to learn from my mistakes to make sure I don’t repeat them and to have role models in my life who are kind, caring, supportive and all that I aspire to be.
Having a role model in our life, or being surrounded by people that lift you up, encourage you and teach you things that you perhaps didn’t know about before is absolutely amazing.

Cultivating a new mindset takes time and effort, and I believe that that is something I’ve continuously done over the years.
Learning is a gift we can give ourselves freely, no matter how long it takes or how challenging it is, this gift is always a wonderful present to ourselves.

So, how do we change to a growth mindset?
For me, it was positive thinking that has helped me get my growth mindset, but that does not mean that you need to use it for you to attain this growth mindset as well.
I find that positivity expands my growth mindset, that’s for sure.

How do we accept feedback?
I’ve found it helpful to make sure that I am open to the feedback I’m given and to know that this is my opportunity to grow and learn, growing and learning is something that will always get me far, perhaps it can help you too.

All in all, having a growth mindset is a beautiful thing that helps us expand our knowledge and improve ourselves to become better.

I wish you all a wonderful rest of your day🤗

@AnnaSilverberg I absolutely enjoyed reading your post. And I couldn't agree more-- having a desire to learn and grow and possessing a positive growth mindset really is a beautiful thing. Having a thirst for knowledge and looking at constructive feedback and taking it as an opportunity to learn even more is a great quality to have. ♡ To learn requires having an open mind and requires us to be receptive about any and all things surrounding us. I also believe it requires us not taking things at face value. You are such a beautiful, intellectual, and wonderful person, Anna. I hope you never lose this quality about you and continue to be the very best version of you. ♡

💕 Thank you, H! 💕
That's very kind of you to say!
🤗 I think that power can be found in vulnerability,
that it's rather a sign of strength than weakness. 🤗
⭐ We are all capable of growing and learning,
we just have to give ourselves the option of being open to it

Growth mindset needs to be talked about a lot more and I love this topic choice!

I agree some level of positive thinking is needed to cultivate a growth mindset.

I think something we need to keep in mind is that receiving feedback gets easier with time, it is a skill in many ways.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts so eloquently.  I love reading posts from you because that always make me think.

i Agree with most of what you shared here which doesn’t surprise me based on our similarities.

the one thing that stuck out to me in your post is about positive thinking leading to a growth mindset.  I tend to be the cheerleader and positive thinker in my world.  And I never thought about the values of being the positive thinker.  Positive thinking leading to a growth mindset is certainly a benefit of positive thinking!

@AnnaSilverberg

So, how do we change to a growth mindset?
By using 'I' statements and by flipping our negative thoughts to new, more positive ones, that encourage us to become better versions of ourselves rather than stuck on autopilot and the same cycle all over again.

How do we accept feedback?

By understanding that it is not a personal threat but rather criticism that is encouraging us to become better, do better and improve.

@AnnaSilverberg

📌 How do we change to a growth mindset?
-> Understanding the situation without attaching our emotions can give us a logical approach in life which is needed in most cases to develop a growth mindset in my opinion.

📌How do we accept feedback?
-> Feedback is an experience. we can not judge it as wrong or right. whatever we can do to improve something after a feedback is an optimistic mindset and we should not have a destructive attitude about it.
