Hello wonderful people and Happy New Year! I have an app called Calm that gives me daily reflection prompts and I would love to hear your stories and perspectives. I will be posting here every morning with the daily reflection prompt and my answer, and anyone is welcome to post their answer to the daily reflection prompt!

Today's reflection prompt is: What areas of your life can you approach with more openness this year?

My answer: My alters; listening to them and nurturing them. Paying attention to my needs and not overworking myself in school to avoid burnout. Forming healthy and secure attachments to friends. Spending lots of time on my hobbies and interests. Generally going with the flow more, not trying to resist so much. Spending time sitting with my feelings instead of immediately trying to push the unpleasant ones away.

I'm looking forward to hearing your answers!

Today's reflection prompt is: What helps you find stability in times of chaos? Why?

My answer: Remembering who I am and how far I've come. Remembering my personality traits and my goals. Using my coping skills and trying to look at the big picture. Writing about my emotions and experiences. Using self-affirmations.

@Fluffysheep8 my faith in God, and my faith in people and kindness, helps me through the choas. Also 7 cups is a great place for me, in times of need ❤

Jeffy. Sometimes all it takes is just playing music and holding him. He is real, and he's the only thing that has stayed with me for this long (almost 8 years holy cannoli) he will never leave me, as long as he shall live. he always will love me and care about me. he's never going to judge me, or get mad at me. He doesn't care if im unstable or happy, if im panicked over something crazy or content.

@Fluffysheep8 I would say breathing, meditation, and journaling. Those definitely allow me to connect with myself, calm my nervous system, and observe the chaos from a somewhat detached state from which I can critically think and move myself to a place of peace.

@Fluffysheep8 I could be more open to understanding my feelings rather than ignoring them, and to understand people better, I try to be open-minded. But I could work on that a bit ❤

Btw this is a great post, a great idea ❤

I mostly learn that I already have a lot of the qualities that I really want to develop, it's just a matter of bringing them out and showing them some sunlight!

Today’s reflection prompt: Where in your life would you like to practice more patience?

My answer: Waiting for top surgery because although the path I’m on might not feel easy, it’s the one I’m on, so I might as well tolerate as much as I can within it.

@Fluffysheep8

Patience with my doctors. Often I feel frustrated and mad and abandoned because they allow me to suffer, but this roadb is a long one. One that will eventually be rewarding so I must be patient

@AvyIsKing Practice more patience... I would definitely say with some of my relationships. I feel like I have dedicated a lot of time to the personal growth path, and sometimes people aren't really entirely ready for it yet, despite probably being the best thing for them. I tend to lose patience there sometimes, in my desire to help.

Today’s reflection prompt: When has something unexpectedly come together for you?

My answer: I have a lot of times where this has happened. My family got really lucky with the house we got because it’s super close to my high school and it’s just the right size. I got really lucky with my dog and cat because they’re the perfect pets for me and my family. I had the most amazing experience of my life when I was at the concert of my favorite pop artist and a stranger who I had been talking with during the concert chose to give me his meet and greet pass so that I could meet my favorite celebrity. I got lucky with the association for nonsmokers Minnesota program I’m in because I met a new friend and she’s really nice. I got lucky with getting an opportunity to speak in a preventing youth bullying and hate crimes virtual symposium run by the office of juvenile justice and delinquency prevention because I got so many comments from amazed adults who were praising me for my insight. I got lucky when I met my best friend/attachment figure’s partner and their brother because they’re such wonderful friends and I couldn’t have imagined better people to meet and get to know. I got lucky with my job because my coworkers are kind and helpful and the job requirements are things I’m capable of and I get to bring food home from work.

@Fluffysheep8

When has something unexpectedly come together for you?

This one is hard because I feel like I always get the bad end of the deal aha. Maybe when I got to meet my favorite singer, but I paid for that. this one is stumping me. Wow my life is sad 😭

Uh maybe when I met my current bf. I had been through some issues with a toxic ex in the past. Aha toxic doesn't really sum him up does it? He just kind of appeared. And he cares about me in a way I've only ever seen on cups yk? It makes me feel good I dunno. Or maybe when my ex agreed to be my friend, so I can keep an eye on him? Idrk..

@AvyIsKing

I would say that there are a lot of times when things come together unexpectedly. Since I happen to be thinking about my job, there have been many times where I started one project, and in the process of completing this project I had like several offshoots, and those ended up being projects in themselves. Then, at the end of the group of projects, they all kind of fit together into one major one. Funny how things work!

@Fluffysheep8 I would say my work opportunities! Before, I used to be rather close-minded when it came to work opportunities and roles, but this year, I can be a little more open minded. Also, technology that I can incorporate in my life to help augment things that I am doing, as well as hobbies that I otherwise would have been close minded to.

Hey all! Sorry I haven't been posting these prompts. Sunday's was: How can you create a healthier relationship with media?

My answer: Spend more time away from social media, limiting the time I spent on social media, I think I’ve been doing better at this than I was a few months ago.

Monday's prompt: How has “failure” transformed your life in a positive way?

My answer: When my ex best friend left me because I was too clingy, needy, and dependent. I needed to learn the hard way, through experience, that that behavior was not acceptable and it was draining for her and my other attachment figures. Because I was able to learn from this “failure” of being too intense, I now have a much healthier relationship with my current attachment figure because I’ve worked on myself a whole lot.

Tuesday's reflection prompt: What are you clinging to that is causing you pain?

My answer: My attachment figure, thoughts about my ex friend group.

Yesterday's reflection prompt: How would it feel to embrace the flow of change in your life?

My answer: I would be more at peace, less anxious, less resistant.

Today's reflection prompt: What parts of your body are you most grateful for? Why?

Me: My brain because our minds are incredible.

Oof, I'll be better at posting these daily. Life has been pretty chaotic for me.

Friday: How do you make time and space for your self-care practices?

My answer: I prioritize self-care by putting it on my to-do list and recognizing that it helps me function better in day-to-day life.

Saturday: What can you feel appreciation for in your life?

My answer: The resources I have to help me. My therapist, school social worker, and skills worker.

Sunday: What cravings arise when you feel discomfort? How can you take care?

My answer: Touch cravings. I was touch starved as a newborn and as a child so I have pretty frequent touch cravings for nonsexual touch like hugs and cuddles. Also cravings for my attachment figure to be there with me always. Obviously, this is not realistic or healthy, so I redirect my attention to the next thing on my to-do list or working on something I'm passionate about.

Today: Reflect on the ways you offer support to others.

My answer: I gave a LOT of support yesterday. I gave support to five friends. They were all struggling and I empathized with them and made sure they knew they weren't alone and that I cared.
