Room Supporter Team: Weekly Check-in #1
Hello Room Supporters Team, I hope you are all well and had an easy week.
Being a room supporter is not an easy task, and it takes a special kind of person to do what we do. So, take a moment to acknowledge your hard work, dedication, and the positive impact you've made in the Group Chats. And don't forget to show some love to your fellow room supporters who inspire you every day.
I am initiating a weekly check-in forum discussion as a space to share your thoughts, accomplishments, and challenges. This check-in post is all about celebrating our successes and offering support to one another.
Let's start by reflecting on the past week. What were some of the highlights for you as a room supporter? Did you have any memorable interactions or moments that made a difference in someone's life? Share your stories and let us know how you made a positive impact.
Of course, being a room supporter also comes with its challenges. It's not always easy to balance our own needs with the needs of the community. Sometimes it can be emotionally draining, especially when we encounter conflicts or difficult situations. If you've had any challenging moments this week or have any questions, please share them here and I will answer them.
Before we wrap up this check-in, I want to remind you all to practice self-care. Taking care of ourselves is essential to be able to support others effectively. Whether it's taking a walk in nature, reading a good book, or spending time with loved ones, make sure to prioritize your well-being. You deserve it.
Thank you all for being such an amazing room supporters team. Your commitment and passion are what make our group chats thrive. Let's continue to support each other, learn from one another, and make a positive difference in the lives of those we interact with.

@Crystalboy4 Hi Crystal, thank you. Is everything alright? Please let us know and know we are all here to help and support you. <3
@ASilentObserver
Yes, everythings great. That's why I haven't been on as much! I get to work with penguins at the zoo and I'm spending a lot more time with family
@ASilentObserver
What were some of the highlights for you as a room supporter?
First and foremost, we have joined forces with @Beck1 (to alternate weeks) and @Gilbird (to co-host), for our weekly scheduled sessions in the Trauma Room.
I am happy as a child about this! Working as a team feels so good!
Yesterday we had a very, productive and intense session cohosting with @Gilbird. I couldn't have made it alone. Gilbird is a superb host and It's a great luck and a privilege for me to share hosting together.
Many members of the Trauma subcommunity feel a great need to share their issues exclusively with peers with the same issues. They express their satisfaction that this need is met, and they show much gratitude and kindness to us the hosts. This was very much the case yesterday. A heck of a session! Very invigorating.
A highly fulfilling and meaningful experience that filled my heart.
I highly recommend scheduled sessions targeted, and somethat "closed", to people with the same issues, particularly sensitive ones. I
t demands an effort in organization and communicating with the target audience beforehand, as we can't advertise in other rooms minutes earlier to bring random members curious about those issues, as it's customary.
A significant organizational effort is needed for this scheme to work. @Audienta, our Trauma Community CML, takes good care of these time-demanding tasks, without which this excellent scheme of regular sessions on the same day and hour every week, targeted to a particular group and issue, would not work at all.
This is teamwork at its best, which results in a most supportive effect on our members (as told by them), sustained and consistent, week after week.
Thank you, Obs for your insights, and for this opportunity to share our thoughts with our peers.
@HealingTalk
I'm so happy to hear that the teamwork works and we're really starting to build a strong trauma support leadership team. I'm also glad that the sessions are going well. Thank you for acknowledging what I do; I really appreciate your work too!
@audienta
Your work is state-of-the-art, Audi.
I wish hosting in all subcommunities was regular, scheduled, and well-organized like this.
@HealingTalk
This was so sweet of you to say, @HealingTalk! I have learned so much from working alongside you and it's so reassuring to have you by my side during these intense sessions in the trauma support room. We seem to work very well together, as our talking styles complement each other.
I look forward to co-hosting more sessions together. Some notable traits of @HealingTalk are their knowledge, humility, and kindness. I have been recommended wonderful books and it's such a pleasure to witness their interactions with members. We can joke together with members and they have the ability to create a lovely atmosphere, even after more difficult sessions.
The Depression Community (for which I am an official room supporter) and the trauma community (training to be a room supporter) are very different, and I have greatly enjoyed participating in more casual, open chats as well as more closed, focused chats.
@HealingTalk
Wow, it sounds like you guys are doing fantastic work! It's awesome to see such focus on a community that could really use the support. Thank you for taking that on!
@HealingTalk glad to hear that Healing. Seems like a productive and interactive week for you. That was an uplifting experience you had with your co-hosts and community members. It sounds like connecting with peers who understand your issues in a consistent space truly helped many people feel heard and supported. I'm glad to hear teamwork can make such a difference for people. Appreciate all your support and care, healing. You truly healing the community with your effort.s
@ASilentObserver highlights for me as always is being in a community environment and seeing people grow β€οΈβ€οΈHope all is good with everyone ? :)
@GoldenRuleJG I'm glad to hear things are going well for you and others at the moment. It's great being part of a caring community where people can grow. What do you enjoy most about seeing others grow in the community?
@ASilentObserver I find the reactions interesting as they are so different r(they can be a wide spectrum of emotions like a rainbow - passion, fury , calm, excitement, joy , sadness, fear). We are all together to try or best to solve issues with honesty and sensitivity in the melting pot of the inclusiveness, diversity within each community. π©·π©΅β€οΈπ€ππ§‘ππ€ππ€ππ©Ά
I was able to be more present in the chatrooms last month, and I'm off to a good start this month as well. It's so energizing to be around so many supportive, friendly, and encouraging people. I've seen some newbies jump in and make some memorable connections in both MCR and the Support Room 24/7. It's nice to see our community rallying around one another in a show of solidarity.
The main issue that I've faced is figuring out a good schedule for hosting discussions that coordinates with my work and school schedule, and that also aligns with the needs and availability of the community members who might attend. In the meantime, I'll continue to be a supportive presence in the chatrooms whenever I can.
@GoldenNest2727 It's wonderful to hear you're finding the community so supportive and encouraging. That kind of positive environment can make a big difference. What aspects of connecting with others in the chatrooms bring you the most joy?
@ASilentObserver
Sometimes, maybe even often, it's easy to solve conflicts in the chatrooms with just a few kind words. Most of the time, the conflict is due to simple misunderstandings. I love seeing everyone come together and accept that no harm was meant and that we're all on the same team.
@ASilentObserver
I just started and unfortunitly ended up in hosp . But i love it. I love supporting ppl who genuinely need a friendly ear. 7 mins goes fast . So better time keeping skills is my goal.
@Geminmyeyesnz I am sorry to hear that Gem. I hope you have a swift recovery. Sending positive thoughts and beams your way. I'm glad you have a passion for supporting others. Having time-keeping skills can help ensure you support as many people as possible.
@Geminmyeyesnz
I hope you get well soon and wish you all the best! β€οΈ
