Grief and Loss Support Check-in

11 November ~ 18 November 2024

Hello, lovely grief and loss support community! Welcome to our weekly check-in.

How are we all doing? I hope that the week is being gentle to you and you find time to take care of yourselves. I know it’s been super busy lately for me. I hope that you find a moment this week to just pause despite of how your week has been. I think we should celebrate and be proud of the times that we slowed down rather than the times that we keep running on empty. I wish you all an amazing week ahead. I am always here for you and you are not alone.<3

I would love to welcome you to participate in some reflection questions!  Our weekly check-ins are an opportunity to get to know each other a little bit better and offer continual support. Feel free to answer as many or as few as you would like. Also, feel free to share anything on your mind or just say hi! Whatever you post; we eagerly await your response!

@CaringEzra hi ezra ❤ hi everyone ❤currently in hospital recovering from spinal surgery, everything going well and I'm feeling very spiritual, thank you God for helping me through this ❤ I bought my son a remote control car for xmas, I put it in his treasure box by his cross in the garden, with all his other presents 😁❤ it might seem silly, cause I know he's not here now, but it makes me feel a bit better to buy him gifts, wrote poems or do art stuff for him. I hope he knows how much I love him ❤ I wish he could be here just for xmas day, I bet we all wish our loved ones could be here just for one more day🙂❤

@Tinywhisper11 Every time I read about your love for your son, my heart just melts. I am so sorry for what you had to go through and for what happened to him. However, I hope you find comfort in knowing he's with the most loving God and that you will get to see and be with him again one day. You are and always will be his mother and that love for him will never end-- no matter what. I think your sweet acts of love and gifts for him are so special. <3 Joshua will always live in your heart. He truly has the most beautiful mommy in the world-- you, Lola aka Tiny! <3 May your sweet boy rest in peace and fly high with the angels. And just so you know again, I love you. I love you. <3

@CaringEzra How are you doing? Emotionally? Physically? Spiritually? Emotionally - numb. Physically - tired

Spiritually - Idk? Lost? Searching?

What's one thing you wish the people in your life understood about your grief or grief in general? It doesn't just go away and you don't "just get over it"

What’s your dream vacation spot? I spent a couple of weeks down in West Virginia around Sandstone Falls and the New River Gorge in April. I fell in love with the place and can't wait to go back.
Thank you for all you do in the grief and loss community. You always put a lot of thought into your replies and I appreciate you so much for that 😊

@mytwistedsoul oh I remember you showed a photo of that place ❤ it looks like a beautiful place. Maybe you can retire there when your ready ❤ the pain of losing someone never goes away, and time doesn't heal everything🙁 there will be good days and bad days, and on your bad days I'm gonna be right here hugging you ❤❤ I hope the numb feeling gets better for you soon ❤

@mytwistedsoul awww sweetie I'm sorry 🙁 anniversaries are hard 😥 I bet your doggo would've liked to retire with you in that nice place, but she had a good life with you there on the farm ❤❤ most dogs would only dream of such freedom. You were a good daddy to her ❤ I know your not religious, but if there is a heaven, I'm sure Joshua is up there looking after and playing happily with your dog ❤ hugs you tightly ❤

@Tinywhisper11 To think her and your son are hanging out and playing together 🥹 it's such a beautiful thought. It got me a little teary eyed. Which is ok, that doesn't happen much. ❤️ I bet your little piggies will be so happy and excited when they see you. Lots of love to you ❤️

How am I doing? It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride with the emotions the past week.. Thought I had been moving on consistently, but with an updated news, I felt I'm back to square one..

With my family and colleagues.. I wish they'd understand that we all grieve differently, whether or not we've had a close relationship with the person we lost, grief impacts people in all sorts of ways.. I also wish they'd understand that a loss of a person is different than a loss of an object (ie, losing place of living from fire).

The ultimate vacation spot I'd like to go to is Seoul, South Korea.. but, Japan will do (we're planning a family vacation for next year to Japan).
