No positivity

Gettingbettertoday November 7th

I listened to my morning affirmations today and they fell on dead ears.

Each statement was a lie.

I am not hopeful.

I am not overflowing with gratitude.

I am not living a life i love.

@Gettingbettertoday hi sweetie ❤ you changed your pfp it's cool. Did you  draw that?? You may not be hopeful, you may not love life, you may not feel a lot of things. But you are here and that makes me happy. I wish I could make things better for you, but a virtual hug is the best I can do ❤ hugs you tightly ❤

It's not that the affirmation statements are a lie, it's because it is NEVER a good idea to do affirmations when you are already in a bad mood and having negative thoughts.

This is the time when you re-focus and divert your attention to pleasing thoughts and find some things in your life and be grateful for. This is the time when you look at what you already have and express gratitude for your blessings. This is the time to pivot from those thoughts and beliefs that don't serve you. To notice them, accept them and release them.

Always do affirmations when your energy is high and you are vibrating in a place of joy, contentment and satisfaction.

Wow. I'm so impressed with you trying that thing of positive affirmations. I totally understand. I often find affirmations like this jarring. Things that only work when you are in the right mood can be so frustrating.

Can you find some that better suit you? Maybe "I am here". Or "today I will keep trying". Or "I have friends on 7 cups who care about me". Or whatever suits you.

I'm trying reading something thought provoking, like a philosophical short essay, each day, as a way to introduce something like meditation in my day.

@Clio9876 very wise suggestions about more realistic sounding affirmations💕💕 positivity doesn't have to be all things roses and sunshine... it can be acknowledging the clouds and still making space for the sun..💕💕

@Gettingbettertoday

I totally understand how you feel I hope you start to feel better soon.

Mezmer November 10th

@Gettingbettertoday I can completely relate to this. I think it's incredibly hard to have a positive, optimistic outlook when life seems grey, benal and joyless. When life seems like a series of obligations rather than a peaceful experience, it can get dark. But hang in there, man. Sending positivity.

There is nothing that we have not yet not survived somehow. I feel your pain. Just keep trying to make every day better than the one before. Somehow. Some way. Doesn't matter how small it is. Sometimes all we can do is stand up every day.

I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. It’s okay to feel disconnected from those affirmations. Let’s talk—I’m here.

It's known that positive affirmations can be harmful, especially when they are as exaggerated as those you seem to have chosen. You can choose to not do them when they feel like gaslighting yourself. If you want tob you can then go and find milder ones that resonate with you more. Or you go and do something that seems more helpful to lift your mood than what must feel like silly paroles.

@Gettingbettertoday

I see nothing with those affirmations. It makes you who you really are. Having passive negative thoughts can really distort how we see ourselves. We see and hear you man, hope all gets better soon 👍

Its the I AM Statements that work ....if your not feeling it add Yet to each statement. There is no finality to yet. Keep trying find one thing to be grateful for. I say thankyou for a simple meal or the sun peaked out on a rainy day.

@generousCherry344 practicing gratitude for even the smaller looking things is so so nice 💕💕 they aren't as small when we focus on them with a grateful mindset
