I'll share one. But I have many that go all the way into my adulthood.

Age 4 - 1984, Detroit MI:
I lived in an older established neighborhood with cute little bungalows and some run down looking duplexes and apartments. Lots of beautiful large old oak trees. Lots of green spaces to run around. My single mother and I are living in a shabby old duplex at the front of some ugly apartments out back behind our yard. It's a three story small little box of a place. Didn't seem so small when I was small but I went back to visit in my young adulthood and was like, "Oh, it's dilapidated, creepy looking, and smol."

Anyway, we had an upstairs for two bedrooms and a bathroom, the main floor for the living/dining area and kitchen, and then the basement. Each floor was separated but exceptionally steep and narrow staircases. The main floor to the second floor was carpeted. The stairs to the basement were just wooden slats and a flimsy wooden railing. The basement was segmented into three areas. One was specifically walled off and locked to be ours, another was presumably the neighbor's, and then we had one area in the back that was a shared area that we could access through a door in the back of the basement at the back of the house. I don't think the basement had any windows. At least, not in our walled off area, anyway. Maybe in the shared space.

Again, I was young. I would play in the basement. Hide and seek. I was enamored with the cat's litter box. I really don't know what goes through the minds of children. Mom did laundry down there. Ect. I definitely didn't make a habit of always being down there because I was sort of becoming familiar with the concept of creepy. And to be honest, I think that basement taught me what creepy was. There were times I'd be down there, being a weird four-year-old by myself, and I'd hear noises of doors and movement. I'd see light and movement under the backdoor space between the threshold and floor. But I assumed it was just the neighbor in the shared space. And to this day, it probably was. But I always felt like I was being watched down there. Like, as a four-year-old I didn't realize what that feeling was but in retrospect that's what it was. I felt "watched."

So the haunting part comes in at a point where I was being careless going down the steep staircase. I ended up tripping somewhere in the middle and was fully expecting to fall face forward and quit a bit down some hard wooden stairs. But instead of falling and getting seriously hurt something gently lifted my tiny four-year old body up, carried me down the stairs, and then gently set me down at the bottom of the stairs on the ground. Like... I guess I floated down the stairs and then was set down on my feet? I remember standing at the bottom of the stairs absolutely confused by the experience. I don't think I spent much time down there afterwards. We moved out shortly after that, anyway.

That’s like an “oh wow” moment for me…

as when I was around 12-13ish or so, I was at the Community pool one summer day with a few of my friends…. The pool was an in-ground pool surrounded by Concrete wall. The wall went all the way around the pool about 4 feet high…. So of course many of us (people in general) would sit on the wall/ledge. And just sunbathe, chill, etc…

For some reason I got this idea in me to “stand up” on it?! So of course that put me up at that point (from ground to head) about 8-9 feet? I was standing up on it talking and messing with my friends below me who were in the pool & I Slipped off! Like I “literally should have fell off and cracked my head open off the concrete below”! …BUT!!!…. Almost simultaneously in mid-air as I felt myself falling off, I felt “something” or like an out of body experience, my body “twisted & shifted” mid-fall! And it’s like I was floating in mid air. And softly , (on concrete ground??) softly landed on my feet! 🦶 NO injuries! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Until this day, I never thought of it as “ghostly” but rather my “guardian angel”!

My house frequently has creaking stairs, at night it sometimes does feel like there might be someone walking on the stairs. I always contributed it to my parents walking, until I one day decided to go check out, because the sounds were really clear and has been going on for a pretty long time and no one was there. Then I got a cat, and I could blame all noises of the house to my cat. However this is not the real ghost story yet.

Another time it was when I woke up at 6 am, I looked at my digital alarm clock, it was flickering on 3:00, an power outage? Since it was 6 am according to my phone 3 hours have passed since the power outage I deducted.

Then I walked down the stairs into the living room, there was an analog clock there, but it stood still and was pointing at 3 am exactly.

That meant that two clocks without any correlation to eachother decided to quit at the same time, and the digital alarm of other rooms worked as normal, which opted out the power outage theory.

All the more creepy was that it happened after I heard shuffling very clearly in my room one night, like someone turning pages of a book. I didn't dare to look, and I hid under the blanket, whether it was illusion or reality, I don't know, but I opened my eyes under the blanket and saw some very bright flashes that could have only come from my table lamp, although short lasting. I wish I could've mustered courage to peek from under the blanket.

So I'm still questioning, might it have been my mind generating flashes for me? It didn't matter, I threw out that lamp afterward.

@tanish0007 I could remember talking or bonding with grandma, I would go around her neat master's bedroom, that memory looked so warm. Turns out she's been gone even before I was born. The crazy part is, no one should have been able to access the room, and I knew what it looked like inside. My father decided to unlock the room, and it was completely trashed (broken lamps, dusty furnitures, messy random items around) with lots of vandalism from my drug addicted uncle. They cleaned it up, but my memory wasn't.

ohhh i see

@CookedMallow

This is lovely and warm for me. Well, not the part about your uncle trashing the bedroom, but about getting to bond with your grandma.

Around 6 or 7 years ago I was at my brother's house hanging out as we let the cousins play, and my oldest son, he was around 4 or 5, came running through the house to get a drink of water and I casually ask him, "hey Bub, whatcha been doin?" and he says "talkin to Grannie. She's funny, but I don't like the smell when she's smoking. She said one time y'all...(and he goes on to tell about a time my brother, sister, and I played hide n seek in the house and my sister knocked the bowling ball over on my foot in the closet but I didn't scream because I didn't want to be found. As soon as my grannie found us I started bawling." My brother and I were just looking at each other with huge wide eyes completely dumbfounded. I said, "where were you at talking to grannie?" He says "in Uncle D's room" and I go running back to his room but of course she wasn't there but I could smell smoke. So, at the time, my brother was living in our Dad's childhood home where he and his sisters were raised by my grandma and grandpa, who we called Grannie and Pawpaw, and who both smoked like chimneys. His bedroom was my grandparents room. My grandma passed in 2002 and my son was not born until 2013. I miss my Grannie terribly and wanted to see her so much, even if it was just her energy/spirit. I love that my son got to "meet" her that day. She was an amazing woman.

I have one.

In 2014 my son passed away. He was 11 yrs of age at the time and it was due to a quick onset of illness.

As you could probably imagine, I was a mess and not getting much sleep. I believe it was night 3 after he had passed, that this occurred. I was laying in bed, wide awake and staring at the ceiling. I was crying and trying to process everything. Anyway, out of nowhere, I hear this older male voice speak the words, "I'm okay. I don't hurt anymore."

The room was extremely quiet and dark. I couldn't see anything and afterwards, a feeling of calmness rushed over me. I still can't wrap my ahead around the fact that it was an older male voice. My son was 11 yrs old and did not sound like that. Who knows what happens in the afterlife (if you believe in such, respectfully) but, I know what I heard and to this day, I remember that night without any errors within my memory.

@HopefulOne81 True ^^ who knows what happens after this life but I know that the love we share with someone so close never goes away :) <3 Thank you for sharing this.

My comment on this story would be like maybe it is that his voice sounded different because that world, dimension or whatever you can call it and our visible place must be difficult to connect or the soul must be a 25yo by now. But as always love is beyond everything. The strong bond between you both made you connect like that. If those were the words you heard then believe that he is in a peaceful place.

@HopefulOne81

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your son, especially at such a tender age. I can't imagine the feelings. I am so glad he was able to comfort you that night. I believe he came to you with an older voice to help you understand that he would not be forever that young kid. His spirit/soul/energy has many, many, many more years of experience than just the 11 years in the physical form. ;-) It's beautiful that he chose "his adult voice" to speak with you.

HopefulOne81 August 19th

@TheGirlWhoFeltTooMuch I know I have heard that when souls "crossover" that they are healed. My only explanation is that he did choose to speak using his adult voice. I do agree with you on that and thank you! I am grateful that I received anything at all and the fact that I can remember it so clearly, it could not have been a manifestation of the mind. 😊

Speaking about these things can bring understanding, healing, and even give someone an opportunity to contribute and "speak up" when they might not have felt comfortable before with other subjects.
